“Wrinkles and bones, white hair and diamonds: I can't wait.” ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ is based in Manhattan's Upper East Side, during the final years of World War II. ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ is a classic novel and is taught throughout schools and has been for many years. The classics should be continued to be taught in the school curriculum as they continue to connect to modern audience especially through the characters throughout the book. The literary Canon is an authoritative list, as of the works of an author. These classics have been placed in the literary canon as they have been proven to be high quality and have stood the test of time. The movie is based on a blonde girl named Elle woods who only cares about what she looks like and Warner Huntington III her boyfriend who wants nothing more to be Mrs. Warner Huntington III. But unfortunately there is one thing stopping Warner from proposing to Elle is because he thinks that Elle Woods is ‘too blonde’ for him. Elle is determined to get Warner back so she’s gets all the help she can get to get accepted into Harvard. Law school is harder than what Elle wood thought it would be. Elle must go through the fight of her life, for Warner, for herself and for all the blondes who suffer endless humiliations every day. Once Elle wood is accepted into Harvard no one takes her seriously. By this being presented in the film it shows that people underestimate blondes and listen to all the stereotypes that people call female blondes. Elle woods makes many bonding friendships/ relationships throughout her journey to become ‘good enough’ for warner even though he became engaged to another girl Vivian who also attends law school. Vivian makes sure that everyone dislikes and puts Elle down as they all think she isn’t smart enough, but the friends she makes think otherwise. The characters in the movie are so important to have an effect on the audience who are watching this film. The issues shown throughout the movie is the judgment that Elle woods receives this also links back To Holly Golightly in the book ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’. Both these characters are underestimated by everyone and are judged as they are blonde and ditsy. This quote that Elle wood states in the movie shows that she comes off ditsy to the audience but at the end of the film she’s really a strong and smart women. ‘And last week I saw Cameron Diaz at Fred Segal, and I talked her out of buying this truly heinous angora sweater.
