Private Jet Trip Waking up with a flush of air from an opening door, my brother barged hastily into my bedroom with a phone to his ear. He said, “dad wants to talk to you” Still comprehending what exactly was going on I looked at my alarm clock which reads eight in the morning. My brother held the phone outwards towards me, so I grasped it from him and held it to my ear. My dad said, “do you want to get the chance to ride in a private jet down to Brownsville (Texas).” I told him, “well, doesn't mom want to go?” He replied, “she needs to tend the baby and she (the baby) is too young to travel.” I said, “okay.” He said, “ alright, make sure you help mom get the boys out the door.” I had no idea …show more content…
about the trip until this morning. After that I wondered, “how are you suppose to be ready for something like this?' If we knew about the trip at least a few days before, we could have prepared to improve our presentation. Furthermore we didn't have enough money to appear equally classed in front of business partners, but it would help our situation. I walked over to my closet, found a decent pair of jeans and a new t-shirt hoping that it would look reasonable. Just after fixing myself up for the day I realized it was Thursday. Meaning that me and my brothers will have to practice piano lessons at the same time we need to pack. A sense of desperation and stress hit me like a bombshell. Over a two hour period between ten and twelve, me and my three brothers needed to practice piano an half hour each. Nevertheless we also have to leave from twelve to make the hour and twenty minutes drive to make the one thirty flight. To simplify things we have to leave home at the same time as piano practice ends. As I was sorting my clothes my mother asked, “go find some suitcases.” I grabbed a couple and brought them to my mother. They were red and purple children sized suitcases. We have used them for several years, so they were a little run down. I placed them next to her wondering if they were going to be big enough for us. But trusting my mother's judgment I knew we shouldn't have a problem. I didn't know if I were dressed in the right clothes so I asked her, “are these clothes okay for the trip?” Replying back, she said, “you guys will be alright, your just kids.” She folded and packed a few more items then asked us, “make sure you boys sit quiet and be polite.” Obviously any mother would worry how her kids will behave when she is not present with them. Behaving poorly would look bad in front of business partners, but I didn't worry because me and my brothers do well around other people. Once the piano teacher arrived at our house time seemed to whiz by. My mother made sure we were properly dressed and hair combed neatly. After finishing piano lessons we immediately hurried out the door into the car. The beginning the car ride felt like any normal trip down to Salt Lake City. She new the directions most of the way but after a certain point she would need help. As we were driving on the freeway I spotted the airport and above it towards the south there were commercial jets in the sky coming in single file. I found it fascinating because it shows just how coordinated airports and airlines need to achieve success. After driving off the freeway and couple of turns later we drove down a straight road that ran along side the flight deck towards a building. Trees with grass were evenly space between the road and the flight deck. Next to the building stood an access gate and a little building on the other which contained the operating controls. My mother pulled the car in front of the gate and rolled down the car window to talk to a man whom was operating it. Suddenly the gate opened upwards letting us in. My mom pulled the car parallel to the jet allowing me to quickly exit the car and grab our stuff in the trunk. Immediately that same man who opened the gate followed me to the back.
I didn't know what he was doing but soon I realized he was helping us. After the man grabbed the baggage I walked towards the entrance of the jet. As I was climbing in I looked over and the pilot now holding the suitcases asked my mom, “is this all they will need for the trip?” It was a little embarrassing but I decided not to ponder it too much. The pilot set them in small storage compartment near the rear tale rotor and closed it. As I climbed in I saw my aunt and five of her children waiting for us. We manage to drive here just in the nick of time so they shouldn't have been waiting too long. But what struck me the most was the interior of the plane. The leather seats and carpet were a light tan color and dark brown polished wood trimmed around the seating. Handles for seating adjustments seat belts and nozzles that control air quality were all gold highlighted. There were two small TV screens on both ends of the room presenting flight information and map location. Two seats sat parallel to the plane in the back and four seats stood perpendicular with a table. There could have been a tenth seat just off the side of the bathroom but there was a
door designated for an emergency escape route. The Flight attendant came out with some movies and card games. I wasn't interested in TV or games because this experience was enough entertainment for me. None of us talked much at first because it was such a new environment also I wanted to act normal. After a few minutes of waiting, the engines fired with a roar. The pilot maneuvered the plane into position to take off. Looking down the runway the engines suddenly grew louder and a few seconds later the jet surged forward. I watch the front TV screen which read the temperature, speed and elevation. Once we hit around 170 mph the plane took flight. Just after the jet raised above the ground I felt a little upward sensation followed by a little sway from side to side but stabilized as we got faster. Looking over the city there were so much to look at; houses, streets, parks, cars, and of course downtown Salt Lake City with the tall sky scrapers and business centers. We also spotted the Kenacott Copper mine. One of the largest surface pit mines in the world. We had a wonderful view of it. It looked like a huge asteroid impact blew a chunk of the mountain into a crater. Everyone else was staring out the window. After a few minutes as the plane reached above the clouds there wasn't much to see anymore. The plane was very relaxing. Much better than commercial flying. We were all enjoying ourselves when the flight attendant brought cookies and soda. I took a couple of cookies and a cup of soda. After my snack I asked for some water. She gave me a water bottle with napkin. The water bottle was rectangular with a concave bottleneck. The bottle I found it interesting because it tasted like spring water but I had a hard time believing it. Suddenly one of my cousins cried out, “Look at that!” My brothers and cousins were all grouped around the table so I moved towards the