The year is twenty-twenty one the auto pilot plane program has gone commercial. The economy is booming, but only for those who work in the technical fields. Doctors like me are having trouble finding hospitals to work in, because we have been replaced by machines. The only type of doctors that are still hired at a great rate are Gynecologist and even they are slowly being replaced, because an engineer by the name of Jenna Rome has invented a robot that does the job of a Gynecologist. Her belief is that robots are more efficient and that she would rather have a machine staring at her private parts during birth rather than another human being. I’m lost for words as soon as I hear this because I had spent the last year of medical school in becoming …show more content…
a certified Gynecologist, so that I can finally have a stable job. It’s been three months and I’m still unemployed, I have traveled as far as London to look for a job, but with the prospect of this new robot hospitals are not hiring Gynecologist. I was approached today by a man who claimed he was one of the inventors of the auto pilot program.
He thought I was desperate enough to do a heist with him saying we would make an easy five million dollars each. At first I was tempted, but I still hoped I can make money the right way. After weeks of failed interviews I became tempted and I contacted Han or whatever he was called because I highly doubted he would tell me his real name. We had planned for several weeks, Han was a skilled hacker who had great knowledge of the auto pilot planes. He knew its weakness and its …show more content…
capabilities. “The plane is equipped with a weaponry emp, meaning we can not carry electric weapons,” He emphasized. “How do you plan on acquiring a weapon that is not electric, because last I heard all non electric weapons were destroyed by the United Nation to better combat terrorist and criminals?” I asked. “ Let me worry about that,” he replied. “The plane is also designed to avert danger and keep its passengers safe at all cost, so it was designed to use human emotion or any other weakness it can exploit against its assailants,” he said. “Are you telling me that this plane will psychological analyze us and use our weakness against us?” I asked. “Yes, which is why we need to keep little to no contact with each other as well as with the passenger, so that the plane has minimal leverage against us,” he replied. The heist was today. We had easily passed our security checks and we were allowed on board. Our goal was to steal a rare gem that was being carried back to Washington D.C for evaluation. This gem was rumored to be a new power source for that was being tested to fuel the new robots and planes. I wanted to do this heist not because of the money, but also to destroy this stone so that these machines didn’t take over our jobs. I hadn’t told this to Han simply because if he knew my true goal we would be at odds. “Hello ladies and gentlemen this is your Plane speaking. I welcome you aboard one of the first commercial planes of the Auto Pilot Program. Our destination is Washington D.C and this will take us a total of eight hours, so please get comfortable and enjoy yourself,” said The Plane. Everyone at first was uncomfortable with the talking plane, but this uncomfortable turned into jokes of how the talking plane was more respectful than human pilots. Han began his hack on the plane, and I began searching for the security guards aboard the plane.
Luckily for us there was only one security guard that looked inexperienced. As soon as Han gave the thumbs up I slowly put my mask on. Han slowly snuck into the plane's cockpit after I knocked the young security guard out. Han inserted his hack and the plane went into passenger safe mode, meaning it couldn’t do anything reckless such as calling aviation for help, because this would endanger the passengers. “Ladies and gentlemen this is your hijacker speaking, and If you all want to get home safe you must do as I say,” he shouted. There was a mass panic at first but after I knocked couple of passenger out with the planes sleeping gas, all the other passengers became silent. After several hours we had no luck in finding the gem. Han became furious and threatened to kill a passenger every half hour the gem is not found. “Ladies and gentlemen my top priority is to keep you safe, so please if you have this gem give it up,” said The Plane. Han and I began to argue about what lines we weren’t going to cross. He tried to ensure me that no one would get hurt, but I highly doubted this. “I know you don’t want to do this Mr. J,” pleaded The Plane. “You don’t even know the reason I’m doing this,” I whispered. “Is your reason worth ruining your life,” replied The
Plane. “Shut it, Han warned me that you would try to guilt me, your a plane, a machine, you can’t even begin to imagine human emotions,” I shouted. “I’m not designed to understand human emotion, I’m designed to reveal a person's deepest thoughts, and I know deep down you just want to live an honest life,” pleaded The Plane. “Han, Shut this plane up please,” I yelled. “Is it criticizing you,” He joked. “No, I’m not criticizing him, I was just asking him why he would want to betray his partner,” said The Plane. “Wait, you want to betray me J?” asked Han “No, Han you’re the one who warned us that this plane was designed to defeat it’s assailants no matter what,” I replied. “Yes and no, Han knows I can only tell the truth as well,” said The Plane. “J, hand me the gem,” ordered Han. “I can’t,” I replied. “J, give me the gem now or I will put you down,” said Han angrily. I knew Han was serious, but something in me wouldn’t give that gem up, then the plane began saying something as Han was about to pull the trigger, “There can be no happiness if the things we believe in are different from the things we do,” Freya Starks.
