We live in a world where bullying is a major factor in society. What we know about bullying is that it is happening a lot to children in school. . What is bullying? According to Kathryn S. Whitted and David R. Dupper article bullying is, “ unprovoked physical or psychological abuse of an individual by one student or a group of students over time to create an ongoing pattern of harassment and abuse” ( 2005, P.168). People think that bullying is only when someone is being physical abused by someone else. Reports show that “bullying with physical means is more common among boys” (Olwenus, 1993, P.19). Females on the other hand use more subtle and indirect ways of harassment such as slandering, and spreading rumors (Olwenus, 1993). The main areas …show more content…

Social workers can educate the staff more on these problems. The more knowledge someone has on an issue like this the helpful they can be in these situations. They can get programs started for schools. They will be able to set up staff meetings and go over programs for Anti-Bullying. The main thing is making sure that the school is supporting this program and keeping up with it. Bullying should not be tolerated anywhere, especially to children. The way I would use all the information I got from these resources is putting it on a PowerPoint presentation and present the numbers I got and show it in the meetings. I would explain to staff how serious bullying is and what the effects can cause victims to do. I would also tell them where bullying mostly occurs. Tell them the signs of the victims and bullies. I would also tell them why bullies act how they act. I do believe that the research methods seemed appropriate. They were going out and seeing the kids that were victimized and figuring out how bullying was affecting them. I believe that they did a good job on going out and figuring out how serious bullying is and getting the information to give to everyone else about bullying. All the articles that I have read were very clear and understandable. I had no problem going in and picking out information and stats that I needed from the
