Parent equality should always be the outcome of any type of ending marriage or relationship. As a couple, separation or divorce ends the adult relationship. The process does not end the parental relationship. Children benefit socially and emotionally with equal access to both parents.

Yet, in the United States, overlooking father’s rights seems natural. Fathers need to receive equal acknowledgment for child rearing responsibilities. The facts surrounding the care of minor children from good fathers are surprising.

Facts Regarding Father’s Rights

In many circumstances, fathers would welcome the opportunity to play larger roles in their children lives. Today’s society norms show households generally have two incomes. The family court system often supports the traditional parenting roles, especially with younger children. Downplaying the importance of children having equal access to both parents is the reason for the recent growing support for father’s rights. Viewing mothers as the nurturing parent and fathers as the breadwinner supports outdated family dynamics.

The court system is not the only entity supporting traditional roles. News reports, social media, and other statistical agencies provide numerous amounts of negative data on the effects of children who grown up without a father in the home. Despite the facts, the same outlets rarely report the impact of a good father has in the life of a child. Even rarer are reports regarding the number of fathers who are the sole provider for the minor children.