Shortly after takeoff D.B. Cooper handed Flo Schaffner, a flight attendant with less than 2 years of flying experience, a note. Schaffner immediately stuffed the note in the pocket of her uniform incorrectly assuming it was a come-on from Cooper a room number to his Seattle hotel or his telephone number. Noticing this Cooper later told her, “You’d better read that. I have a bomb” Cooper then gestured toward the briefcase he was carrying on his lap. Schaffner soon share the note with fellow flight attendant Tina Mucklow. The pair showed the note to the cockpit Capt. William Scott, First Officer Bob Rataczak, and Flight Engineer H.E. Anderson. Captain...
“No, I 'm going to lunch. I 'll save you a seat,” she responded as we parted ways. As I turned the corner going into the lobby, people were everywhere, handing out free items like pencils, key chains and coozies. This is awesome, I thought. I first stop at a sharply dressed man standing next to a black cloth Table with a poster reading Bank of America. I listen as he begins speaking to me and some other students. “Working in the banking industry is all about math and dealing with people. If you have those skills, this brochure will interest you” the man says. On that note, I continue to the next table. “Not interested... skip, eh?” I think to myself. Across the room was a woman wearing a candy covered top with red scrub pants. I walk towards her table that reads WakeMed Trauma Center. The women immediately greets me. “Hi darling! My name is Jenny. I am a trauma care nurse over in Cary. I see very cruel things and it can be traumatizing,” she rambled on. “Have you ever thought about a career In the medical field?” Jenny asked me. “I 'd sure like to look into it,” I responded. She begins again, saying “I started out as a nurse and it is the most rewarding job, if you enjoy helping people I’d consider looking more into it.” While I 'm exploring the rest of the career fair talking about the medical field with Jenny has me interested to find out which medical
For instance, the multiple calls made to family members as well as 911 from the frantic passengers. Mark Bingham for instance called 911, as well as his mom telling her he loved her and that the plane was being hijacked. Another man called 911 screaming that they were being hijacked and that he heard some sort of explosion and saw white smoke coming from the plane. Then there was Tom Burnett, who called his wife saying the hijackers had already stabbed to death one passenger and that he intended to do something about it. A Jeremy Glick called his relatives saying the same, that he and some other passengers were intending to fight the hijackers. These calls brought up the thought that perhaps some passengers on board had fought the hijackers, keeping them from controlling the plane, and sending it crashing to the ground.
Since this country was founded, we have had a set of unalienable rights that our constitution guarantees us to as Americans. One of the most important rights that is mentioned in our constitution is the right to free speech. “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the
In an attempt to explain how to do a task, she says, “press my fingers,” (Piercy 11) as if her fingers are equipment used to process credit and debit. By saying, “from my mouth issue cancelled reams,” (Piercy 16) she tells us how her attempts to speak to her supervisor are ignored. The words that want to flow from her mouth seem worthless to her because this is how her boss sees her. Seeing that her words mean nothing, the speaker debates the existence of a more important right: the right to bear children. She states “I am about to be delivered of a baby Xerox machine,” (Piercy 17-20) and we are shown childbirth through the eyes of a machine, rather than a human. Not only is the role of a secretary transforming the speaker physically, but she is also being conformed mentally.
