Hearing and learning from other people's opinions on certain things will make students more enthusiastic in learning. There’s been a lot of discussion about closed campus at HVHS. I think having a closed campus at HVHS would be a wonderful idea! First the food that they serve at HVHS is super delicious and very nutritious. Second, students on a closed campus can socialize and get more involved with the students around campus making new friends. Third and last staying on campus can keep students safe and away from accidents and drugs.
Municipal Wi-Fi generally refers to the perception of turning an entire city or region into a wireless access zone with a goal of making wireless internet access a universal service (Delta and Matsuura 17). Municipal Wi-Fi is in most instances deployed in large parts of the municipal area or the whole of it by employing a wireless mesh network, which uses hundreds of outdoor routers on utility poles. Recently, there have been struggles for municipal Wi-Fi on whether it should be pursued or not, since the efforts to provide it free has proved futile. This leads to the question whether the municipal Wi-Fi should be pursued. If so, should it be left to the private sector, the government or both? This paper seeks to answer these questions.
The teacher asked us to look up an answer before quickly realizing that we were unable to use our phones in school. What is more irritating to her: the fact that her students could not have easy access to their phones to look up the answer or the few kids who are always distracted by their phones whenever she is trying to teach? Technology is becoming a new thing in this generation and trying to control the use of smart phones is incredibly hard. Aside from that taking cell phones completely out of students’ hands throughout the school day is unreasonable. This is the search-and-learn environment kids are involved in today. Now, when they want to know certain things they are only a search away from learning. This also gives students the ability to get an answer to a question they may feel uncomfortable asking in class. If a teacher uses a term they don’t understand, they can find the answer discretely, and without interrupting the class. Another argument made by this group would be that social learning is a great way for students to share information, thoughts and ideas on a subject. Students who may be quiet or shy in a classroom, may blossom and flourish when planted in a social learning situation made possible by digital devices. Electronic devices in the classroom can enhance the learning experience by providing instant video access. Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech, man’s first step on the moon, and presidential speeches are made more real and easier to digest in the form of instant video availability. Wi-Fi (Wireless Network) or 802.11 networking is a phenomenal way of providing Internet wirelessly at a low cost. Using radio waves, a wireless network connects a PC, mobile phone or just about anything that connects to the internet wirelessly by a router. By transmitting signals at 2.4 or 5 GHz it allows the waves to transmit more data at a faster rate. Typical Wi-Fi standards are 802.11a, b, g, n, or ac and they can switch up the frequency depending on the model (Brain). Families can create their own wireless network that can be shared between family members without the use of hooking all their devices up to the modem and can also protect their home network from potential hackers with the use of a TKIP or AES encryption. Businesses can also create a “hotspot” which is an area that has wireless networks for free or at a set fee. This is extremely convenient for commuters that need internet access while they are at work, waiting on a plane, or just sitting at a coffee spot without the need for wires(Cox).
The use of cell phones in schools is one of the biggest issues being debated today since technology is growing more and more every day. Students living on campus don’t have to worry about time because they live in the college. On the other hand, students who commute to school, have to worry about getting to class on time. Students living on campus don’t have to waste money on transportation or food since it is all covered under a plan. Unlike commuters, who aren’t covered under a plan, they have to pay more money to get to school as well as for food. Students who live on campus tend to know more people and they know more about what’s going on around campus. However, students, who commute, don’t have that advantage because they are home most of the time. Living on campus can be more beneficial than living at home in many ways.

While WLAN technologies offer the benefits of mobility, reduced installation time, and decreased cost, many challenges must be met by institutions deploying them (Geier, 2005). These issues are related to security, speed, interoperability, and equipment selection, ease of use, reliability, signal interference, installation, and health risks.

They proceed to either, read their e-mail, check their online courses for new assignments, or go on one of the many communication websites or programs that are available currently to this generation. None of this would be possible without the readily available Internet access that we often take for granted. The Internet has proven not only useful for entertainment purposes, but has also dramatically changed the educational approach, for both students and educators, and the way knowledge is being obtained.
Computers have always been useful, but not until recently have computers become useful for children who are twelve and under. Of course these children enjoy playing games and talking to there friends on the computer but due to new innovations coming out everyday children can now do a lot more then just play and socialize. Computers have brought school to the home. When children come home from school it used to mean school was over but today if you have access to the internet school is know longer over but just beginning on the internet. The internet has special educational sites that children can visit and learn from. Besides that children actually can have contact with there personal teacher from school. A new invention called the “Mobile Author can be used by human instructors either from a computer or a mobile phone to create their own Intelligent Tutoring Systems and to distribute them to their students. Students can also use any computer or mobile phone to have access to theory and tests.” (Source 2, Journal) Homework, notes, review assignments can now be given over the internet by the child’s teacher from there school. “Instructors can monitor their students; progress and communicate with their students during the course.” (Source 2, Journal) Children can learn new information on the internet and they are able to review and get extra help on things they don’t understand. If a child realizes that they do not understand something when they get home, they know longer have to wait to go in to school for extra help, but they now can communicate with there teacher online or they can go to an internet tutoring system which will give them just as much help as being in a regular classroom.
