Segments and targets
As discussed in Section 4 our consumers are students and parents. This section will segment the market and discuss targeting techniques. Firstly, babysitters will be segmented into “Student Babysitter” and “International Wealthy University Student” which will explore why these segments are in need of a flexible application such as ours. The parents will be segmented into “ Single busy working mothers” and “Full time working wealthy non-divorced mothers”, and these will elaborate on the demand for babysitters through the easy features of Usitter. Nowadays, both parents work as women are beginning to get good positions. 60.5% women are working and full-time working mothers often are employed in managerial levels as full time working fathers. This means they are often wealthy, and their time is dominated by work. A higher percentage of women and men with full time jobs have children younger than 12 than those without children or those in part-time jobs. The percentage of men and women is almost the same. As a result, mothers are often concerned about leaving their young children, and usually hire a nanny. Being able to afford technology, and have a busy schedule means they will always need a babysitter in the most flexible and least time consuming way by using an app like this.
Single busy working mother: Nearly half a million people in the Netherlands are working parents. The government has now decided to encourage working single parents by cutting their child benefits from 8 to 4 options. That will mean single parents will need to start looking for child care services that make up for these lost options, and will have to work longer hours to afford these options that used to be paid for. 85% divorce cases results in the child staying with the mother, so this segment is focused on single working mothers, that don’t have the time and using a simple and quick app will be
The childcare industry has variables including childcare by a family member, a traditional caregiver or a day care center. It depends on a family’s situation as to which one benefits them most. The two types of childcare to be discussed are the traditional caregiver and a day care center. Parents must decide whether they want a one-on-one or a group setting for the care of their children.
Students’ wouldn’t be able to hold down a job is the second reason they shouldn’t dropout of high school. Many employers would like to have someone who has been too high school and that have been educated so they can handle money and add things p...
One of the issues that demonstrated how sexism and heterosexism shape social welfare policy is the plight of single mothers. The well-being of single-parents, especially single mothers has been an important issue for the United States given that at least 50 percent of children who are currently growing up in the country will spend part of or their entire childhood in a single-parent family (Casey & Maldonado, 2012). As compared to other countries, single-parent families in the United States are worst off with high unemployment rates and poverty rates. This issue demonstrates how sexism and heterosexism influence social welfare policy since it has been the basis of establishment of various regulations to address the problem. The issue has been the basis of the implementation of TANF to deal with the high unemployment and poverty rates of single mothers. However, this policy has been ineffective since it makes people become more independent and does not meet the needs of women effectively. Therefore, it continues to be the basis for policy considerations to help single
The history of child care is a universal practice that has been around for centuries that was only at first usually practiced among relatives. However, over the past decades with the increase in women employment, single parent homes, and the economy mothers and families have begun enrolling their children in child care centers regularly. Consequently, childcares became the norm in society and by the 1990’s 6 million infant and toddlers were in regular non parental child care (Phillips & Adams, 2001). Now that a high demand for child care was needed parents were faced with the issue of seeking suitable care facilities that conformed to certain standards, their budget, values, and other factors that were preferred and fit their needs. Since there are so many different child care types, principles, programs, and etc. that parents can choose from it can be difficult to know what to look for and decide what the best fit is for your child. This paper will briefly go over the cost, variety of child care arrangements, childcare regulations, and personnel qualifications among other factors to consider when choosing proper care for your children and their development.
In many circumstances, fathers would welcome the opportunity to play larger roles in their children lives. Today’s society norms show households generally have two incomes. Even with women currently accounting for approximately 57 percent of the labor force, many in society view the role of the father as the stereotypical financial provider and occasional weekend babysitter.
One type of childcare that many are familiar with is non-maternal. “Non-maternal care is defined as the care of a child by someone other than the child’s mother for at least 10 hours a week on a regular basis” (Peng and Robbins, 9). The purpose of all, if not most childcare centers is to provide children with the appropriate care and education that will prepare them for the next level of education. Seeing as “six out of every ten mothers of children under age six are employed” there is definitely a need and possibly a demand for childcare centers (Lynn, 2). There is, however, one big mistake people often make when thinking of childcare. Childcare and daycare, no matter how similar they may seem, are not the same. A daycare is simply there to take care and watch over the child, while childcare centers act more as the school before actual grade school by prepping kids ...