Finally, to my delight, the day had come when I would be flying my maiden flight for British Airways. This was the new & most sophisticated airline, the Boeing 777-300ER from London to New York. The journey would usually take 7 hours but the crew has to report for the flight preparation 2 hours prior to the flight. After all the final checks with the ground crew, we gave the green signal to invite the passengers on-board. Once we had all the passengers and their luggage loaded, we taxied to the runway. The weather was miserable in London this morning and there was an excessive amount of water on the runway. Once we a...
I overcame two major barriers as I worked toward my goal, my father’s opinion about appropriate careers for women and my lack of English. I grew up in a village where the nearest doctor was three hours away. When I was eight years old, I was surprised by my aunt’s pregnancy and intrigued to learn more about pregnancy and fetal development.
This objectification causes physicians to lose sight of individuals’ dignity and value, such as when Jason reduces Vivian to nothing but “research” in his mind (Edson 82). In the end, he is so obsessed with following protocol that the lights go out and he totally misses the “beautiful” moment when Vivian slips into eternity (Edson 85). Margaret Edson masterfully weaves into the action of a deep analysis of the modern medical system, displaying its successes and failures. She points out healthcare’s tendency to dehumanize people due to its impersonal and research-oriented style. Along with that, Susie stands out as an example to the audience of how to treat patients created in the image of God.
“I told you, I did nothing.” the man said with gritted teeth. He was starting to get mad, so I called in a security guard to protect me in case he tried to
Luckily I was chosen for TSA Precheck and all I had to do was pass through the metal detector. After my mom and brothers passed through we went on our way to find the gate. We found it fairly quickly and looked to settle down somewhere, however the gate was packed tighter than a sardine can so we struggled to find seats near each other. There was plenty of time to kill and at this time Pokemon go was in it’s early and popular days. I whipped out my phone and spent my time seeing if there were any pokemon worth catching or if there was a low level gym I could fight. I wasn’t particularly ecstatic about the trip, but my younger brother had been bouncing off the walls. It seemed as if he droned on for years about his excitement and spent much of his time questioning my mom on what it was like over there. Time flew by while we waited to board the plane and eventually they called our boarding group. I had been
The ability of the military to censor what the media puts out to the public is greatly needed in the Unites States. A lot of times the media grabs hold of information and makes a huge deal out of it, even if it’s the simplest thing. And it may not all be true. Every news channel wants to cover the “big story,” and they’re going to do whatever it takes to make that happen. Whether it’s by changing or adding false information, or attempting the make a bigger deal out of the story to draw more attention and viewers. As Marcus Luttrell says in his book, Lone Survivor, “…the media thinks it's absolutely fine to take a wild guess at the truth and then tell a couple of million people it's cast-iron fact” (331). People will most likely believe it and start talking about it more. A lot of times, when it comes to military events or secrets that get out, military lives can be put in danger, as well as our own. Not everything needs to be censored, just the things that happen with our military that could be dangerous to us. Without censorship, enemy spies or terrorists can grab hold of some of the information and use it against us, the public won’t have mixed emotions on whether or not to support the military at the time, and lives will be saved every day when we keep our military secrets contained.

In this case, US Airways flight 1549 has become a prime example of a miraculous outcome of an aviation incident. For this flight both of the pilots were in good physical condition, without any external stimuli or lack of sleep taking a toll on them. This allowed them to be fully alert to perform their flying obligations. In addition to having adequate physical capabilities, these pilots were well trained in their art form, and were able to do the single most important aspect when it comes to operating an aircraft: actually flying the airplane. Once the bird strike occurred, they were able to assess the situation and remain calm while working through possible solutions. Thanks to the frequent training in accident recovery, the First Officer was able to flip straight to the engine failure checklist, which the pilots then put into action. While this was crucial, the Captain was knowledgeable and experienced enough to take the liberty of skipping over steps on the checklist which ended up making a significant difference in the end result. Amongst the various other components that went into making this flight a successful recovery, communication was probably one of the most largely influencing factors. Throughout the entire situation the two pilots had professional communication between each other and the rest of the
