To believe or not to Believe, in Paranormal Activities, is the Question Fear makes us feel alive, and the existence of other entities in our world conducts fear in our hearts, but so does their nonexistence. If they exist, it means they are always around, they could hurt us, and they are not tangible to us, while their non-existence means we’re all alone in this world. Alone or not, either ways it is pure horror. Paranormal activities mean beyond the range of normal activities or scientific explanation. According to a Harris poll, almost half of the world believe in all the different forms of paranormal activities, whereas 42% of the Americans, 52% of the British, and almost all of the Asians believe in para-normalities. The Bermuda Triangle, also known as The Devil Triangle, is the most known mystery in the world. It is a stretch of the Atlantic Ocean bordered by a line from Florida to the islands of Bermuda, to Puerto Rico and then back to Florida. According to CAUPP approximately 2000 ships and planes, and their crews, had been disappearing since 1942, without a trace. These are only the ones reported. Some people believe aliens are behind this, others believe some crystals from the long lost city of Atlantis, “this inexplicable phenomenon has provided an ample battlefield for a fierce controversy that has raged since the early 1960’s.” (CAUPP). There is also The Racetrack Playa. It is not as popular as The Bermuda Triangle, but it is one unique phenomena. The Racetrack Playa is basically rocks moving due to unknown factors and their destination remains anonymous. Furthermore; there is the ‘center of the world’ Tulsa. It is a circle that has been denying the known laws of physics since the 1980’s. If you stand in the center of the circle and shout at any direction, your shout is echoed back way louder, but no one out of the circle can hear it... in fact anyone out of the circle can’t hear or talk to anything/anyone inside the …show more content…
The OUIJA board has been one of the creepiest most known games; supposedly, it connects you with the spirits domain, and your questions are answered. Surprisingly, most of the answers are right. However, psychology explains this phenomenon through the ideomotor effect; Ideomotor actions are unconscious, involuntary motor movements that are performed by a person because of prior expectations, suggestions or preconceptions (Jackson). There is also the Mass Hysteria theory. Mass hysteria by definition is a form of groupthink, in which many people behave or react to something real or imagined in an uncontrolled or extreme way, and it spreads through: sight, sound, smell, or conversations. Mass hysteria is one of the most logical theories explaining mass-supernatural experiencing incidents. Just in the past century there were about 15 incidents reported of mass hysteria. One of these incidents is ‘The Phantom Slasher of Taiwan’; he slashes with a razor. For two whole weeks in 1956 the people, in the vicinity of Taipei, Taiwan, feared the slasher; approximately twenty slashed victims were reported. There was even a man who claimed that he was slashed by a male figure carrying a black bag, but when the doctor said that the wound wasn’t made by a razor, the man, the victim, said that he couldn’t really remember
“The strange thing about the paranormal is that no matter how often [a person proves] it, it remains unproven” (Chopra). Given personal experience and evidence by professionals that have dedicated their lives to find answers regarding the paranormal and the afterlife. There will always be skeptics so long as there are humans with their own thoughts and opinions. Despite what skeptics say, ghosts exist; there are several eyewitness accounts, religious traditions, and traditional cultural stories that support the paranormal.
Hysteria is characterized as an uncontrollable outburst of emotion or fear, often characterized by irrationality. Wherever hysteria takes place, it seems to condone distortion of the truth, unfathomable actions, and illogical accusations causing communities to rip apart. Hysteria supplants logic and enables people to believe that their neighbors, whom they grown to trust, do things that one would normally find anomalous. People who died in the haste of fear and uncertainty were often unnecessary because fear clouds the judgment and perception of a person.
hysteria. Some people participate in the hysteria out of fear. Others think more rationally and try to find an explanation. But no
The Bermuda Triangle is best known for its strange phenomenon and unexplained disappearances. It is located off the west coast of Florida. As stated in the article “Bermuda Triangle: Where Facts Disappear” written by Benjamin Radford, a deputy editor of the scientific magazine Skeptical Inquirer, the points of the triangle are located in Miami, Florida, San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Bermuda Island (qtd. in NOAA). The Bermuda Triangle covers roughly 500,000 square miles of the deep Atlantic Ocean (Radford “Bermuda Triangle: Where Facts Disappear”). This great span of ocean and its abnormal phenomenon is often credited for the disappearances of boats, planes, and their crewmembers.
