Fun Ways To Make Dating Across the Miles Possible
Dating is a word that rings a bell to everyone. It mean different things to people from all walks of life. To the risk takers, it could mean a noteworthy adventure one has to tread while enjoying the bliss of singleness. To some they view it as a time in their life to get to know other people. To the hopelessly romantic ones, it is an avenue for them to sweep off somebody's feet and make someone fall head over heels. To the spiritually inclined, dating is an opportunity to exercise their trust and faith in God that someone out there is meant for them. 5. Plan to end the distance at a certain time.
They say that long distance relationship does not last. Don't get me wrong with this. What I really meant was, long distance relationship won't last because eventually distance will disappear especially if you two have plans to tie the knot and be together according to your time line. Staying stuck forever in across the mile date would leave you both miserable. For you to move forward towards making your relationship work, you must incorporate plans and goals for your future together.
In “A Million First Dates” (The Atlantic, Jan/Feb 2013), Dan Slater argues commiting to a stable relationship is negatively influenced by online dating because of a decline in commitment in couples. Essentially, the more options a person is given to find the perfect person in a short amount of time, the less they are inclined to stay in a relationship. For example, Slater’s case study subject, Jacob, a man with a difficult time meeting women and genuinely falling in love. After easily finding a dream woman on a dating website he found it easier to find someone else once their relationship ended. Hence, online dating made it easier for him (and possibly other users) to change views on a long or lifetime monogamous relationship. Additionally,
Personally, I would define 'marriage' as the legal union between a man and a woman. It is a vow, a commitment. Dating is an arrangement to meet a boyfriend or girlfriend at a particular place. There are different types of marriages, monogamous, polygamous and arranged marriages. Conversely, there is long-term and open dating. A big difference exists
Trends in Dating Think about how your grandparents met; was it at a job they both worked at? Then think about how your parents met, through their friend group? Now, how do you plan to meet your soulmate? Over the past ten years, dating has taken a complete 360-degree turn. Virtual love - love behind technology. Is this real love? Today love revolves around dating apps, online chats, and non-stop texting where people can hide behind a phone or computer screen. In Meghan Daum’s “Virtual Love,” she received an online message from a guy known as PFSlider. After reading the chat, she ignored it until she received another email where he admitted he had a crush on her. PFSlider, being from Los Angeles, and Daum from New York, agreed to meet for lunch on his yearly trip to New York. The two communicated back and forth everyday and their online relationship progressed. They arranged a meeting at a restaurant in New York where PFSlider obnoxiously talked and talked as Daum became annoyed. PFSlider continued to message and send flowers. Although Daum was upset from their first encounter, she decided to give the relationship another chance. After traveling to Los Angeles, she described the relationship as unfulfilling and ended it. As Daum concludes with, “Even if we met on the street, we wouldn’t recognize each other, our particular version of intimacy now obscured by the branches
And because of the influence of movies and media, it pressurizes people into subconsciously thinking that their date with that special someone should be extraordinary which usually ends up being rather expensive. While the same cannot be said about online dating as it is cost efficient and allows people to expand their horizons by not limiting themselves to the same circle of people. However, people are more likely to imagine their future with someone in traditional dating based on their personality, habits, and more, while the same cannot be said about online dating. But if done right, online dating can help a person meet other people in the real world who they have much in common with.
