A career map is visual, structured approach to career management. It is a tool used to plan a professional future. The look of a career map is affected by the individual who is using the tool and how that person works. Career maps provide detail information to make decisions, based on individual talents and skills.
Purpose and Benefits of a Career Map The purpose of a career map is to answer questions about the success of a chosen career. It is also used to outline levels of advancement, along with important skills and accomplishments require to achieve each level. A career map is a guide to success that gives multiple routes in case something fails in the intended direct path. A career path provides many benefits to an individual. One important benefit is that it can relieve stress about the future of one’s career. It provides a way to achieve short and long-term goals. A career map can lead to promotions and personal growth. And another important benefit that career mapping can provide is job satisfaction, it is important to be excited about the work one does instead of just working for pay. It is a management tool that make sure that tasks are being achieved. Goals helps people to believe in themselves, it gives them inspiration to aim for things they never thought of as possible. Setting goals allows an individual to remain focus, measure progress and overcome procrastination. Specific and realistic goals for me include:
1. Obtain a B.S. in Accounting by May 2021.
2. Earn a minimum, overall GPA of 3.5 by graduation.
3. Join and participate in a minimum of three UNC Charlotte student organization, specifically a NPHC sorority, by December 2021.
4. Participate in a minimum of one major-related internship before May
