The sales promotional ideas are often short lived or temporary but can be very effective in boosting sales from new and existing customers for an organization. They are especially effective in weaker economies. Rebates are one type of a sales promotional tool. Rebates are used to refund part or all of the purchase price of a product. Rebates can be from a manufacturer of a product or from the store that the customer purchased the item from. Consumers purchase an item and get a receipt from the store in which the item was purchased. Then the consumer will get a rebate form from the store and complete the form. Coupons are another sales promotion tool used by companies to attract new and existing customers to their product lines. Coupons are used to bring in short term additional business to the company. Coupons usually have an expiration date for the customers to use them. They can be for partial price reductions or for full price reductions.
