Business transactions on the Internet otherwise known as, E-Business is the latest way to interconnect with business associates, provide customer service, and partake in buying and selling. A benefit of an E-Business is the storefront becomes obsolete along with the entire inventory, physically managing employees, overhead costs, and the hassle of maintaining a physical location. Along with benefits of electronic business there are challenges posed, such as limited markets, trust, consumer protection and abiding by tax regulations (Baltzan 2013).
With all the technology available for use today companies have the capabilities to allow their employees to work from home, called telecommunications. From the company perspective this defers from providing an office space and the costs associated with housing employees. From the employee perspective working from home saves on fuel cost, some clothing cost, insurance premiums will decrease, wear and tear on their automobiles, and in some instances childcare. Even though the expense of a physical location has been bypassed there are costs that remain a factor for the organizations in house structure of employees (Kioskea, 2013). Such as computers, routers, satellite access, wires, visual communication, system hardware and software, in organization support services, web development hosting and consulting, electronic payments, technicians, and programmers (Mesenbourg, 2013).

An E-enterprise can offer an organisation improved productivity, improvements to customer service, effective competitiveness, reduce costs and streamline business processes. Using the internet and World Wide Web services, companies can implement supply chain and customer relation management capabilities, to enable them to link their operations and actions with suppliers and customers (Sharma, Lavania, & Gupta, 2011). Not only can an e-enterprise take care of its own internal supply chain management, it can also enable businesses to establish the value chain throughout the market and across industries. Furthermore, an E-enterprise can enable efficient communication and collaboration with customers in real time via the web (Sharma, Lavania, & Gupta,
A typical day for most people in today's world starts out with an early commute to work. People working in the city know what a hassle it is to deal with the many thousands of other trying to make their way to work. Dealing with long commutes and traffic congestion is a commonplace in today's fast-paced society. What if you had a chance to do most of your work at home? Would it be beneficial to you and your company? That is a common question one, which more and more companies are finding out is the future of business.
Ten years ago, the Internet as we know it hit screens. It was 1995 when Explorer and Netscape emerged as the leading browsers for Internet users. Of course, a lot has changed since the days when it took several minutes to load one Web page. Today, URLs are as common as phone numbers for most businesses.
Telecommuting may be the movement of the future, which will allow more people to work away from the office. Many people see telecommuting as a way to be close to home or allow them to be connected to their organization while working abroad. While telecommuting might work for some people, telecommuting is not for everyone. There are many disadvantages; as well advantages to telecommuting which most people do not take into account. When considering telecommuting, the advantages fall for both employer and employee. The same can be said about the disadvantages of telecommuting.
The purpose of this research is to examine the jobs of telecommuting workers and the benefits that come from working at home instead of at the office. Some businesses think that telecommuting does not help their business because workers are spread out. Yahoo, as an example, has effected thousands of workers by banning them from working remotely or away from the office. The ban requires employees to move their home offices to the nearest Yahoo Inc. office building or else risk being fired. This is definitely not a good move by the chief of Yahoo Marissa Mayer. It will make the employees less happy since they must move from the comfort of their homes to an office building. Without employee satisfaction, efficiency at the workplace will drop tremendously, and many workers may decide to quit their job and get another one somewhere else. Most of my sources help prove this and others of my sour...
The workplace today goes beyond just the walls and ceilings that surround an office environment or office building. According to the International Telework Association and Council, 44.4 million Americans worked from home at least part of the time in 2004, up 7.5% from just on year earlier (Earthweb, 2005). Though it may be very convenient to work from home, the choice can bring its own set of problems. There are financial reasons, efficiencies, and even managing time are just a few to name that bring about many challenges and issues that any remote employee would face in that type of work environment.
By definition, EDI is an electronic transfer of standardized transactions between two parties over a private network by use of computers. These transactions are business in nature and the parties would be a sender and a receiver computer. Zwass (2001) argues that internet dynamics have redefined E- Commerce and the traditional E-Commerce is fast moving to the internet. The redefined E- commerce now includes several other facilities such as electronic trading of tangible and intangible goods, online marketing, ordering payment and delivery, consultancy services such as advice, and the online company collaboration. This has lead to several other definitions of E-Commerce that are used in different contexts. For example, Timmers (2000) defined E-Commerce as the process of doing business electronically while Straight-on.com (2000), defined E-Commerce as conducting financial transactions by electronic means. Turban, Lee, King and Chung (1999) defined elec...
When given the opportunity to work from home, employees are going to be more loyal and could stay with the organization
Nature of doing business, over a period of time has changed with the development in the information technology. It was believed that the reduced cost of transactions done electronically will lead to decrease or disappearance of the traditional intermediaries which will reflect a change in the electronic value chain. The effect of electronic business will restructure the traditional market – Disintermediation where the traditional intermediaries will lose its existence; Re-Intermediation where they will be forced to set apart and will re-develop in the electronic business; and Cybermediation where entirely new markets will be formed for the intermediaries.
“We must make sure that technology does not dehumanize work”(Nixon, Richard). Technology is taking over the worker, potentially ruining working lives, but what if technology could help make work life better? Telecommuting is defined as “working at home by using a computer terminal electronically linked to one's place of employment” (Dictionary.com). Telecommuting combines technology and work without technology running the worker out of business. Working from home is a way to use technology to one's advantage before having it run them out of business.

By identifying potential E-business initiatives, online companies can better understand their customers as well as the supply chain of their customers and competitors (Basu, Muylle, 2007). Understanding the desires of your customers, translates into properly managing inventories. When companies dedicate their time to understanding how their product impacts a particular segment of the market, the opportunities for other e-business initiatives can be realized. Another advantage of identifying E-business initiatives can be to lower your delivery costs to both familiar and u...
E-business is a wider concept that takes into account all the aspects of use of information technology in business. Apart from buying and selling, it also includes servicing customers, collaboration with business partners, and engages incorporation across business processes and communication within the organisation (Rowley, 2002)
But in the use of the term “technology” today, there is far more associated meaning than automobiles or washing machines. It has ushered in an entirely new way of working, and in increasing numbers of organizations, increased options of just where work associated with a particular job will be done. More employees than ever have the option of working at home yet still being employed either full...
