The Jersey Shore oozes Hawaiian vibes with the majestic deep purple acai blend from a roadside shack. I got to cross off “taste testing acai bowls” on my summer bucket list as I was stumbling across this gem near 10th avenue: Playa Bowls at the Pier Village in Long Branch Beach, New Jersey. After tanning and enduring a long day on the beach, it was the perfect revitalizing snack. I was hyped to know about a smoothie bowl spot on the beach after a few buzzes on the beach about the place and saw everyone holding one of these bowls on the boardwalks. The long line that went outside the door spoke for itself. Upon entering, the obstreperous pop music almost stopped my brain from functioning. I felt the tropical breeze right away by the razzle dazzle blue painted walls, and mainly of the blasting air conditioning. The massive surfboards and uncountable pineapples lined against the counter like candles let on to finding myself at Hawaii dancing to the music, dressed in a grass skirt and floral shirts. The wooden stools and long tables just tied together the whole tropic energy. The air was a blend of vigourous smells in fresh bananas, strawberries, and coconuts bouncing …show more content…
Written on four separate large chalkboards with eccentric color of chalks, it featured different variations of bowls. Choice for colors of the bases went from hot pink (pitaya-dragon fruit), magenta (acai), green (kale), and white (coconut). Each color follows with six to seven suggestion of toppings. Bowls can be topped with banana, blueberries, strawberries, granola, peanut butter, honey and nutella. I ordered the Pura Vida bowl which was an acai smoothie base with strawberries, blueberries and organic granola. The consistency was thick and perfect, like frozen yogurt. The combinations of fresh berries was refreshing; yet, the chunky honey granola dulcified the taste in your mouth and added a little crunch to the
Imagine yourself sitting on a lava rock cliff, hearing the ocean pounding the rock wall below. The salty sea spray cools your lips and the taste tickles your tongue. Feeling the sun against your skin, it is cooled by the mix of mist and breeze that plays with the palm trees. You could say I grew up in a place most people can only daydream about. When most people hear of where I grew up all they can picture is paradise. There is so much more to the “Aloha State” than the stale beachside hotels covered in an abundance of hibiscus prints with pineapples around every turn. The people, food, and land are the heart of the Hawaiian Islands.
The smell of the restaurants faded and the new, refreshing aroma of the sea salt in the air took over. The sun’s warmth on my skin and the constant breeze was a familiar feeling that I loved every single time we came to the beach. I remember the first time we came to the beach. I was only nine years old. The white sand amazed me because it looked like a wavy blanket of snow, but was misleading because it was scorching hot. The water shone green like an emerald, it was content. By this I mean that the waves were weak enough to stand through as they rushed over me. There was no sense of fear of being drug out to sea like a shipwrecked sailor. Knowing all this now I knew exactly how to approach the beach. Wear my sandals as long as I could and lay spread out my towel without hesitation. Then I’d jump in the water to coat myself in a moist protective layer before returning to my now slightly less hot towel. In the water it was a completely different world. While trying to avoid the occasional passing jellyfish, it was an experience of
When I stepped out of the hot, airless plane into the bright, dazzling sunlight beaming down across the burning concreate, I felt excited and nervous. Holding my beach bag in my hand and slipping my Ray Ban sunglasses on with my other, I flip-flopped down the airspace. Overhead I heard the screams of gulls and the chatter of the small fluffy birds. I suddenly realized I had arrived to Hawaii. This trip was such an unforgettable vacation for me because I got to witness the beauty of nature that Hawaii has to offer.
When my family and I could feel the warm fine sand, the gentle cool breeze, witness the crystal clear aquamarine ocean and swaying palm trees, and smell the sweet fragrant scent of plumerias, we must have gone to heaven. The enchanting beauty of this Hawaiian island, Maui, gives us a sense of warmth, peace, and serenity. In search of paradise, we explore the infamous Road to Hana, snorkel with underwater marine life, and journey back in time to experience the true customs, traditional cuisine and the original song, music and dance of Hawaii at a luau.
As my family and I walked into the plane, we were excited. The plane ride to jamaica stopped in L.A. and, after that, it went to jamaica. When we arrived in Jamaica it was really hot, but it was wet. I immediately took off my sweater I was wearing on the plane. We took a bus to our hotel. Then we started swimming in the water park. Every night there was a show in the main stage. The next day we woke up early to go to chukka. It was awesome. We saw a great house, rode on horses, and did a challenge course. After we came back from Chukka, we went to the water park and swimming pool at the hotel. Then we ate at fresh, which we went most of the time. The next day we woke up earlier to go to the dolphin cove. The bus was an hour late, but the wait

As I stepped off the plane, the warm tropical hues encased my body and sent a jolt of energy through my heart like I had just taken over 20 espresso shots. The first feeling I remember as I took my first steps onto the ground was comfort. I was home, the motherland, Puerto Rico. Excitement stirred in my mind and a feeling of peculiar longing for a place I did not grow up in and did not remember was oddly satisfied. My parents smiled like they were seeing a lover coming back from war, and that feeling was as contagious as the black plague. The island fever had entered my system and I was infected, the treatment was simply to take everything in and don’t hold back.
The gleaming sun is an orange on fire waiting to be picked. The silky, smooth sand that gushes between the toes, just soothes and warms anyone’s body. That incredible moment of the salty ocean breeze cooling the sweat right of hot pedestrians. The gorgeous palm trees spread about chasing people to give them relief and joy as they lay in the comforting hammocks to relax in peace. The pina-coladas spread through the body and refresh people with their cool and creamy substance that slowly soothes anyone’s throat. The experience is one of a

As I lay on the minute golden grains of sand, I looked up at the brilliant sky, adorned with flashes of pink and orange and purple, mirroring the colours of a flawless seasoned apricot. The goddess-like sun’s face is being embraced by the demure navy fingertips of the skyline.
“Aloha and welcome to Hawaii!” I heard someone say as I stepped off the plane into the 82 degree Hawaiian sun and watched as someone placed a beautiful flower lei around my neck. Ahhh, Hawaii, I couldn’t believe I was actually here! I had been waiting four long, stressful, and crazy years for this very moment. It was spring break of my senior year, my trip was a vacation to The Big Island with my parents and some of my other family members.
Ever since Sunset Beach has been officially opened to the public, there has been a drastic increase of tourists present. Television programs concluded that at least a thousand people visit the beach everyday. Reasons for their stay are that they feel comfortable with the environment that surrounds the beach front, people who are at the beach are joyous and numerous activities to enjoy, and the fresh scent of the sparkly waters, make the visitors feel calm and pleasurable. So I decided to take a trip there.
I use any excuse to walk along the ocean, especially alone and without my phone. The wind blew cold air, but the sun’s warm rays kept my body at a perfect temperature. It was three in the afternoon and I was calm.
1. The setting of the diary entries was at the beach (for my diary entries) on the 24th of January 2017. 2. In one of the diaries entries I was angry, displeased and frustrated due to my forceful attendance of the beach with my family. This is all whilst witnessing my friends having fun without me on Instagram and a series of unfortunate events including the heat, the beach looking rough and a seagull stealing my chips.
