Hawaii Volcanoes National Park The Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is about 30 miles southwest of Hilo. It is on the big island of Hawaii. This park is the home of Kilauea Volcano. Kilauea is one of the most active volcanoes on earth. The chance to see this creation and destruction makes this park one of the most visited National Parks in the United States. The Hawaii Volcanoes National Park was founded on August 1, 1916. The park holds 333,000 acres of land from the sea to the highest point of Maunaloa. At this National Park you may find miles and miles of hiking trails through volcanic craters, hot deserts and rainforests. They have Drive Chain of Craters Roads, Ranger Programs, A Walk Into The Past, and After Dark in the Park.
Maunaloa last erupted in 1938 and Kilauea has been erupting since January 3,1938. The Hawaii Volcanoes National Park was named a World Biosphere site by UNESCO in 1987. Kilauea is also called the world's only drive-in volcano. The Volcano House is the closest hotel to the park. It is close to the Halemaumau Crater. It has been in business since it was a grass shack in 1846. The desire to study the earth forms the park's main theme, coming close behind is biology. Thousands of unique organisms have gradually isolated Hawaiian islands. These are reminders of Polynesian pioneers who directed their great hulled canoes to Hawaii about 1,500 years ago. With the lava flowing at a rate of 800 to 1,300 gallons per second from vents on the east side zone of Kilauea, more than 500 acres of new land have been added to the island since 1938. The eruption of Kilauea still continues to flow at two places in the park. The vent within Halema'uma'u Crater and the Pu'u 'Ō'ō vent. In conclusion, the trip to the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park should be an experience to remember. In this trip you will experience a cultural, creative, inspirational, and memorable theme. The Park has many visitors each year, to my knowledge the experience is

Katmai National Park and Preserve encompasses 3,674,529.68 acres of land. It would fit in the state of Pennsylvania about eight times. Katmai National Park and Preserve is located on the northern tip of the Alaskan Peninsula and is made up of six active volcanoes and the surrounding forests, lakes, and mountains. Maybe the most well known of the volcanoes are Novarupta and Mount Katmai, famous for their eruption in 1912.
Mauna Loa is Earth’s largest volcano and most massive mountain as it takes up nearly half of the flourishing landscape of the island of Hawai’i. This island is actually made up of five volcanoes, Kohala, Mauna Kea, Hualalai, Mauna Loa, and Kilauea, all in such close proximity that they fused together to form one whole island. Mauna Loa is located in the south central area of Hawai’i, in the Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park and its coordinates are 19°5' N, 155°6' W. It is 13,680 ft above sea level, but if one measures from its true base on the ocean floor, it is estimated to be 30,080 feet tall. Its name is quite fitting as it means “Tall Mountain”.
