Sexual health is not just about your sexual relationship or your sexuality, but it also covers your physical, mental, emotional health and your well-being in the relation of sexuality. It is important for us to know that sexual health is not just all about adults but also teenagers and adolescents. There are a lot of factors that affects young people’s sexual health; one of them is drugs and alcohol. Alcohol and drugs can lead to serious consequences such as unprotected sex, or unconsented sex. This is because alcohol and drugs can reduce inhibitions and can result in poor decision making when people are intoxicated. If we know that it’s bad for our sexual health, why some people still do it? People use drugs to relax, to function, for enjoyment, to be part of a group, out of curiosity or to avoid physical and/or psychological pain. Drugs and alcohol affect your brain by tapping into its communication system and interfering with the way neurons normally send, receive, and process information while Alcohol not broken down by the liver goes to the rest of the body, including the brain. Alcohol can affect parts of the brain that control movement, speech, judgment, and memory, they both leads to your inability to judge the correct thing to do. This stops you thinking clearly about the consequences of your sexual actions, This means that young people who do drugs tend to do reckless and risky things, including hurting yourself or others, having unprotected sex causing the higher risk of sexually transmitted diseases such as HIV, chlamydia, etc. This can also lead to unplanned pregnancies which can also be caused by someone’s inability to critically judge their action which can also be caused by the use of drugs and
