Artist’s Statement Artifact Description My group had Proposition 55 and we were against it. Which meant that the no vote opposed extending the personal income tax to the people making over $250,000 annually. This Proposition will expire again in 2019 if passed. My group was Sabina, Figgy, and me. Without them this video would not have been successful. We each had a role, Sabina was the Editor, she put together most of our video and we contributed our ideas. Figgy was the Recorder since we had to interview her. I was the facilitator, I kept the group on track although we did not really get distracted. This artifact was not like the usual ones where we need to write an essay or do a complicated math equation. We had to create a advertisement video on a proposition. It could have only been 30 seconds long so that is why it was so complicated. This project convinced my audience because we got good evidence to back it up. At first we couldn’t think of any ideas. As soon as we thought of Donald Trump many good examples came to our heads since he is a person who had not paid taxes in over 18 years. Our original plan for this video was to appeal to the audience’s emotion We knew that we needed to include Donald Trump. We did a lot of research on our own but …show more content…
Ms. Michaela introduced to me the strongest argument that we had which was loopholes. I did not now that loopholes existed or even what they were. We had to make a few corrections to the script but besides that there was not a big change.
We all did our roles correctly. Our only issue was that Figgy got suspended for an entire week so it was only me and Sabina that week. The good thing was that it was when we had just started the project so it was not as intense as the last few weeks. Sabina did most of the editing. Figgy and I looked for helpful videos and recorded the interview. Then Figgy sent it to Sabina to upload it onto our video. Little by little a lot of changes started to get done to it because we had a lot of logos but needed to add pathos and ethos. The fact that the video had to be in between 30 and 35 seconds was hard for us but we made it
work. If we could do this assignment over again I would change the video to the yes side. It is going to be interesting to see it what the yes side thinks. Before I started doing this video my argument fell more towards the yes side. With using the evidence that we had I started convincing myself that it was the correct side. I can personally improve on editing better because I thought and still think that using Premiere is really hard. On November 7th when we had a showcase on the videos and it went pretty good. The audience reaction was exactly what we expected. They agreed with our opinions and believed that prop 55 should be passed. Although my video was for the No side I strongly believed that Prop. 55 should get passed because a higher tax on rich people will benefit our communities. I learned that it is really hard to come up with Ad campaign signs. I learned about voting and how the elections work. I knew some things about it but not everything like I do now. It was a very unique experience since our tools to make the video were different. I also got to see how the advertisements trick people into voting on the wrong side, by teaching them wrong information.
Surprisingly, fifty years later, artist John Sloan happen to meet all the qualifications Baudelaire has designed for Monsieur G— making urban life observations and drawing from memory. Sloan adopts and employs Baudelaire’s idea of urban watching and further expands it for an American audience. Born and raised in Philadelphia, John Sloan first begun his art career as a newspaper illustrator. After years of working, he developed his own artistic style and started making paintings and etchings. When he moved from Philadelphia to New York, he has found that city life scenes of great interest that he then started observing and making etchings for scenes of modern life. He was well-known and celebrated as the founder of the Ashcan School and was most celebrated for this urban genre scenes. (Lobel, Chapter1)
Description: Students develop skills to workout solutions in a group to an imaginary or a real life business problem and develop a presentation project collating all these solutions. The media selected for the project would be on the basis of consensus by different groups. The final presentation using the selected media should show how...
The Language of Art by Ann Pelo describes the inquiry-based studio practices in early childhood settings. When I started to read chapter six I traced a lot of words ,as going through the few pages I came across this word called “children’s pursuits” at the very beginning of the first question of how do we grow a culture of inquiry (Pelo,2007,p.109) . I choose this word because it is challenging for me during my first practicum placement, illustrates the heart of this chapter and guides me as an Educator to facilitate my learning for future preparation. It literally impacts our learning and pedagogical styles when we recreate art activities for children.
I never made presentation in front of “foreigners” in English before, so I was very nervous, however, the feedbacks from professor and other student were very important. I used the form, short story, but after the presentation, professor told me that I cannot use short story as form and some students suggested me to use an advertisement to convey my message. My project’s target was also kind of ambiguous. I did not specify the audience, actually I did not come up the audience of my project, but when I finished the presentation I realize who my audience is. In the end I used news report as my form and made university students as my
Examining the formal qualities of Homer Watson’s painting Horse and Rider In A Landscape was quite interesting. I chose to analyze this piece as apposed to the others because it was the piece I liked the least, therefore making me analyze it more closely and discover other aspects of the work, besides aesthetics.
