An officer began a routine stop for someone exceeding the speed limit but the driver of the sports car they were trying to pull over speed up instead of slowing down. During the course of this chase the speeds of both the police car and the sports car rose to above 100 miles per hour. At the end of the high speed chase the officer lost control of their cruiser and ran up on a sidewalk hitting a pedestrian, ultimately killing the pedestrian. In the same moment hearing the commotion caused by this accident the sports car driver looked back and proceeded to crash the sports car. Following the impact the sports car driver was killed and now people are looking for a place to distribute the blame for these two deaths. It must be decided if the officer is at fault for these deaths and the best way for the police department to act following these deaths. The legal, ethical and moral aspects of each situation must be evaluated. After this evaluation is made decisions must be made that incorporate and satisfy all of these variables in a manner most favorable to the police department.
On May 14th, 1988 a group of children and adults from the First Assembly of God Church in Radcliff, Kentucky got aboard a Ford built 1977 Superior B-700 school bus and headed to King’s Island amusement park. In the month of October 2011, two of my friends were exiting Fort Carson, Colorado and waited at a red light. The light turned to a green arrow and they proceeded into the intersection. The driver did not see a large dump truck travelling approximately 50 miles per hour toward them until it was too late. The dump truck failed to adhere to a red light and struck my friend’s truck. The truck spun around several times and stopped in a median. Paramedics on scene took both passengers of the vehicle to a local hospital for treatment for possible rib fractures, concussion and disorientation. The driver’s head struck the side window causing a cut. There were several witnesses to this event and three of them made statements to the military police.
“In the front seat was Gregg, driving, Sarah, in the middle, and Robyn, on the passenger side. In the rear seat was Jeff, behind the driver, Haley, in the middle, and Rachel, on the passenger side. The only blood was Robyn had small nicks from glass in a couple of places on her right arm and right leg.
The Georgia State Patrol has retracted their original incident report that found a motorcycle driver at fault for a crash that left him without a leg. Craig Wooten, 68, was travelling by motorcycle along Pea Ridge Road on June 25th when he was struck by a Ford F-150 driven by Thomas Lynn Marlow, 24, Jasper. According to the original GSP report, Wooten was at fault for the crash as he “failed to maintain his lane and struck the left side [of the truck],” but patrol post commander Tim Nichols said a second review of the incident found Wooten not at fault. “I reviewed the trooper’s original photos and had some questions,” said Nichols, who personally returned to the scene of the accident and examined the crashed truck and motorcycle that
In the poem, “The Old Man Dreams” by Oliver Wendell Holmes, Holmes demonstrated that an old man craved to be young again. Holmes supports his message by writing the poem as an extended metaphor by comparing youth to old age. At the end of the stanzas, he reveals that the old man didn't just want to be a young boy again, but he also wanted to be a father and a husband, too. In conclusion, one can understand that the theme of Holmes’ poem is to be forever young and to be with his loved ones. Oliver Wendell Holmes used imagery, symbolism and rhyme scheme to illustrate the character’s desire to be young again. One can also believe that the purpose of this poem was to display the hunger of youthfulness for which the man lust for. This poem also shows that Holmes was a romantic writer because the idea of this poem is untainted youth over the sophistication that comes age.
