The Five Best Characteristics of My Teachers:
1. Demonstrates Positive Attitude/Behavior: An example would be my first grade teacher. She always presented herself respectfully. She set a good example for all of her students and it influenced them to do the same.
2. Interesting Class/Material: My high school history teacher always kept things interesting. He never did the same thing every day and he rarely lectured us. One day he may have started a discussion and the next day he may have used media to give a more detailed description of the topic that we discussed the day before.
3. Sets High Expectations: My high school AP English teacher is a good example for this characteristic. She would not tell us that our work was great if it was not. She always told us what we needed to work on and made sure that we did the best we could. She made sure that we knew what was expected of us and stayed on us until it was done. It really helped us push ourselves and set high expectations for ourselves.
4. Demonstrates Fairness: I had many teachers throughout elementary and high school who demonstrated fairness in the classroom. At the time, I did not understand that fair doesn’t always mean equal. I would wonder why teachers spent more time with certain students, but now I understand that the teachers were assuring that all students were given what they needed to succeed.
5. Knowledge of Content: My high school Algebra teacher was very knowledgeable of her content area. She could explain the rules and methods of Algebra with ease. She also knew how to make it easier for her students to understand.
The Five Worst Characteristics:
1. Shows Favoritism: One of the students in my 6th grade science class was related to the ...

... I feel similarly about teachers who choose lecturing as their main method of instruction. It is very boring and can cause problems with learners who are not auditory learners. I also will avoid presenting a negative attitude around my students. I believe that if you portray negativity, it is normally what you receive in return. It is better to show respect to get respect in return. Setting high expectations and boundaries will be very helpful for your students and show them that I can still have a positive attitude when something doesn’t go the way I believe it should.
Overall, I believe that there are many characteristics that I should model if I wish to succeed as an educator. However, I also understand that there are many that I should avoid if I am going to be an effective educator.

The key aspect of teaching is engaging the students. I can testify that I learn best when the teacher is involving me, as well as others, in the assignment. Making the material personal is a useful skill and helps the students learn at a faster rate.
Successful teachers develop the whole child by making integrated efforts to promote their student’s academic, social and emotional learning. Children need to be aware of themselves and others; make responsible decisions, and be ethical and respectful of the people around them.
That is, they show initiative and responsibility. They are highly motivated, confident in personal values and are result oriented. The research also brought
Education is a very important aspect of our lives. It is our education that makes us who we are and determines what we become. Therefore, education is not something to be taken lightly. As a teacher, my goal will be to provide the best possible education for my students. Every student is unique. I must see students for who they are individually and respect their ideas and opinions. Each student has a different learning style. I must take this into consideration because I want to provide a constructive learning opportunity for every student. I believe that every student has the potential to learn.
I’ve had teachers who taught in a way that was a good way for them to teacher, but wasn’t a good way for students to learn. I know I want to be a high school teacher, and by the time they will reach my class, my students should know how they should be presented the information, so that they can learn in such a way that is best for them. A teacher should be able to teach in a way that’s suitable for the majority of students, and be able to give extra help to those who don’t learn as the other students do. I want to be the teacher who is willing to put in extra time with the students for their classroom
Everyone knows that when it comes to making a difference in a child’s academic and life achievements, their teachers play a large role. A teacher’s ability to relate to their students, and teach them to achieve both socially and academically contributes to how effective they are. What does it mean to be an effective teacher? Overall there seems to be an emphasis on teacher effectiveness related to how well their students are performing on standardized testing. As teachers we know there is more to being an effective teacher then just teaching our students based on tests. This paper will identify different definitions of an effective teacher along with how to assess teachers on being effective.
The forth characteristics identified in this article is pragmatism, the willingness to make compromise. In Laura’s (Colker) surveys she found that participants felt was that to be an effective teacher you must understand that sometimes you have to settle for small goals that help you work towards a larger end goal.
Furthermore, teachers need proper training and the preparation because if a teacher knows the material very well and gives the students a well-written lesson plan, then the students could know about what is being taught to them. For example, the students could notice about what their main focus is on the subject. Furthermore, when a teacher hands out a handout; then it gets very easy to follow during instructional time in the classroom. Therefore, that is when knowledge of learning and
This has been a challenge my 1st year of teaching. An effective teacher will know and understand the Common Core Standards. A teacher should be able to bring their own life experiences into the classroom by understanding a remembering what might have kept us from learning. Applying rewards to students as we go through the learning process. Little bonuses are a plus when working, whether you are a student or working in the real world experiences. An effective teacher needs to know the goal and how to motivate their student to the end goal. Begin with the end in mind is a good
There are many things which make a teacher great and they all can`t be defined. However i`ve always considered several of them essential. In my opinion a good teacher is someonewho first of all creates interest in studying, doesn`t underestimate the children, has equal expectations of siccess from everyone and last but not least likes his job.
Promoting fairness in the classroom not only gives the teacher respect but also gives the students a sense of safeness and trust within the classroom. Creating an environment that revolves around fairness, trust and respect will be beneficial to all of the children in the class. The terms respect and trust are pretty straightforward. There doesn’t need to be a debate on what those two mean, but the same cannot be said for fairness. When one usually hears the word “fair” it is often looked at as synonymous to the term “equal” but the two are not the same, especially in a classroom setting. The term fairness on the classroom level means that the individual students are given what he or she may need in order to be successful; fairness does not
In all, there are a myriad of teaching philosophies that educators have. Personally, I consider setting clear expectations for students and creating a respectful environment, acting as a facilitator in the classroom, creating relationships with students and their caregivers, and using positive reinforcement to be the most essential in order to create a positive, effective, and safe learning environment for students. Without using these philosophies when interacting with students in the classroom, I do not know how I would begin to attempt to teach them. In my future classroom, I plan to use different strategies to implement these philosophies in my class every day as well as continue to learn about new ideas about how to promote learning in a supportive, encouraging way.
...sionate professors who helped shape the type of teacher I would like to be. They found ways to talk to me in a manner that motivated me to want to improve, all while honoring the work that I have already done. I would like to bring this same moral into my classroom, when a child is motivated, passionate, and self-aware of their needs, strengths, and weaknesses, they can and will push themselves to improve. Students do not solely care about how much knowledge an educator has, but they care about how much these educators truly care. We shouldn't judge a person on how educated they are based only on test scores. The most educated person may not be the most suitable person to teach children. I may lack the test scores, however, I do not lack the passion and motivation needed to be a great teacher. If we cannot celebrate small successes, the final outcome is less weighted.
One good quality a teacher should have is, respect for the students. Each person’s ideas and opinions should be valued and not judged. They should be able to express themselves without feeling insecure. Another good quality is, having high expectations for your students. Each student should be encouraged to do their best and achieve goals that they may have never met before. Another good quality is, I believe a teacher should have is good communication skills. They should keep not only the students informed on what is going on in the class, they should definitely keep the parents informed as well. Teachers need to know how to communicate with all their students because some are at different levels than others.
