Career Fair Reflection

When I was first assigned to go to the UC Fall Career Fair, I dreaded the day. I thought that going as a freshman would be a waste of my time and that all of the businesses there would also think that I was wasting their time. I took the advice of my professors and looked into some of the companies that were there but did not plan out an exact route of who I was going to talk to. I saw this career fair as solely practice for career fairs to come and I figured that whoever I talked to would be fine for my first time. It was a chance to grasp what a career fair was and how to go about talking to all of these different companies at one time. I had no idea what I should say to these big companies, so I just went for it. I ended up talking to a lady who worked for Enterprise first. I introduced myself and told her a little bit about myself. She gave me tons of information about what Enterprise does and what I would do if I worked for them in their marketing department. She was extremely helpful and really built up my confidence in talking to all of the other companies who were there. There, I joined CHAARG and Rotaract Club. CHAARG is a girls-only work out group who meets on Mondays and Tuesdays. Like Lindner Women in Business, CHAARG uplifts and motivates us to reach our exercise goals. It’s really nice to have a group of people to work out with twice a week rather than always exercising alone and I plan on rejoining next semester. One of my biggest passions is helping people and through Rotaract club, it’s easy to find opportunities to do just that. I go to the Boys and Girls club every other Monday with Rotaract and volunteer there. I have also done work for Habitat for Humanity through Rotaract. Through Rotaract, I’ve had the ability to connect with others who also have a passion for helping
