There’s been a lot of discussion about closed campus at HVHS. I think having a closed campus at HVHS would be a wonderful idea! First the food that they serve at HVHS is super delicious and very nutritious. Second, students on a closed campus can socialize and get more involved with the students around campus making new friends. Third and last staying on campus can keep students safe and away from accidents and drugs.
The food that they serve here at HVHS is picked and made by professional’s. They are to do what they are instructed to do and make by the government. The food they make is not only best oh so damn good food you’ll ever eat but, it’s so nutritious and healthy for you! Plus students who go off campus for food
...College students are the next generation of food consumers just starting to purchase and prepare their own food, setting purchasing habits that will follow them into their lives as they start their own careers. These habits will shape what food is in demand, and therefore what food is produced. Not only do college students hold financial power over the future economy, but they must make the decision of whether to become the next unhealthy generation, that will also indoctrinate their children to accept the level of food quality that is currently labeled as junk food as a standard level quality of food.
The exchange of views whether a student should attend an HBCU or a PWI has been a topic of discussion for some time now. Whether you attend an HBCU or a PWI you go for one purpose and that purpose is to get your education. So who says because someone goes to a predominantly black school they will not get the same education a person gets that goes to a predominantly white school ? Or vice versa. Many people have some sort of idea that by attending a Predominantly White Institution(PWI) one will receive a higher level of education but that is not truly always the case. Most individuals are under the impression that simply because of your skin color you have to attend that type of school. That is the problem with this case just people see it as one should attend the college with individuals who are like you but not keeping one 's education in mind.
Schools are spending too much money with this program that could be spent on other benefits for schools. Rather than using the money to get students new technology or property it 's wasted on a lunch program that students do not enjoy nor want to purchase. Students should not be allowed to leave their school campus during lunch. An open campus would lead to truancy, disturb local businesses and neighborhoods, and cause crime.
Students, you, as well as I, have always felt the strain of limitations brought upon you this and past school years. These past years, the school board has been closing students’ ability to do almost what they please to an oppressive detention in which you cannot even walk the hallways to get a sip of water. How many times have you or heard that someone has been given a detention for just walking around the halls? How many times have you been hassled for trying to go to your car and sent back into the school by a so called “rent-a-cop” and a new enforcer cop? All of these and more are related to the idea of a closed campus. I, on the other hand, am on the behalf of an open campus. An open campus gives the student more freedom and responsibility to make the right decisions. As opposition, the closed campus concept would argue that not all or any of the students should receive such trustworthiness from the school. I think that not all but a select group of students should have the open campus opportunity. Another matter with open campus is money issues in many areas in which I will discuss.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, “Childhood obesity has more than doubled in children and quadrupled in adolescents in the past 30 years,” meaning that America’s children need to start eating healthier, including healthier school lunches. The National School Lunch Act is a fairly recent addition to American society. For, as the world waged war a second time, the United States began to worry about the strength and health of the country’s soldiers. However, in the beginning, selling excess agricultural goods was more important than building a healthy, well-balanced meal for students. Unfortunately, many children coming from poorer families could not afford well-balanced school lunches, so in order to compensate, the School Lunch Program changed its focus to help these students. This program, however, decreased schools’ lunch budgets, and schools had a hard time keeping up with the amount of free meals they had to provide, so they came up with some extra ways to increase revenue. However, in a small town in Massachusetts, one chef makes a difference in the health of the school lunch students eat each day, and proves that hiring a trained chef to cook real, healthy meals can increase profit. Unfortunately, that is not the case in most schools across the nation. The quality of health of the food being served in school lunches is extremely poor and was allowed to decline even more with a new set of rule changes. However, there are some improvements currently being made to increase the quality of health of the food being served to students, including teaching them all about food and its nutritional information, both good and bad. The anticipation of attending college floods teenagers with numerous thoughts. Living on their own, going to class when they please, staying out as late as they want, and surviving on food the dining hall provides or what they buy at the grocery store. More free time, or lack there of, may bring students spinning downwards towards bad eating habits and malnutrition. Rolling out of bed five minutes before class means grabbing a coffee on the way. Too much homework or a big project might mean skipping a healthy dinner and cooking some Ramen noodles or snacking on chips all night. This is where the “convenience foods” come in which are factory made dishes or meals that only need to be heated up or need just one or two additional ingredients.
One reason why i believe having closed campus at HVHS is a good idea because the food here is really good. They make the best food here, especially their nacho's. It's a good idea to stay on campus for lunch because they serve you healthy food. When you go off campus you eat nothing but unhealthy junk food. The cool part lunch is that the food is free, you don't have to go out and waste money for the same amount of food

College and University Food service is having its moment and was viewed as recently as twenty years ago as dowdy, bland and institutional. In a survey of C&U foodservice operators conducted last summer, Y-Pulse found that the biggest change seen in student expectations over the prior year was an increased desire for healthful and fresh items. Most students now don't grow up eating at home forever, or wait until mom is done cooking, walk in and ask “what’s for dinner”. They grow up eating Thai, Mexican, and Indian and from authentic ethnic restaurants, not Taco John's or Taco Bell. They have much higher expectations, which means we have to kick things up a bit. There is a thought that of Hatch valley high school to start having a closed campus during lunch hours. As in any fact that having a closed campus is not a good idea; that the students would not end up liking.
The cafeteria is not merely a place for small children; now that I am in college, I spend more time in the cafeteria than ever. Living in the dorms, I have no kitchen or any other place to cook. Instead, I have a meal plan that offers me fourteen meals each week at the Stanford/Hecht cafeteria. I eat lunch and dinner there as my two meals on most days. But, I do not and cannot go to the cafeteria and just get food. I get much more.
A typical first-year college student, as described from research at OSU, often skip meals and lacks the recommended amount of fruit and vegetable intake ("News and Research Communications," 2011). Often students are too busy with their schoolwork to sit down and have a proper meal, and causing them to lean towards the “easy foods”, which is often ramen. Either college students go for the easy option, which is often ramen, or they are constantly eating the wrong type of foods. However, not only are college students doing this but so are many other people, thus creating our horrible culture of eating industrialized foods. I have friends who are in different completely different from Denison. My best friend, Aileen, actually attends the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, which has a completely different environment from Denison. She claims, “Urbana is almost like a little city in which we sometimes have to take a bus to get to a class that’s all the way on the other side of campus” (Lopez). Denison is not exactly a city. I like to think of it as more of a community than anything. It doesn’t take long at all for us to get from one side of campus to the other. Unfortunately, she doesn’t know much about the food served at her campus, so I can’t speak much about it but I can still tell you what a college student could do to help in the change. Students living on campus don’t have to worry about time because they live in the college. On the other hand, students who commute to school, have to worry about getting to class on time. Students living on campus don’t have to waste money on transportation or food since it is all covered under a plan. Unlike commuters, who aren’t covered under a plan, they have to pay more money to get to school as well as for food. Students who live on campus tend to know more people and they know more about what’s going on around campus. However, students, who commute, don’t have that advantage because they are home most of the time. Living on campus can be more beneficial than living at home in many ways.
