The article Brainology Transforming Students’ Motivation to Learn,” by Carol S. Dweck talks about fixed and growth mindsets. I have a fixed mindset. In my opinion people have more intelligence than others. People with a fixed mindset give up more quickly when it comes to challenging tasks, but people with a growth mindset keep trying even if they fail at something.
All throughout high school I had a fixed mindset. It was easier for me to quit when something became too difficult because I had a negative attitude when I had to face a challenging task. Students with a fixed mindset feel like they will never achieve or improve the task they are struggling with. Instead of taking the risk and trying they rather just avoid the challenges.
