Captivating is the perfect word to describe the cultural shock you feel when learning and placed in an unfamiliar scene. My cousin’s girlfriend was placed completely out of her comfort zone when she experienced a full blown Mexican wedding. She is from Pakistan and her culture is extremely different from ours. She agreed that she’d share her family's beliefs and customs with me at my cousin's wedding. It was truly insightful, especially because it was in an atmosphere so different from hers. The wedding sparked up various conversations about the differences in our food, music, weddings, and traditions. First, she began by sharing her language and religion, which were Urdu and Muslim. Then we got into the Pakistani traditions for weddings.