Mass hysteria has been a large part of history that has perplexed people over centuries. Dating as far back as the middle ages, many cases of mass hysteria have been documented. Beginning in 1693, the Salem Witch Trials became known as the most notorious case of mass hysteria. Three children began experiencing violent contortions and screaming outbursts. After being seen by a doctor, other girls started to exhibit similar symptoms. They accused people of being possessed by the devil and of practicing witchcraft. Twenty people were killed during the Salem Witch Trials (History.com staff). Additionally, in 1518, in a free city of the Holy Roman Empire called Strasbourg (which is now France), hundreds of people danced uncontrollably and unwillingly for days. It started with a woman who stepped into the street and danced fervently for days until she collapsed from exhaustion. Eventually, there were up to 400
As Elia Kazan said, “Whatever hysteria exists is inflamed by mystery, suspicion and secrecy. Hard and exact facts will cool it”. (Kazan 1) Past occurrences of hysteria have repeatedly shown that there’s typically a cause to the mob mentality. One instance of mass hysteria occurred with the outbreak of dancing in Strasbourg, France in 1518; it resulted in several deaths, and panic within the community, and an ongoing medical mystery.

“‘The ‘Bermuda Triangle’, or ‘Devil’s Triangle’, is a mythical geographic area’, states a fact sheet issued by the U.S. Coast Guard” (Gaffron 17). One of the most influential groups in the United States believes that the Bermuda Triangle is only a myth. “Most rational explanations for the incidents in the Bermuda Triangle, including the explanations given by the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard, include human error and environmental effects” (Obringer). The U.S. Navy has lost quite a few ships in the Bermuda Triangle region and believe that the reason behind those disappearances involved either human or technical difficulties. “Plane ditchings or explosions in flight may result from many causes; lack of visible evidence being explained by the truism that ‘It’s a big ocean’” (Berlitz 6) The reports from the people that actually lost lives believe in that something bad but normal happened which is a sound explanation for the
“In total, six airplanes and 27 men appear to have vanished” (How). On December 5th of 1945, five U.S. Navy bombers went missing without a trace of why. Later a rescue plane was sent to search for the plane and the survivors, but those planes disappeared as well. That incident is one of the most famous and well known disappearances in the area (How). The Bermuda triangle is an area in the Atlantic Ocean which many people believe mysterious disappearances have taken place. It reaches Puerto Rico, Florida, and Bermuda in a triangle shape that covers approximately 500,000 square miles (History). The mysterious disappearances in the Bermuda triangle are myths as evidenced by people who travel the area safely every day, there is no scientific proof of the mysteries, and there are scientific reasons why people have disappeared.
The mystery of The Bermuda Triangle has proven time and time again to be one of the world’s most bewildering phenomenons, and has kept scholars and conspiracists alike scratching their heads. It has defied all aspects of logic, science, likelihood, and probability. According to a late September, 2017 article by Holly Christodoulou, a writer for “The Sun”, “The Bermuda Triangle seems to have laid claim to at least 1000 lives via the mysterious disappearances of massive man-made vessels such as planes, boats, and cargo ships that remain unfound to this very day” (https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/2021520/bermuda-triangle-ships-planes-conspiracy-theories/).
It is a legend that has terrified sailors since Columbus first sailed towards America. Its name is not on any official map, but a quick Google search turns up 10,400,000 web pages, and 101,000 books. What legend is this? It is the legend of the Bermuda triangle. A host of theories attempts to explain the supposedly abnormal events in the Bermuda triangle in a supernatural or physically impossible way. These theories attract the most attention, and are what have promoted the Bermuda triangle to the status of “Legend”. Now, let us explore some of the more prominent ones, namely the Electronic Fog theory, the Hutchinson effect , and government experiments with advanced radar at AUTEC naval base.

Whether we choose to believe in the paranormal or not, we all have to realize that
The Bermuda Triangle, also known as Devil’s Triangle is an imaginary triangle located between the points of San Juan, Miami, and Bermuda. Christopher Colombus was the first to report odd happenings in the triangle. He claimed that odd lights appeared in the area, and that his compass was acting odd. Afterward, countless reports of missing ships and planes in the area have been noted. No one has an answer to the mystery, however several theories have been developed. The Devils Triangle is a common mystery and a contreversial subject because of the mystery that surounds it, the specific disapearances and paranormal activity that has been publicized, and researchers attention to the topic by their efforts to formulate theories and explanations to solve the mystery.
The Bermuda triangle is a place that boggles many scientists even in this day and age. The Bermuda Triangle, referred to by some as the Devil's Triangle, is in a western region of the North Atlantic Ocean where countless aircraft, ships and people have inexplicably disappeared. Throughout the years of 1955 and 1975 more than 428 vessels disappeared, along with 100 ships and 1000 lives (Obringer1). Where did these people and ships disappear off too and how come no remains were found is the mysterious question people yearn to find out. Back in the 1964, the Bermuda triangle was often nicknamed as The Devil's Islands, because sea travelers could hear various different screeching noises coming off the shores (Obringer1). The Bermuda Triangle is a whirl pool of mysterious occurrences where things have magically disappeared without any remains and no matter how many theories scientists come up with to solve the mysteries of this enchanted island, none come close to having answers for any incident that occurred on this island.