Single parenting numbers increase each year. In America there is almost fourteen million single parents raising about thirty-two million children, twenty six percent are under twenty one years of age. Eighty-two percent of single parents are mothers and about eighteen percent are fathers (“Single Parent Statistics-Average Single Parent Statistics”).There are a lot of stereo types about single parents, most of which are untrue, but some can be true also. Single parenting is becoming more common in this generation, and it’s not just because of one reason. There are many reasons these days that there are single parents.
I find it shocking that one in 18 families, a woman is the only parent in a household. In one out of 4 single-parent families, mothers with pre-school or elementary-age children work outside the home. Here at the Working Mothers Foundation, we reach out, offering assistance for these mothers in a tangible way.
The reduced earnings of women have an impact on 7.4 million households run by single working women. Over two point one million families consisting of working single mothers were considered poor. An added two point four million working single mothers were severely struggling to barely make ends meet. They were falling between 100 and 200 pe...
The babysitter rate of pay varies depending on a few factors. For example, the number of children that will be cared for by the babysitter is one very important factor in determining the acceptable pay rate.
Many parents feel the pressure to provide above and beyond the basic needs of their families. Society puts pressure on parents to provide beautiful homes, regular holidays, and the latest phones and gadgets for their children. Making them feel that if they don’t they are somehow failing as a parent. Young children do not really care about ‘things’, but would much rather have your time, not money. In the long-term, it is far more beneficial for families if the mother can stay home as a full-time
There are over 1 million children in new divorces each year. 49% family households contain children under the age of 18. 27% of family households have children living with only one parent. 9% of all households run by single moms. There are 2.1 million (5% of parent-child families) single fathers raising a child in their own. There are 9 million females. There are an estimated number of 1,075,000 of children involved in divorce. There are 20 million (28%) of children under the age of 18 living with only one parent. There are 200,000 fathers that are raising three or more children by themselves. 1% of children living with a single fathers earning are under 12,500. Those living with their mother’s income are 41% who receive fewer than 12,500. It is apparent that immediate and firm action needs to be taken considering that 45% of all children don’t receive total
In a traditional family, a mother and father live in the same home raising their children together. In the United the States, modern families are deviating from these traditional views. In particular, single parent households are becoming more prevalent. Since the 1970s, the percentage of single parent families has steadily increased. One in three families with children under the age of eighteen consisted of only one parent in 2013. The increasing rate of single parenting raised public concern and is recognized as a social problem. Consequently, sociologists study the rising trend of single parenting and the many social problems that contribute to its growth. The number of single parent families is increasing because of the growing number of
It all started when my mom and Maya's mom (Ms.Pfeiffer) said that "We needed to start babysitting." I told Ms.Pfeiffer "Don't worry I'll babysit Maya for you!" She laughed. Before we knew it the week came and we to start the 1 week camp. We arrived and walked in. The gym was big and lonely because we were every early. Hours passed and it was time to get started. This old Russian women came in, she gave us teddy bears, a manual, and fake baby dolls. (That looked very real) The women told us to be " Very careful, with your baby and treat it like your own!" Moments later Maya popped the head off the fake baby doll, in her hand she was the baby head. Everyone stop and looked at her with their mouths wide open! After that the old lady got started
One common question most working parents must face when returning to work is where they are going to place their children for the day. Parents have a choice between organized daycare, which is a structured building with staff trained to take care of children and often involves little ones sharing an age-specific room with their peers. In-home care on the other hand is simply dropping the child off at someone’s house, whether they are a relative or someone the parent knows of. But which choice is the better option, one may ask? According to research, the benefits of daycare far outweigh those of in-home care for reasons including health, intelligence and even the well being of the parent.
