1.0 INTRODUCTION
On 8th March 2014, MH370 a B777-200 aircraft departed from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing at 12.41am carrying 239 on board including passengers, 2 infants and flight crews was declared to be missing by Malaysian Airlines (MAS). The flight was supposed to arrive in Beijing at 6.30am on the same day however; the Subang Air Traffic Control reported a loss of contact with the aircraft at 2.40am as stated by MAS. It is till this day the disappearance of flight MH370 remains as one of aviation’s biggest unsolved mysteries with numerous unproven theories.
As the ill-fated flight MH370 is still missing, these unproven theories are increasing by the day therefore; there is much need to evaluate the author’s reasoning when reading articles about the missing flight MH370. A series of questions can be asked to determine the validity of the author’s claims and if it is of sound reasoning. Additionally, pertaining to important issues, the evaluation process of the writer’s reasoning needs to be approached in a systematic and skilful manner.
The first question to ask is if the reasons stated are acceptable in terms of being true, valid, factual, etc. as recently, Malaysia has dropped in the Trafficking in Persons (TiP) 2014 report to Tier 3 which is the lowest ranking due to having identified 650 human trafficking victims last year but only nine traffickers were caught and convicted; surely this justifies the drop in ranking.
The second question to ask is if the reasoning supports the conclusion made. For example, it was concluded that traffic jams were exceptionally heavy on the first day of Ramadan; this was caused by people rushing back to their hometown for their first “sahur” and “buka puasa” meals with their loved ones. The t...

...ary knew about the crash and that they were going to transport the wreckage to another military base. Many eyewitness accounts with similar details eliminate the possibility of merely a single person making up the entire event. The government’s contradictory reports demonstrate that their knowledge of the incident is dynamic and dependent on how they want the people to react. This matter is important because it raises the possibility that if the government is hiding information from the public about a spacecraft accident, there may be other incidents where the government is concealing the truth from the public. Despite the government’s best attempts to cover up the Roswell incident, eyewitness accounts from the common person validate the idea that an unidentified flying object crashed in Roswell, New Mexico and eternally changed the lives of several people.

There are mysteries which man can only guess at, which may only ever truly be solved in part; the SS Edmund Fitzgerald’s sinking is one of them. At the time it was launched in 1958, the 729-foot long, 75-foot wide freighter was the largest ship to ply the Great Lakes. Although, on November 9, 1975 the ship embarked upon what would become its final voyage. She was carrying 26,000 tons of iron ore pellets and bound for Detroit, and though the day was bright, in her path laid great turbulence. On November 10, at 1:00am, the first signs of trouble appeared, and prevailed into the afternoon. As the waves built, luck was neither with the ship nor the crew. At 7:10 PM, Captain McSorley delivered what was to be his final message "We are holding our own." Ten minutes later, the Fitzgerald could neither be raised by radio, nor detected on radar, and no distress signal was received. With that, the ship and crew of 29 men sank to the bottom of Lake Superior. Several expeditions have been mounted to the wreck and have been the subject of some controversy. There are many theories for how the Fitzgerald found itself hundreds of feet below the water; however none of them have been proven indefinitely. One possible cause of this disaster includes the ship crossing the Superior Shoal, with water as shallow as 22 feet. Additionally, the ship may have suffered a stress fracture and broke apart on the surface. Another possibility is that the ship succumbed to the forces of the Three Sisters, a Lake Superior phenomenon, consisting of massive waves. These current theories are merely conjectures, and since each holds the possibility of being true, it cannot yet be determined which one actually is.
The disappearance of Flight 19 has been the longest standing mystery in aviation due to the fact that no sign
She and her copilot Frederick J. Noonan’s goal was to circle the Earth along the 27,000-mile equator. The pair set out on June 1st and successfully made it to Lae, New Guinea. From New Guinea, their next stop would have been Howland Island in the Southern Pacific Ocean. Sadly, the Coast Guard had one last contact with them and it was indicated that they were low on fuel. After that they were no longer heard from. The search for Earhart and Noonan became the nation’s largest, most extensive sea search in history. Most people believe that their plane crashed just a couple hundred miles away from Howland Island, their destination. Many rumors began to pop up with some of them being that it was a secret intelligence mission cover-up or that they were captured by the Japanese.
