In the real world, people automatically assume that video games can help make people smarter and healthier. People think that without video games; they do not have any abilities to learn or to mend their mind and body. Researchers tried to find a solution on how video games affect a person as a human being. They were surprised that video games are the solution to people’s problems. Video games can help improve three different difficulties: hand –eye coordination, can help people with learning disability, and can help strengthen people’s muscle. It can be good for you, confirm that playing video games can allow children and adults to have a good life with their mind and body throughout the real world. Video games can be good for a person because they help improve the vision of their hand – eye coordination. A disorder called amblyopia affects the hand –eye coordination making one of their eyes more uncontrolled than their normal eye. Saurav Sen says, “Playing the shooting games while using just my weaker eye was hard at first, but after a few months I could win all game levels easily. I'm very happy that I stuck with the program. My vision has improved a lot, so that I now have no trouble studying or taking exams. My tennis game also improved, and of course I'm now a pro PC gamer” (American Academy of Ophthalmology). Researchers use groups of children to play action video games, and their vision has been improved after more than one hour. Dyslexia is the most prominent learning disability here in the United State but, it is also the most misunderstood. For centuries, those with dyslexia have been labeled as stupid and incompetent, when in fact they extremely intelligent, excelling in areas such as art, science and music. Due to our lack of knowledge and understanding, we as a nation are ignorant, deeming truth to the stereotypes that have long been associated with this so called “disease.” In order to reverse the damage that has already been done, we must differentiate fact from fiction. In order to fully understand dyslexia, individuals need to be provided with resources that address every aspect of the disability, including what it is, the possible causes, signs, symptoms and treatments available. Video games. They provide an escape from reality to explore worlds and realms beyond our own. Video games secretly are filled with a lot of education. Isabela Granic, Adam Lobel, and Rutger C.M.E. Engels, provide strong evidence and research that shows how by just playing one shooter game, you can gain skills that usually someone would never realize they have and by playing a video game, those skills come to life. Granic, Lobel, and Engels did an experiment that showed how playing shooter games could improve cognitive abilities. Granic, Lobel, and Rutger claim that, “Compared to control participants,

We've already seen research that shows how video games can be extremely useful to help with several tasks needed to navigate the world, such as, driving a car or simply focusing on an activity. Video games allow us to enhance our abilities to track multiple items at a time, hence making video gamers better at generating decisions quicker, and react more hastily. Playing video games aids in rewiring the brain to maintain focus in situations where there is a lot of information that needs to be processed in a short period of time. Research is continually proving time and time again that action-packed video games are indeed making the brain work and respond to situations quicker. As Bavelier said in the video, we should work together and embrace the reality that video games are undeniably improving brain activity.
There is much persistent debate throughout culture these days concerning video games. Common questions asked are things like ?Where should the lines be drawn in terms of content? and What audience, if any, is this appropriate for? As lawyers fight, bizarre crimes are blamed on video games, constant studies take place, and technology continues to evolve, the video game world continues to thrive and be extremely profitable. While there is near-constant focus on the supposed ?negatives? of games like simulated killing, drug use, or sex, most people, especially those completely outside of gaming circles, fail to acknowledge that gaming of any kind can possibly have positive effects on players. There is a common misconception that video games “brainwash” kids and do nothing but damage their intellect. Although that is not the case, video games have been proven to improve one’s everyday motor skills and even improve vision. Some parents may believe that their son/daughter will grow up to be some sort of lonely psychopath due to video games, but that is not the case. The truth of the matter is that video games do little to no damage to kid’s brains. There are many more things that improved rather than decreased. There is even scientific evidence to support of this. With tests showing gamers develop the ability to use the smaller and faster portion of their brain to process situations and make decisions. It was also apparent that, with the right amount of play time, video games can even vastly improve the weakened skills of dyslexics. Several tests went to show that the same basic skills that are hampered in dyslexics, can be easily recovered through sessions of action gaming. With all of this to improve one’s basic and complex abilities, one should see how video games do not "brainwash". Video games are not “brainwashing,” rather they help increase one’s mental capacity by expanding their motor skills and can even improve a dyslexic’s abilities and match their intelligence to their classmates.
