The majority of college students are not particularly made of money. College is very expensive which makes all other expenses in a college students life very difficult to pay sometimes. Car insurance is one of the most difficult and expensive expenses for a college student to pay which is why it is extremely important to know ways in which you can lower your premium. This is important for all people, but especially important for young people who do not have a great source of income to begin with. First off, it is very important to evaluate the cost of insurance before buying a vehicle. A young college student like myself would love to drive a sporty car because it makes them look cool on campus and they are fun to drive but the fact is they …show more content…
Going high on deductibles means paying more money out of pocket when there is a car crash for example. Having high deductibles will make your insurance premiums decreases because the insurance company knows that you will be paying more money when an incident actually happens. For me, a young college student, I would have as high of a deductible as I could reasonably have so my premiums would be as low as possible. Claiming high deductibles does have its risks, but if you can simply drive safely and avoid accidents, you will not have to pay for the deductible and will only save money on your lowered premium. If in fact, you get in an accident and it is not your fault, you will still not need to pay the deductible. It is also smart to have vanishing deductibles that save you a certain amount of money on your deductibles every year you don’t get into an accident. As a young college student, this is a great option to have because I do not drive all that often because I live on campus and have everything I need is on campus. This means the chances of me getting into an accident are much less than an adult who drives to work every day so the reward of having my premium lowered outweighs the risk of getting into the accident and having to pay a high deductible. Sometimes with older cars, it is smart to rethink whether you are going to buy collision and comprehensive …show more content…
Different insurance companies can end up giving you far different rates. J. Robert Hunter, director of insurance with the Consumer Federation of America explains, “You can easily wind up paying double from one company to the next. Knowing this, it is obvious that you should get multiple claims before making a decision. Its also important to not only look at the rate of the insurance but also the quality of the insurance. Surprisingly, the cost of insurance is not always directly proportional the quality of the insurance. Many times you could see the same quality of insurance’s but one of them scores a lower
Most insurance companies feel that speeding tickets make someone a higher risk. The adage is not a risk. So, to offset the risk, they raise the premium. Which means it is more expensive to obtain insurance for. If the insurance company decides to raise your rates by only ten dollars, it can have a lasting effect.
Futhermore, its doesnt matter what type of health insurance policy you've purchase or obtain by your employer, regardles health care fraud and any fraudulent claims are one of the reason your insurance premiums are so costly.
Outrageous insurance is understandable because of the distrust of today's society. Insurance companies are a parachute to catch you when something bad happens, so you do not fall into deep debt. Like
Varying in size, these companies act as a middleman between the patient and the medical facility finance office. All having slight variations, the abundance of insurers can cause confusion and often times incorrect billing. Insurance companies unlike individuals are able to negotiate a discounted payment with the hospital, but at a steep price. Of the considerable amount of money the United States put into the health industry, 35% of it went to paying for administration cost of both the insurer and the hospital (Brill,Steven, pg.34-43, Time). It should be no surprise then that the United States leads the world in every category of health care cost, often times charging twice more than the second most expensive country.
I have been wanting to drive because it will be one of the most useful life skills after I graduate from high school. To me, being able to drive means to have a convenient, interesting life, and being a helpful person. My life will be more convenient when I can drive by myself. I am jealous of the day students who can drive off campus to have food when they do not have classes. For those of us who can not drive, the only chance to get out of the school is to up for the school shuttles that can only go certain destinations.
Having a car last semester, it was very inconvenient for me to park when it came to driving to class. I was disappointed by the amount of tickets I received, making my parents question whether I really needed a car. I might get a new car next semester but in all honesty I don’t really know if it’s worth it or not, especially if you're living on campus. Riding the bus only involves a shorter walk to class, and I can usually find rides to other places from someone else. Most students however, do want a car and shouldn’t have to think if they should really need one just because of the parking problem on campus.
Cost is also determined by your age, gender, where you live, how many miles on the car, and what type it is. For example if an 18 guy and 34 woman buy their insurance in NJ, him a 98 Toyota Celica with 45,000 miles, her a new BMW 530I, and both living in Ridgewood. The guy would pay more for his insurance because he’s more prone to have an accident with his sports car and he has less experience behind the wheel then she does.
...hat no one wants to do this. Driving at fast speeds also increases the risks of accidents and traffic tickets, which in turn increases the cost of insurance. If you are successful with defensive driving, you will ultimately save money. In some instances you could even earn money! This is the case with the insurance company Allstate. They send their clients up to two safe driving bonus checks per year for driving safely! Defensive driving saves, and pays!
Price affordability is definitely the first thing I notice when looking at this car. When going to college most students don't have thousands of extra dollars lying around, so price is one of our main concerns. Price is an extremely attractive factor when looking at a Honda Civic because they are highly affordable starting around the low price of $14,000. If your one of those people that must have all the accessories and options, then you can buy a Honda Civic nicely equipped for around $16,000, which as you can see is very affordable when compared to others in its class.
...a higher insurance as well the rates and how much it would go up if you wrecked also because a new car has a better chance of being stolen over an older car. There are a ton of other reason to choice new as well as old and ton of reason not to choose either, but that would just go on forever and lead to more research on this topic but plain flat out and simple is that the choice is a hard one and in the end it could be a bad choice or good, but at the same time in the end you can still get from point A to point B or C or K or whatever by driving rather than you having to walk all over the place.
Having a driver's license means responsibility. I have always been hesitant to get a license and still am a bit because I know how much responsibility comes with one. Firstly, a car is quite dangerous. When driving a car, mistakes can be very costly, and the driver has to be well trained in order to handle those mistakes, or better yet, not make them. Secondly, there is a lot that goes into owning a car. You have to get it fueled, inspected, and keep good care of it. Having a car is almost like having a pet fish. You don't need to give it full attention, but you need to make sure it doesn't die. There is a lot of responsibility financially as well. You have to pay for things like insurance
For some consumers, buying health insurance is the only health coverage option. However, some of them may still be an option to save money.
I drive my car on a daily basis so I don’t need this type of insurance. However, if you drive rarely, like monthly twice or thrice only, the it is very much recommended to check for this option and purchase a good deal. Also, if you are driving someone’s car for a day or two since you don’t own a car or if your car is in the garage, you can certainly look into this insurance plan. This will be more than useful in such cases of
We all dream in the day we get to purchase our first vehicle. The day we stop asking our parents to take us here and there. Some may say buying a vehicle is a pain in the you know what. It can seem like a stressful situation if you're not familiar with the process. However, working in the car industry has taught me valuable tips and tricks that will help me teach you to save money when car buying.
With convenience comes cost. There are many costs associated with owning a car. Firstly learning to drive can be prohibitive, with lessons often out of a lot of peoples budgets. Once you have passed your test buying a car can also prove expensive. It is often the case we have to buy cheap second hand cars as new cars are very expensive. Sometimes this is fine and you can have a reliable car, but other times you pick one up that’s not been well maintained and can cost you a fortune in repairs and keeping it on the road.