front of the plane to get better look. It was one of those right place at the right time moments. I saw a thunderstorm with a river system below it. We are out in the middle of the desert. So I found it somewhat odd there would be large river. The scene was perfect. Like a nature documentary about the American landscape. The thunderstorm was obviously poring rain but I didn't see any lighting. I wanted to get a camera and take a picture but I didn't have one. I stared at the scenery as long as I could. But wasn't long before clouds blocked our few. I looked at the map on the front TV screen showing that we were over the northwest corner of New Mexico. I didn't know what to do, so I decided to check out the bathroom. The bathroom was very small. Just enough room for the toilet and cabinets above of the sink. The appearance was luxurious. The toilet The sink handles were chrome polished with gold highlights. The counter top was dark marble polished surface. The mirror had decorated trim. With Just then we were asked to take our seats and buckle up because we going to land soon. I sat down on one of the front seats and buckled myself. The seats were soft and I quickly figured out that there we plenty of seating adjustments. One of the buttons slid the seat around the floor on the platform it was mounted on. Me and my cousin spent a few minutes messing around sliding the seat in a manner of all directions. Suddenly I noticed somewhat of a drop in my stomach. I looked at the window and saw just clouds. We were right at the cloud line but then quickly cleared out as we descended. After the ground was visible I saw light tan colored dirt and a random placement of plants cluttered and spaced out hear there. Five minutes later the dirt and plants turned immediately to asphalt. We landed softly and slowed to a standstill. We all stood up and the flight attendant opened the stair hatch. The passengers lined up in single file and trotted our way out. The flight attendant mention that the hand rails where wet. I grabbed a side and slid my hand down the cool moist rail. Being used the dry Utah weather the air was hot and surprisingly humid even though the scenery was desert like. We were an hours drive from the ocean so it made sense why it was humid. About a hundred feet away my dad and a few of his business partners where waiting for us to meet them. I didn't know what we were going to do next but I'm sure that it is going to be interesting.
I heard Two-Bit talking in a low voice on the phone, but I tried to tune him out. I closed my eyes, trying to drown out some of the pain. I must have fallen asleep because all of a sudden I felt someone grab my hand.
I kept my cool because I knew that the first-class passengers like us were always helped first. After finding two life belts, we were herded along with many others up to the deck.
“Boys! Come here please.” My younger brothers, Xavier and Dominic, came running out and into the living room. Once everyone was together I asked my mom what was going on.
I called my husband and told him that I am coming back and reuniting with the family. There was a knock and it was Auto, Jack, and Jenny. My mind reeled back onto Jack alias David tattoos. According to his tattoos one of them says Sandy with knife going through. So, I guess next in the plane was ME!
Joe, a senior that had decided to go on the trip with us, called from in front of me and said that he had found both of our seats. I followed the sound of his voice through all of the people and luggage, until I was in the back of the plane.
I didn't answer my phone, but that just made it ring more. So, after awhile of it continuously ringing, I pulled my purple cell phone from my jeaned pocket. Checking the screen, I noticed that the person that kept calling was none other than, my mom. Pressing the talk button, I answered the phone.
My brothers followed me in single file through a different door on the other side of the building. It lead under an overhang where two vehicles stood parked. The trunk of an SUV sat open with baggage neatly packed inside. Everyone climbed into the vehicles and quickly drove off. I didn't understand where our next destination but I sat quietly and patiently until we stopped. Then I realized we were just checking in to a hotel. We grabbed our suitcases and walked in to receive rooms for everyone. After that we split up into 5 rooms, my father and I sharing one. As I studied the building I notice that it was probably built in the 50s because it looked like a nursing home for old people. The inside was nowhere near rundown as it was neat, clean, and well taken car of but it did have that old fashion feel to the place. Inside our room was nice, a pair of french doors placed on the other side
I remember when we used to carry our luggage out on the tarmac and hand it to the man loading the luggage. It was like getting on a Greyhound bus back then. Now we are subjected to verifying our identification and boarding passes ...
The house phone started to ring. “We have a house phone?” I questioned myself rubbing my eyes giving off a weary sigh. When did I fall asleep? I headed downstairs and it stopped. Again it rang and I guessed it was on the bottom shelf hence lack of usage. Pulling off the dusty cloth I grasped the telephone and answered.
Crazy Haley steps in, that’s the other half of my brain that spits out outrageous ideas, and my options became endless. I thought to myself, an airplane could literally take us anywhere… right? That sudden dream soon became a reality when I pulled out my
It was the phone. The phone sang its tone throughout the house. No one reacted but my mother. Nothing was abnormal. I might have heard my mother whisper
When I was seven years old I went on my very first holiday abroad, to
“Flaca, smile!” My dad was trying to take a selfie of the two of us with the amazing view. The picture captured my fear since I was still scared of the “what if.”
Throughout someone’s life they will go to many places with their family, friends, another relatives. I have been on a few vacations that have made a lasting impact on my life. But one of the most memorable vacations I have experienced was with my cousins. I went to goa beach. Most of you probably don’t know about that beach but it is a very famous one in south India. I enjoyed myself to the fullest. The beach environment was enlightening. I would not have wanted to take this trip with anyone other than my cousins. We had a great time on the ocean sands and swimming in the ocean everyday made this vacation unforgettable.
4:30 a.m. the phone buzzes on the corner of my bed. Squinting at the color I.D. it was my sister desperately telling me to wake up. I hung up and immediately fell back asleep, but the phone rang again immediately; once again, it was my sister calling. This time she was stricter, telling me she was in the hospital. I quickly gathered my things, and within the next 10 minutes, I was on my way.
