Roman Williams Professor Carlton EDUC 1300 27 March 2024 Becoming A Technical Player As a soccer player, I have chosen to commit myself to a 32-day journey towards becoming a technical soccer player. This decision is driven by my desire to improve my overall performance on the field and create opportunities for my teammates. By developing strong technical abilities, I believe I can become a more effective player and make significant contributions to the team's success in the future. Improving technical skills, such as ball control, accurate passing, and dribbling techniques, will enhance those abilities while on the field. It will also set an example for my teammates, inspiring them to push for excellence in their own technical skills. A team made up of players with technical abilities …show more content…
Moving forward, I plan to apply the skills and lessons learned during this journey to my regular training routine rather than just to this commitment. I will continue to prioritize my development, incorporating specific drills and exercises into my practice sessions. Seeking opportunities to showcase my improved technical abilities in competitive games and tournaments is the plan for my future performance on the field. By going out of my way, this “increases chances of achieving long-term goals” (Parker-Pope). In the first phase of my 32-day commitment, I focused on building a solid foundation of basic technical skills. This included mastering dribbling techniques, improving ball control, and enhancing my passing accuracy. According to a study conducted by Smith et al, mastering dribbling techniques is crucial for players to maintain possession and navigate through opponents effectively. To achieve this, I engaged in repetitive drills focused on ball control, footwork, and maintaining close control while dribbling (Smith et al., 2020). I dedicate time to improving my passing accuracy, as accurate
Hours before a match, athletes in all corners of the world tend to freak out due to all the psychological factors that accompany performance in sports. Stop for a quick second and imagine becoming a Manchester United Striker or a Denver Broncos Wide-Receiver. For those who did not know already, these two positions are among the hardest in the sports world to play. Not only must the person assigned to these positions stay up until the early hours of the morning studying plays and formations so they might better assist their team come match day, but they also act as the main way the teams they play for get any points. If the expectation of being the team’s top scorers isn’t enough, they must also act as an inspiration to every other teammate that plays alongside them. Even though most people say psychological factors have no effect on an athlete’s performance in sport, athletes are negatively affected by the psychological aspects because of pre-game jitters they may experience, the relationship each athlete has with the stadium crowd, and the toll each match has on the athletes’ bodies.
Soccer involves two teams and two strategies. Strategy one requires offensively invading the opponent’s area and scoring, and the second strategy involves defensively protecting one’s own goal and keep the opponent from scoring. The main objective is to master the basic skills of soccer, including dribbling, passing, shooting, goalkeeping, and sportsmanship. Other objectives include applying these skills into game situations, demonstrating an understanding of the rules, comprehending how to play safely, and learning use equipment safely. The general intent is to teach life lessons, instill confidence, promote health and fitness. Life lessons include winning and losing courteously, work with others as a team, respect authority, respect fellow athletes, respect equipment and facility, and lastly, how to value delayed gratification. Confidence is instilled by learning an impressive game, learning to fit in, and learning to be part of something greater than themselves. something. Soccer also promotes health and fitness by teaching students that being fit feels good, an appreciation for a balance of work and play, and proper nutrition and hydration to perform at their
Athletes both professional and unprofessional have always have looked for ways to improve their performance on the field, diamond, or court, many of us, being the fans of these athletes admire them as heroes, role models and inspiration. We admire them so much
During practice optimal motivation and excitement need to be given to players to not only insure they progress in their skill aptitude, but also to make the environment fun, creative, and innovative for all athletes involved. Martens specifically describes the “flow experience” as an “optimal” time where players aren’t too anxious or under motivated to perform (Martens, 108). Coaches can heed this advice by planning light, medium, and intense exercise drills, changing the modes of exercise, changing the environment, or through utilizing the teaching principle called the “games approach” (Martens, 154). If the “games approach” is used then the monotony of training will decrease because fun tactical activities based around in game situations will be used instead of repetitive technique drills that often bore players and inspire them to quit a sport early in season. Shaping of play with different teammates or rules, focusing of play through freeze play drills, and enhancing play through different techniques are all effective ways to utilize the games approach to improve tactical sport awareness (Martens, 156). For instance, instead of practicing soccer free kicks repeatedly, the players could do 3 on 3 games utilizing half of the field, they could limit the game to midfield and freeze at times to see whoever gets the most
I played soccer since I was seven, as of the last few years I played at a very high level. I have represented Ohio South two times at a regional showcase, I have been invited to participate in a camp in Manchester, England and attended the camp twice. Also last Season for the Newark High School soccer team I was named first team all league and third team all central district. Soccer was the first sport I truly loved to do, I wanted to be the best. I work hours upon hours to master whatever part of the game I wanted to improve on. Soccer has taught me to have a great work ethic, and that mentality came when I was cut from the state team the first time I tried out. It was the worst thing that has ever happened to me, I was destroyed, and I thought I was not good but I knew I could do better. The next year I worked, I got bigger, stronger, faster, my soccer I.Q. was higher;therefore, overall I was a much better player. The result of that work, was that I made the team, but not only, I made the starting line up. After that I knew I could accomplish anything I put my mind to.