If I could tell the story in words, I wouldn't need to lug around a camera. ~Lewis Hine
The first artwork I chose for the formal analysis project is The Tiger by Ito Jakuchù originally painted in 1755. This painting is of a tiger licking its paw in the grass underneath a tree branch. There seems to be two diagonal planes as the tiger is leaning forward and sitting erect. There is a horizontal plane from what appear to be branches above the tiger. The painting has asymmetrical balance as the elements are equally distributed to balance the top and the bottom of the space. The artwork demonstrates several types of line. There are curved lines used in the tiger’s stripes. There are also diagonal, vertical and horizontal lines used in the background for the grass and the overhanging tree branch. The curved and wavy lines used in the tiger’s body, for example in the shoulder muscles, imply movement in addition to the curve in the tiger’s tail. The color scheme used in this painting seems to be complementary to one another as the artist used orange and brown tones with blue and red-orange accents for the tiger’s eyes and tongue. Black is used throughout the p...
The first painting analyzed was North Country Idyll by Arthur Bowen Davis. The focal point was the white naked woman. The white was used to bring her out and focus on the four actual colored males surrounding her. The woman appears to be blowing a kiss. There is use of stumato along with atmospheric perspective. There is excellent use of color for the setting. It is almost a life like painting. This painting has smooth brush strokes. The sailing ship is the focal point because of the bright blue with extravagant large sails. The painting is a dry textured flat paint. The painting is evenly balanced. When I look at this painting, it reminds me of settlers coming to a new world that is be founded by its beauty. It seems as if they swam from the ship.
Though most works of art have some underlying, deeper meaning attached to them, our first impression of their significance comes through our initial visual interpretation. When we first view a painting or a statue or other piece of art, we notice first the visual details – its size, its medium, its color, and its condition, for example – before we begin to ponder its greater significance. Indeed, these visual clues are just as important as any other interpretation or meaning of a work, for they allow us to understand just what that deeper meaning is. The expression on a statue’s face tells us the emotion and message that the artist is trying to convey. Its color, too, can provide clues: darker or lighter colors can play a role in how we judge a piece of art. The type of lines used in a piece can send different messages. A sculpture, for example, may have been carved with hard, rough lines or it may have been carved with smoother, more flowing lines that portray a kind of gentleness.
The sound of the speech, along with the music and voice overs, proved to make a powerful statement. To illustrate, the tone of the music as well as the simple, repeated phrase “Yes We Can”, perfectly sums up the overall message of this video; Hope. This message of hope rallies listeners to believe in themselves as well as Obama, and that anything is possible with enough will and determination. This play on listeners emotions, heavily contributes to Obama’s speech, and greatly contributes to the power of his
We came up with the idea of having the interviewer, interview Peyton Randolph, president of the continental congress. We also thought of interviewing someone on how they feel about the intolerable acts, we thought of the protester when Jose didn’t really want a big part in the video. The storyboard took up about 7 frames and it was mainly small stick drawing with a one sentence description at the bottom. The first scene on the storyboard was the newscaster sitting at a table explaining the video, and the interviews. The next one was a drawing of Peyton Randolph getting questioned, and a question that we might ask.(“Do you like the title?”) The next two were a shot of Annabella sitting in a chair, and the second one of the two had the actual interview. The fifth panel had the part where Jose interrupts the interview. The last two were little snapshots of how Jose would interrupt the
...r any individual off of one story that is portrayed in any type of media, I have learned to ignore it. This project not only opened my mind to how deceiving the media is but also how to work in a group. Throughout this project I learned that time management is everything and also how to create a presentation with so many opinions.
I am a Game Designer and discovering the routes of the game as well as making games is not only my passion but, I consider this Art form as part of my soul and we all know we cannot part from our soul right. For example Wil Wheaton said “I love video games because I have the same experience that I have when I watch a movie that I love or read a book that captures my imagination but, I’m an active participant instead of a passive observer, I will prefer to physically feel it rather than just enjoy it from a distance”. Every part and stages of game development engulf me all the time and pushes
I have also learned about different types of audiences and speeches including persuasive, informative, entertaining and delivering special occasion speeches. It came to my attention that whenever I was making these presentations or speeches, I needed to do so with confidence, consistence and practice before the actual presentation and completely eliminate the element of panic. It was also clear that capturing the attention of the audience and engaging them in the whole process, it was necessary to have a very strong introduction and also try and use visuals to deliver the message. It was therefore vital to respect each person’s diversity and cultural values (Lucas, 2011).
Donald Trump is very effective in the article because of his easy to understand language, tone, use of parallelism, and style. As a politician running for office, he has to make sure the terms he uses can be understood by the audience without a fail. If he throws in an professional word, the audience could get caught on its definition rather than the content of his speech. Throughout the whole article, there is not one word or phrase that would require prior knowledge to comprehend. Even if the content is clear, a politician must speak the words appropriately to be taken seriously by the audience. If Trump were to be comedic about the severity of guns, the public would disapprove of him and his ratings would decline. Donald Trump’s tone is serious, caring, and a mixture between angry and passionate. He has to be serious about guns, since they are a deadly weapon. In addition, there have been numerous violent school shootings and riots that have occurred recently making the subject grimmer. He adds in a sense of compassion when he brings up the idea of fixing the mental
