Marketing is a very interesting topic to me because I plan on becoming a marketing manager. A marketing manager estimates the demand for different products, finds which market the product will thrive in, and breeds pricing strategies that will maximize the market share. In order for me to educate myself on the field of marketing I need to examine the future of it and learn how to work with those ideas. The two articles I found are The Future of Marketing by Betsy Holden and Ten Top Trends Driving the Future of Marketing by Daniel Newman. Both articles discuss how the marketing industry will work in the future. Three prominent topics that exemplify how marketing will be in the future are the huge impact of social media, audience that each brand …show more content…
Social media is a great way for companies to easily put out their products and services. In the article Ten Top Trends Driving the Future of Marketing it states, “Brands will be able to strike up a more personalized relationship with their customers by leveraging the power of mobile” (Daniel Newman). If a company decides to use the power of social media to advertise, they can fairly increase popularity, which can lead to engagement with the customers that may currently omitted. Companies need to have a strong online database just like proclaimed in the article The Future of Marketing, “In this time of transparency, it's an absolute “must-do” and the companies that I work with have a strong digital code of conduct” (Betsy Holden). I can see where Holden stands with her claim, I also believe that it is necessary for a company to have a convincing digital code of conduct. Both articles clearly state that social media will be the next big thing to the marketing field and that companies need to get on that right away so they have a powerful customer …show more content…
If people are convinced with a certain type of advertise or product and so forth. In Holden’s article, she talks about how to get a seat at the “executive table”, meaning how to get a chance to succeed in marketing. She states, “That comes from understanding the customer, designing differentiated offering that communicate a brand’s unique value, and delivering above-market growth” (Betsy Holden). She explains how if people aren’t thinking the way you want them to (so they would buy your product) the company could be a complete fail. If they people’s mindsets are in the area that the company wants it to be, it could be a success. This basically means that if the people aren’t thinking the way you want them to then your company will not
Nair (2011) states, social media can be described as online tools where content, opinions, perspectives, insights, and media can be shared. Some people create content, while others lurk, observe, or disseminate content. At its core, social media is about relationships and connections between people and organizations.(p. 45) Due to so much information being shared through social media it has changed the way businesses interact with their business partners or vendors, businesses have also started to create new product because of the information that is available to them through social media, thus attaining higher profits. At the same time, because of social media and the amount of information that is shared through these services, businesses have been put in a position where they must be careful how they operate to keep their reputation and na...

Many organizations have had to change the way they operate because social media has become such a powerhouse that has to be implemented in their marketing and communication strategies.
Over the last decade, product marketing and ways through which communication takes place between manufacturers and consumers has changed tremendously (Belch & Belch 2004). Due to the technological revolutions and the rise of innovations such as the mobile phones and the internet, control over information has shifted apparently from the manufacturer's hands to the hands of consumers (Belch & Belch 2004). The market environment has also changed due to globalization of marketing strategies, loss of confidence in media advertising, increased reliance on targeted communication methods, and media fragmentation and so on (Belch & Belch 2004).
Social media is a modern way to manage the business; this is a useful to the companies to manage the existence in the market approach to the brand and consumers. Also, using a social media they are able to get the feedbacks from customers and able to improve their business. Additionally, social media is used everywhere by everyone and people go on it a lot of times in a day. Therefore it is important for the business to fit to the changes occurring in the market frequently in order to keep the business working properly and not losing customers.
This paper will discuss and identify the effects of social media, and what will make social media better through research on best practices. Social media is an imperative public relations tool for companies to utilize in their business practices. Social media cannot be regulated so anyone can say what they want about the company, whether it is good, bad or ugly. Social media is developing rapidly and there are new platforms daily, making it necessary for companies to not only be familiar with those platforms, but also know how to reach the consumer through them.
Marketing is not a static construct, but it grows and develops over time to become what is known as marketing today. “The marketing revolution divides neatly into four separate eras’, eras’ which parallel rather closely the classic pattern of development in the marketing revolution.” (Keith, 1960). The first of these 4 eras was until the 1930’s and was production and profit orientated, and are considered to be outdated. During this era “the new product decision was product oriented not marketing orientated.” (Keith, 1960). “The second era was a sales oriented era, whereby marketing was seen as a series of activities designed to produce profit through ascertaining, creating, stimulating, and satisfying the needs/wants of a selected segment of the market.” (Eldridge, 1970, p. 4). The 3rd and 4th eras are a representation of what
According to Diamond 2008, social media marketing is marketing that concentrates on people and not products. The company can represent the product through a promotional tool if possible, all that really matters is the customer’s feedback. Marketers are scared about social media marketing because people provide and control the content posted, therefore negative word of mouth can be said about the brand which can spread worldwide in the twinkle of an eye. Social media does not only help companies and brands expand or create awareness, it also influences consumer behavior in terms of gathering information, purchasing decisions, opinions, attitudes and brand evaluation. Marketers need to post topics that will create great conversations with consumers using the platform.
Social media is pertinent in use of communication throughout today’s organizations. There are many social media platforms that allow organizations to convey communication to potential consumers, stakeholders and the public. “It is essential for leaders to integrate these technologies and seek the best way to use social media and networks to the advantage of the business” (Billington, 2012, p.1). Business owners find that keeping up with current technology trends is essential in having a competitive advantage in the market place and having a strict set of standards and strategy is important in quickly adapting to social media trends.
In order to understand marketing one must first analyze the history of production and sales as it advanced into a marketing based approach to customer satisfaction. By definition according to rdi, “marketing is a business philosophy, the process responsible for anticipating, identifying and satisfying customer current and future needs”(rdi, 2011). To appropriately cognize marketing, one must acknowledge the evolutionary progression that transpired allowing the concept of marketing to establish existence. This progression began from trial and error initially focusing on product, and then sales, then the customer’s wants and needs; which brings us to our purpose for this dialog. Marketing is simply an advancement of two other philosophies the product philosophy, and the sales philosophy.

Social media is the modern version of the paper plus more. In modern society technology runs the world and the same applies to advertising and a company’s success because social media can spread the word fast and get your business recognized by a lot more consumers.