From soccer to football and baseball to basketball, each sport has its one valuable position. This one position is essential for the team’s victories. The player to fill this role must not only be a decisive leader but a skillful player as well. This spot requires hard work and dedication which in turn provides teammates with a satisfying example and contributes to the team’s victories. Not any player is capable of fulfilling these requirements so certain precautions should be taken when fulfilling these roles. Two complementary positions from two varying sports are the basketball point guard and football quarterback. Although their origins are from
Many people in this world enjoy playing sports, but they may not know the specific rules of the sport that they play. One of the most well-known sport that is played all around the world is soccer, which is commonly known as football in other countries. A huge number of people enjoy playing soccer. To play soccer, one must know how to play, what the rules are, the positions, and variations of the sport.
...ike at the ball. Individual skills are useful only when they fit in with the team. Soccer teams use strategies, and a good player must understand his responsibilities to the team and must use his skills accordingly. Soccer players must learn to think for themselves during games. Since there are no time-outs, they hear from their coaches only at half time - and then only for a few minutes. If adjustments in team strategy are needed during play, the members of the team must know enough to make them by themselves. Each player must be adaptable enough to play both offense and defense, to take the responsibilities of a teammate in certain situations. Every player must be prepared to do everything. Soccer provides a fine balance between individual skills and teamwork. Playing winning soccer requires the cooperative effort of eleven men and the individual skills of each.
Soccer is unequivocally one of the most popular sports in the world (López-Segovia et al., 2011). A survey conducted in 2006 showed that there were a total of 265 million male and female soccer players and 5 million referees and officials, or 4% of the world’s population, actively involved in the sport (FIFA, 2006). According to the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), 90% of all registered players were male, with younger soccer players comprising the greatest proportion (54.7%) of all registered male players (Daneshjoo et al., 2013). Due to the increasing popularity of soccer, as well as the increasing amount of financial interest in the game, soccer is one of the most extensively researched intermittent team sports (Ali, 2011). Soccer performance depends upon a number of factors such as technical/biomechanical, tactical, mental and physiological areas.
Soccer is a sport that’s very challenging and during the course of this semester I’ve found physics can also be described as challenging. As far as I was concerned soccer and physics were both challenging and that was all they had in common, consequently upon researching them both this semester I found that I was wrong. For me this was nothing new because I’ve found that physics isn’t a subject that can be skimmed, but rather it has to be studied to the finest detail. Those small details if missed can make all your efforts worthless. Or on the positive side understanding those details can make your efforts worth it in the end. And in soccer if you understand the physics, which to most players would be considered as the small details, it pays off in the end. So really how does physics come into play with soccer?
While playing soccer through the years, I have learned the importance of being a team player, a leader, and to think outside the box.
Soccer is a sport that takes a lot of commitment and teamwork to succeed in games. Even though most sports do take commitment and teamwork to succeed,
There are so many freedoms that everyday people take for granted. Over six million Jewish people were taken from their families and friends. Corrie Ten Boom a victim and survivor from the holocaust once stated “Worrying does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow. It empties today of its strength.” The stories The Prison Cell and Freedom to Breathe differed in their approach towards freedom, but were similar in their approaches to being held captive. This essay is going to tell you about their experience during their imprisonment.
In game play, players make an effort to create goal scoring occasions through individual control of the ball, such as dribbling, passing the ba...
