“Aloha and welcome to Hawaii!” I heard someone say as I stepped off the plane into the 82 degree Hawaiian sun and watched as someone placed a beautiful flower lei around my neck. Ahhh, Hawaii, I couldn’t believe I was actually here! I had been waiting four long, stressful, and crazy years for this very moment. It was spring break of my senior year, my trip was a vacation to The Big Island with my parents and some of my other family members. I could feel the heat from the sun on my air conditioned, semi-pale skin. Hawaii, at first was not how I pictured it to be. It was very dry and barren. The airport was located outside which was pretty cool. You didn’t have to deal with noisy and crowded terminals. The first thing we did when we got to Hawaii was go to Costco. Of course when you go to Hawaii, one of the main things to do is go snorkeling. This warehouse club sells …show more content…
Palm trees sway serenely in the wind and you can swim in the warm salty seas. If you need a week to let your mind wander to a place of serenity, Hawaii is the place for you. Just imagine how much you would enjoy night snorkeling while massive manta rays brush their soft stomachs against your own. Or wandering through the tropical forests only to discover a mesmerizing waterfall around every corner. There are so many islands and on each you can find new adventures. Hawaii, in my opinion is a place that every person should experience at least once in their life. I know that it is not very cheap, but it is totally worth it. Going to Hawaii was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. I did a lot of things that I told myself I would never do, like going in the deep dark ocean at night to snorkel with these massive manta rays. Or zip lining through the tropical forests at 1200 feet off the ground, anything and everything I did was so amazing and something that I feel everyone should

Imagine yourself sitting on a lava rock cliff, hearing the ocean pounding the rock wall below. The salty sea spray cools your lips and the taste tickles your tongue. Feeling the sun against your skin, it is cooled by the mix of mist and breeze that plays with the palm trees. You could say I grew up in a place most people can only daydream about. When most people hear of where I grew up all they can picture is paradise. There is so much more to the “Aloha State” than the stale beachside hotels covered in an abundance of hibiscus prints with pineapples around every turn. The people, food, and land are the heart of the Hawaiian Islands.
When I stepped out of the hot, airless plane into the bright, dazzling sunlight beaming down across the burning concreate, I felt excited and nervous. Holding my beach bag in my hand and slipping my Ray Ban sunglasses on with my other, I flip-flopped down the airspace. Overhead I heard the screams of gulls and the chatter of the small fluffy birds. I suddenly realized I had arrived to Hawaii. This trip was such an unforgettable vacation for me because I got to witness the beauty of nature that Hawaii has to offer.
When my family and I could feel the warm fine sand, the gentle cool breeze, witness the crystal clear aquamarine ocean and swaying palm trees, and smell the sweet fragrant scent of plumerias, we must have gone to heaven. The enchanting beauty of this Hawaiian island, Maui, gives us a sense of warmth, peace, and serenity. In search of paradise, we explore the infamous Road to Hana, snorkel with underwater marine life, and journey back in time to experience the true customs, traditional cuisine and the original song, music and dance of Hawaii at a luau.
This past summer, my family and I went on a cruise to the Bahamas. We had just docked at the second port, Nassau, and were preparing to exit the gigantic ship named the Carnival Fantasy. Once we got to the city, I noticed it was bustling with people of all different backgrounds and cultures. The roads were narrow and some even hilly. I remember coming to the conclusion that a lot of people in the Bahamas must have road rage what from the blaring car horns I could hear around every corner. My family and I were walking along the sidewalk, glancing into shops as we passed them. The weather was unbearably hot, but growing up in South Carolina allowed my family and I to push onward with our adventure. The sun burn on my back started to pulsate in pain any time the sunlight hit it, so we decided to stick to the side of the buildings that provided shade.
Honolulu, Hawaii and Nassau, Bahamas are two very popular tourist destinations. However, in two different oceans, they are both located on an island. The cities each attract tens of thousands of visitors a year. It can difficult to try and decide which place to spend a vacation. I have vacationed in both these places. Honolulu, Hawaii is the best place to travel due to its superior weather, tourist attractions and resorts, and culture.
Most people experience dramatic events that demonstrate to them just how fragile life is. Whether these events are acts of gruesome violence, or deaths of a loved ones, the frailty of life is evident. However, for me, this was a different story. As a southern white-boy, my realization came in the most unexpected of places – the Hawaiian Islands. When I learned of a snorkeling trip mid-vacation, I was overcome with anticipation and couldn’t wait to embark on my “Pacific Pilgrimage.” This vacation would prove to be a dramatic turning point in my life.
Hawaii also creates the perfect location for a love story. Mark O’Bannon guides young writers that choosing a setting is nearly as important as the story itself. He encourages people to think about the genre and the message it portrays (O’Bannon 1). Hawaii offers the perfect answer to everything screen writer Wing wanted to drive through to viewers. Hawaii is charming with white beaches, beautiful flowers, and stunning sunsets. All of these natural beauties offer the ideal equation to a heart touching love story. Although it is stereotypical, Hawaii is the perfect location to host such a unique story.
Ancient Hawaii, an old civilization. This has shaped modern Hawaii and our lives. From its climate, politics, education, religion, art and architecture, technology, economics, and social live. The ancient Hawaiians are fascinating.
Hawai'i is a land full of diverse people and ideas, starting from the Polynesians who decided to cross the ocean to settle and form the traditions practiced today by the Hawaiians. Unlike many other states, the beliefs of Hawai'i have managed to stay alive. Its unique culture is what attracts tourists most. Many people see it as a vacation spot, full of fun attractions and say, “When I go to Hawai'i I'm going to get some Hawaiian tattoos, they look so cool!” or “I'm going to buy a hula skirt, they're really pretty!” But all those hula dances and tattoos are not just for show. People do not know that there is more to it than ink or hip swaying; behind every hula skirt and every tattoo there is a story. Hawai’i’s culture consists of the significance of its dances, tattoos, and traditions that give Hawaiians their unique lifestyle.
Hawaii, a place where tourists sip on their Mai Tai and enjoy strolls on soft sandy beaches overlooking the crystal blue ocean that reflects the sun-oh-so-nicely. A place to send the kids off to Hula lessons while the parents can finally get that outdoor massage they deserve. How could someplace resemble paradise so closely? No wonder it’s a signature vacation spot for families all over the world. One might ask how one of the world’s most