Flight 93, the flight that crashed near some fields in the outskirts of Pennsylvania. But what was it doing there? What caused the plane to miss its target and crash? These answers may soon be revealed when detectives can finally examine the planes black box, found just recently. Many answers however can be found through other pieces of info that have come up along the way during the investigations.
Finally, in 1997, the US military admitted to lying about the object being a weather balloon. Instead they claim that the wreckage was part of a “top-secret experiment”(Mitton 11) involving some sort of balloon. Steve MacKenzie’s response, “if the object he tracked had been a weather balloon, secret or not, his superiors would have ordered him to ignore it.”(Dudley 35)
In conclusion, many contribution factors led to the Crossair flight 3597 crash but is mainly triggered by Crossair’s incapability of assessment, pilot error and lastly the air traffic controller. Analysis of a flight crash is important so that we will know the causes, thus being able tackle it, making sure that there are no other flight crashes like Crossair flight 3597.
Fifteen years have passed since American Airlines flight 1420 experienced a botched landing tragically killing 10 passengers, the captain, and injuring 110 others. Thankfully, 24 passengers were uninjured, and the first officer survived. This horrific accident could have turned out much worse, but it could have also been easily avoided.
It was the afternoon of July 25, 2000. One hundred passengers, most of them German, boarded the Concorde Air France Flight 4590. This was a trip of a lifetime for many people, as Concorde was restricted to the wealthy class of people. The excitement in people was cut short by the unfortunate delay in flight, because of maintenance in one of its engines. The passengers boarded the plane a couple of hours after the scheduled time. Finally, it was cleared for taxi on runway 26-Right. The pilots lined the aircraft parallel to the runway. A tragic accident, however, was about to befall.
Flight 370 was an international passenger flight that went missing on March 8, 2014. The flight was scheduled in route to Beijing, but it went missing throughout the second day after the plane took off from Kuala National Airport. At approximately 1:21 p.m., the communications and transponder signal were functioning no longer. There were no emergency calls at the time the plane had its last checkpoint. On March 24 at approximately 10p.m.Malaysia Standard Time, officials ceased the search as radio signals picked up debris found throughout a remote Indian Ocean. It is believed that all of the 239 passengers on the plane died (Preimesberger). From protests and outcries, to mourning and fallouts, it is still a distraught event that shocked the world.
Boeing/Airbus Case Analysis Competition in the Commercial Aircraft Business. With only a few large companies across the globe (Boeing, MD, and Airbus), the commercial aircraft industry essentially exhibits the qualities of an oligopolistic competition with intense rivalry. Here is an analysis of competition in the commercial aircraft business using Porter’s Five Forces. Figure 1: Porter’s Five Forces Applied to Aircraft Industry. Barrier to entry: - High barriers to entry, to a certain extent, help understand the risks involved in operating in the aircraft industry.
Trafficking in Persons Report (2007) discusses many different tiers in relation to a counties response to human trafficking. Tier one consists of countries whose government fully comply with the Trafficking Victims Protection Act’s minimum standards, for example Australia, Uk, Germany and Norway. In tier two the countries whose government do not fully comply with TVPA’s minimum standards but making efforts to bring themselves up such as Japan, Romania, Peru and Rwanda. And finally tier three are governments that do not full...
The paranormal activity and substantial amount of ships and planes missing reported suggests that the triangle would be a deadly place for ships to travel across. However, the area is passed through daily by multiple cruise ships along with planes as well. The “World Wide Fund For Nature” created a list of the 10 most deadly waters for shipping, but the bermuda triangle was not included. Research has hinted towards reports of several incidents being exaterated or imbellished. Despite the evidence, the majority of people still believe the triangle is not deadly, and in fact, is completely safe to ship through, or fly over. On the contrary, over the past 5 centuries, more than 1000 ships and planes have dissapeared unaccounted for in the triangle(http://www.history.navy.mil/faqs/faq8-1.htm). Therefore, the aura of mystery surrounding the triangle is alive and well.
