Taking the time to reflect on one’s career can increase self-awareness and enhance professional development. A career development plan is a confidential and integral document created by an individual which outlines the activities undertaken during their life. Hence, a professional development plan documents goals and skills required to accomplish dreams and aspirations. Moreover, a professional development program is reminiscent of ones’ past experiences and a glance at the future. Having a professional development plan in place is critical for graduate study to keep track of one’s progression. The principal purpose of a developmental plan is to give a description of my educational and professional background as well to explore my personal goals as it relates to my profession growth and development.
Analyzing career theory is an important task, not only as an individual but also on a large scale. If everyone has the career they are best at and enjoy above all others, the world would be a much happier place. Imagine a world where each individual viewed work as not something they have to do, but as something they want to do. Productivity would increase at all levels. Charitable foundations and businesses would be abundant. Whereas this ideal may not be fathomable at this point, if each person used this information, it would be only a matter of time before we are moving in that harmonious direction.
It is imperative to understand yourself in your career development. No matter what your career stage, it is essential to assess your personal goals, interpersonal skills, strengths, weaknesses and desires to keep

In my opinion, I think that quality of life is more important than career. Everyone wants quality of life, but what is quality of life? The quality of a person’s life may be considered in terms of its richness, completeness and contentedness (Juniper, 2001). It is an important component of many financial decisions and also a highly subjective measure of happiness. “Quality of life” is subjective and multidimensional, encompassing positive and negative features of life. It’s a dynamic condition that responds to life events: A job loss, illness or other upheavals can change one’s definition of “quality of life” rather quickly and dramatically (Insight, 2013). In contrast, career is person’s occupation or career which are progress and actions
Choosing which career path to follow is one of the most important decision people take in their lifetime. Considering that this decision will affect the entire future life, it is very important to be sure that it is the right one. It is one of the most important steps in order to successfully find a job that would satisfy personality needs and guarantee a steady income. If he or she is passionate about their job, hard work is simplified and high salary helps to concentrate on results. The key about being successful at work is to be in love with it.

Greenhaus, Callanan & Godshalh (2000, p.9) write that a career can be defined as a “property of an individual” instead of an “occupation or Organization”, seeing that we all “accumulate a unique series of jobs, positions and experiences”. This notion acknowledges that everyone “pursues a unique career”. Our careers need to develop or take on a unique series of experiences by going through “different phases or stages” in our careers therefore, this concept is called career development.
Intellectual stimulation will allow me to think and be on my feet without ever getting bored at the job. Furthermore, security and economic rewards will make me feel as though I have a secure job with compensation for my duties in the workplace. Structure, acknowledgement, and convenience are important, but not as important. These are values that I look for in a career, but will not affect my decision if they are not provided in the workplace.

According to the study of this course, I have learned many useful management skills and I feel like these skills will be applied to my future career development. When working on the self- assessment tests, I found myself fall into the category of the ISTJ personality types, which as illustrated by Myers Briggs, is the type of personality that is conscientious, considerate, and helpful. Personality traits such as honest, dutiful, practical and responsible are my strengths; personality traits such as stubborn, insensitive and poor communication skill are my weaknesses. Related to the knowledge I have learned in the course I believe both strengths and weakness will have influence to my future career development. In this reflection paper, I will demonstrate the strengths and weaknesses that may place the most influence on my way of success.
