If you are able to get out of your car, check on the other driver and any passengers to see if anyone needs medical attention. Call for an ambulance if someone is not able to move or is unconscious and don’t move anyone unless there is some compelling reason to get them out of harm’s way and out of the vehicle. If you sustained an injury, get medical care immediately. Sometimes, injury symptoms such as pain, numbness, and dizziness, can arise a few days after an accident. Get the other driver’s, or drivers’, name, address, telephone numbers, license number, insurance information, vehicle plate number, and vehicle make, model, and year. Also get the names and contact information from any passengers and any witnesses. When talking with anyone involved in the accident, never admit being at fault because it may not be easy to determine who was at fault. Saying you’re sorry for an accident, even if you’re not at fault, may be interpreted as admitting liability for the incident. Ask the police for the number on the police report to be filed and get the name and badge number of all the police at the scene. The police report will state who was at fault and if any citations were
Car insurance is essentially vital and the repercussions of not getting car insurance become evident when you get into a car accident. If you have car insurance (comprehensive car insurance, third party, fire and theft insurance, or third party only insurance), your insurance will automatically cover any damage costs to the other person’s vehicle when you are
There is knocking at a door late at night, and there a policeman standing at the door with information that a family member was in an accident that involved a drunk driver. This is one of those things people hear and believe that it will not happen, but it happens every day. Every 40 minutes, someone in the U.S. is killed by a drunk driver and in 2008, in Montana, 40 percent of all traffic fatalities involved DUIs (“Drunk Driving” 1). Drunk Driving affects everyone and people in Montana should look at what other states do to find ways to make the laws tougher and more enforced.

There are a number of factors that contribute to these types of collisions, however, new and evolving laws can account for a large portion of successful preventable measures. After the incident, I began doing some research on teenage car accidents at the advice of the officer who had responded to the scene. What I read about and learned was frightening. In 2008 over three thousand teen deaths occurred, either as a passenger or driver in a ...
According to Levinthal (2011), alcohol is called the hidden drug because an alcoholic does not need to find a drug dealer on the street; instead it is legally available and has no criminal sanctions attached to its use; alcoholism is therefore easily hidden from friends and family. Unfortunately, drunk driving is the leading cause of deaths on roadways, and in addition causes hundreds of boating accidents as well. Fortunately, with the legal drinking age set at twenty one and the reduction in the BAC level of intoxication set to 0.08, there have been positive results in minimizing alcohol related deaths annually.
Automobile accidents are the leading cause of deaths in America. Although new safety technologies are being developed everyday that will continue to help bring the death rate down, learning to become a defensive driver will increase your likelihood of reaching your destination safe and unharmed. The drivers that cause accidents are not defensive drivers.
There are many social problems that exist in the world today, which includes but do not limits to self-identity and racism. However, they somehow go unnoticed because at times people conform to what society thinks is the way to live. In my opinion, people believe they should act or feel a certain way because of what is broadcast on television, featured in magazines, and even brought into the limelight by celebrities. After viewing the movie Crash, in my opinion, the movie targets on going social problems that are constantly being swept under the rug to this present day. I deem Crash a race movie because it forces the audience to question their own moral values.
The safety procedures that I currently follow while driving include following the traffic rules, driving within the legal speed limit, wearing my seat belt, and driving defensively. The two things I never do while driving is text or drink and drive. If everyone followed these rules, there would be fewer accidents. I have never gotten into a car accident, and it is important to me that I continue my good driving record. I always make sure that I am aware of my surroundings, and if I am lost I pull over to look up directions on my phone.
Disappointment, disbelief and fear filled my mind as I lye on my side, sandwiched between the cold, soft dirt and the hot, slick metal of the car. The weight of the car pressed down on the lower half of my body with monster force. It did not hurt, my body was numb. All I could feel was the car hood's mass stamping my body father and farther into the ground. My lungs felt pinched shut and air would neither enter nor escape them. My mind was buzzing. What had just happened? In the distance, on that cursed road, I saw cars driving by completely unaware of what happened, how I felt. I tried to yell but my voice was unheard. All I could do was wait. Wait for someone to help me or wait to die.

Reckless driving is extremely dangerous and is considered to be anyone who is driving with carelessness and/or who has no regard for the safety of others on the road. Reckless driving is considered to be a misdemeanor. A misdemeanor is a criminal act that is less severe then receiving a felony. Your punishments are also not as severe as penalties. Penalties for reckless driving include fines of up to $1,000, jail time, getting your parole revoked, two points on your driving record, insurance rates to go up, insurance can be cancelled and/or license suspension. Reckless driving includes speeding, not using signals, not using your headlights, disregarding traffic signs and signals, distracted driving, drag racing, and using a cell/smartphone while driving. In some cases a DUI can be deemed a “dry reckless”, which means the person was driving with disregard for others on the road. This charge is less serious then a DUI charge. If you have been pulled over for DUI and believe that it could be reduced to a “dry reckless” you should contact an attorney right away. Drag racing or a speed co...
