I can honestly say that going to Hawaii with my family was the best trip of them all. Everybody who came to Hawaii with me had a blast; all laughs and lots of positive vibes. In my opinion, Hawaii is the place for relaxation, and the place to get away from the familiar faces I see. Everything about Hawaii is amazing; from the sunsets being beautiful, to the beaches being amazing. Also there is something different about walking downtown when it comes to the beaches at night. The sound of the waves going back and forth were music to my ears. If I could go to a place every time I wanted to get away, I would chose over any place I’ve gone to so far. Riding jet skis made me realize that it was something I loved to do. I finally was able to ride to the jet ski by myself, because when we went to Hawaii the first time I wasn 't old enough to ride by myself so I had to ride on the back with my dad controlling the jet ski. Now that I was old enough to drive one myself, I became comfortable with the jet ski and I had a blast driving the jet ski around the course. We decided to go to the zoo while we were out there. For some reason, that zoo was very different from the zoos in the Bay Area. The zoo was as big as the beach in my opinion. I remember watching the apes play fight with each other over a toy car that little kids would play with. It was about eight apes and one of the apes didn 't have a left hand, because he injured himself when he was a baby. It was honestly a productive day for us. Going on this trip was the best thing I could 've did in my life so far. It was much needed for the time being and for everybody to have a good time was a blessing to me. Cherishing every moment with my family brings me closer to them every time we meet up. That is why I think Hawaii is a place to get peoples mind of things; it is a relaxing place to get away. When I stepped out of the hot, airless plane into the bright, dazzling sunlight beaming down across the burning concreate, I felt excited and nervous. Holding my beach bag in my hand and slipping my Ray Ban sunglasses on with my other, I flip-flopped down the airspace. Overhead I heard the screams of gulls and the chatter of the small fluffy birds. I suddenly realized I had arrived to Hawaii. This trip was such an unforgettable vacation for me because I got to witness the beauty of nature that Hawaii has to offer.
Honolulu, Hawaii and Nassau, Bahamas are two very popular tourist destinations. However, in two different oceans, they are both located on an island. The cities each attract tens of thousands of visitors a year. It can difficult to try and decide which place to spend a vacation. I have vacationed in both these places. Honolulu, Hawaii is the best place to travel due to its superior weather, tourist attractions and resorts, and culture.
In the central area of the Pacific Ocean lies the Hawaiian Islands spanning 2,400 kilometers long beginning at Kure Island, located in the northwest to big island of Hawaii (Edge of Fire). This island is 3,000 kilometers away from the nearest continent, which is North America. The creation of the islands today came from “Hotspots”, which are characterized as plumes of magma rising from the mantle of the Earth through the continental crust, creating huge shield volcanos which contribute to the land mass that subsequently gets created. With the help of divergent (creation) and convergent (destruction) zones, the Earth’s crust eventually moves the newly created landmass off the Hot Spot plume, effectively rendering the volcano extinct, and allowing for new land to be created over the still stationary (and active) plume in the mantle.
Hawai'i is a land full of diverse people and ideas, starting from the Polynesians who decided to cross the ocean to settle and form the traditions practiced today by the Hawaiians. Unlike many other states, the beliefs of Hawai'i have managed to stay alive. Its unique culture is what attracts tourists most. Many people see it as a vacation spot, full of fun attractions and say, “When I go to Hawai'i I'm going to get some Hawaiian tattoos, they look so cool!” or “I'm going to buy a hula skirt, they're really pretty!” But all those hula dances and tattoos are not just for show. People do not know that there is more to it than ink or hip swaying; behind every hula skirt and every tattoo there is a story. Hawai’i’s culture consists of the significance of its dances, tattoos, and traditions that give Hawaiians their unique lifestyle.
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park The Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is about 30 miles southwest of Hilo. It is on the big island of Hawaii. This park is the home of Kilauea Volcano. Kilauea is one of the most active volcanoes on Earth.
Out of all the trips I have taken, Cancun was definitely the best. It was 2013 and I was in fifth grade. I had known about the trip for weeks and I was so amped up for the plane ride, for the hotel, and especially the ocean. I was in science and the teacher was getting mad because I was distracting all the kids by jittering all over the place. Finally I heard my name called over the intercom and I leaped for joy and ran out of the classroom. From school we drove to the Iowa Airport, got our tickets and loaded onto the plane. Our first plane took us to Chicago, Illinois where we boarded a plane , at the O’Hare International Airport, departing for Cancun,Mexico. The second plane was very lengthy, I tried to sleep but I didn’t actually fall asleep
Arvin discusses the representation of Native Hawaiians and the complexity surrounding this identity. Native Hawaiians have been denied the status of indigenous people and had their land taken away. Arvin explains several cases of spectacle philanthropy which aim to solve issues like the growing homeless population while ignoring the deeper causes to these problems. Native Hawaiians are expected to simultaneously perform as “good citizens” working towards the American dream while at the same time be culturally different. Many Native Hawaiians do not consider themselves U.S. citizens and are often overlooked in media and political representation. Arvin argues that rhetoric surrounding Native Hawaiians is built on a U.S.-centered framework and must be examined with a global perspective in order to productively challenge modern thought. Analyzing Native Hawaiians and the Akaka bill in a comparative global frame can also assist in a broader understanding of citizenship and indigeneity.
While walking down the beach, the white, warm sand mushes between your toes. The sun’s radiant rays beam off your glowing skin. The sound of waves crashing blocks out the external world. There is no other place like the gorgeous tropical islands of Hawaii. The wide range of flowers, cuisine, and wildlife makes it one of the most diverse places on Earth; however, the unappealing aspects Hawaii makes it one of the most dangerous in the world.
I took a trip to Colorado In July of 2015 it was the best week of my life. The best part of that week was the day that I got to spend in rocky mountain national park. It was a great experience with beautiful scenery and wildlife everywhere you looked. This is the Hawai'i tourists know. This is the Hawai’i they visit. However, this Hawai'i is a state of mind, a corporate-produced image existing on the surface. More precisely, it is an aftermath of relentless colonization of the islands' native inhabitants by the United States. These native Hawaiians experience a completely different Hawai'i from the paradise tourists enjoy. No one makes this as clear as Haunani-Kay Trask, a native Hawaiian author. In her book, From a Native Daughter: Colonialism and Sovereignty in Hawai'i and through her poetry in Light in the Crevice Never Seen, Trask provides an intimate account of the tourist industry's impact on native Hawaiian culture. She presents a negative perspective of the violence, pollution, commercial development, and cultural exploitation produced by the tourist industry. Trask unveils the cruel reality of suffering and struggling through a native Hawaiian discourse. Most of the world is unaware of this.
I chose to write my essay on these two cultures, because they are both native to their land, and they were both overthrown, for lack of a better word, from their homeland by more “Civilized” people. They were both thriving, self sufficient cultures that were living and progressing fine on their own. But others saw them as primitive and wanted to change them. My most memorable family vacation took place two years ago. We went to Corsica, a French island situated in the south of France right next to Italy.
