The arrow went through the through the target like a hot knife through butter. my first time shooting a bow, I was shaking, I was so nervous, then Chiron told me to fall to my instincts so I took a deep breath, closed my eyes, and shot the bow. My eyes open to see the arrow in the center of the target, my partner says “Beginner’s luck.” So I shoot again and I hit the target so vigorously it went through the target. Artemis is my mother because I have incredible skills with a bow and arrow, I can influence animals, and I am resourceful in the wilderness.

One subject that the bible covers, is that the Devil is real and really clever, and is able to enter a normal person's body and turn them into a witch. There are three interconnected causes that might have caused the drama, and panic that was the Salem witch trial hysteria, which are: age, gender, and marital status, lying girls and they’re folk tales they made up, and a divided town.

I have recently read a book, Artemis Fowl, by Eion Colfer that I want to share with your book club. Artemis Fowl is a book that transports you to a whole new world, a world filled with fantasy and excitement. This book was published in Ireland by The Viking Press on April 26, 2001. This book’s main character is the 12 year old child genius, Artemis Fowl II, Artemis is very observant as it is made clear in the first chapter as he recognizes that a man is lying through his first meeting, in which his client comes to meet him in a waiter disguise but this cannot fool Artemis since it was quite clear to him that a waiter doesn’t have polished nails. Artemis caught his lie almost immediately, this client had made a deal with him to show him a location
As flawed people, achieving perfection is an impossible task. Yet, despite this inevitability, individuals strive for perfection only to reveal and witness imperfections. The Puritan lifestyle attempted to achieve this unattainable mission by setting strict morals upon the people of Salem, Massachusetts, however they struggled to do so. Salem faced a major change as a result of the Puritan ambition. Because of their thought on the ideal community as a straitlaced society, those who portrayed an imperfect model were to be isolated. Suspicion flooded the holy Puritan town, and led to accusations of innocent people. After a close analysis, it may be relevant to look at the Puritan belief system as a possible catalyst for the events that occurred during the Salem witch trials.
In Rosalyn Schanzerś “Witches! The Absolutely True Tale of Disaster in Salem”, a Puritan religion filled Salem takes the Bible literally. The town starts to find witches which causes hysteria to spread across town causing people to accuse friends of witchcraft. Communism’s Red Scare, internment camps, and the Holocaust are just like these witch hunts because they all caused histeria and actions by people that should not have been taken.

First he goes to China so a sprite will give him a book that is like a bible for fairies. Second because the book is written in fairy language, so Artemis and Butler his body guard/butler have to decode the book. Once they have decoded the book they set out on a hunt for an elf that has to do a ritual that has to do with the elf placing an acorn in the earth. Meanwhile Holly is responding to a troll that has gone above ground. She goes and fights the troll. Root notices that Holly is not shielded by her magic, so he gets suspicious, and discovers that she hasn’t done the ritual in four years. Root orders Holly to do the ritual right away. When Holly is about to finish the ritual. When all of a sudden Artemis and Butler ambush Holly. Butler shoots a dart meant for hunting elephants.

In the early Christian centuries, the church was relatively tolerant of magical practices. Those who were proved to have engaged in witchcraft were required only to do penance. But in the late Middle Ages (13th century to 14th century) opposition to alleged witchcraft hardened as a result of the growing belief that all magic and miracles that did not come unambiguously from God came from the Devil and were therefore manifestations of evil. Many of the American colonists brought with them from Europe a belief in witches and the devil. During the seventeenth century, people were executed for being witches and follower of Satan. Most of these executions were performed in Salem, Massachusetts in 1692. Mostly all of the accused were women, which makes some modern historians believe that the charges of witchcraft were a way of controlling the women who threatened the power of the men. During the witchcraft trials, hundreds of arrests were made, and some were even put to death on Gallow’s Hill (Karlsen 145). In 1698, the villagers of Salem won the right to establish their own Church. They chose the Reverend Samuel Parris as their minister. Many of the villagers were then sorry that they had done so because of his harsh demands. They then vowed to force him out. There was much pressure surrounding the Parris family. The children of the family would entertain themselves by listening to stories told by Tituba, their slave (National Geographic). January of 1692 is when the mass hysteria of the Salem witch trials first began. The Puritans of this time were very harsh, unyielding, and quick to judge. They condemned innocent women on the basis of intangible evidence, confessions, and such things as "witchmarks" (Hill). Nine year old Betty Parris and eleven year old Abigail Williams, the daughter and niece of Reverend Parris, were the first to start to display signs of strange behavior. The author of A Storm of Witchcraft, Emerson W. Baker is a well known historian, archaeologist, and professor at Salem State University. In addition to receiving a Ph.D. in History from the College of William and Mary, an M.A. in History from University of Maine, and a B.A. in History from Bates College, Baker has also received many commendations and awards for his work. Among those awards, he has earned a membership in the Colonial Society of Massachusetts and was honored with the Maine Historical Society’s Neil Allen Award. Baker has also been the Chairman of Salem State University’s Archaeological Advisory Committee since 1990, and he has been the Chair for Maine Cultural Affairs Council since 2000. Baker has also written four other books, Devil of Great Island, New England Knight, American Beginnings, and Clarke & Lake Co.
Women play an influential role in The Odyssey. Women appear throughout the story, as goddesses, wives, princesses, or servants. The nymph Calypso enslaves Odysseus for many years. Odysseus desires to reach home and his wife Penelope. It is the goddess Athena who sets the action of The Odyssey rolling; she also guides and orchestrates everything to Odysseus’ good. Women in The Odyssey are divided into two classes: seductresses and helpmeets. By doing so, Homer demonstrates that women have the power to either hinder of help men. Only one woman is able to successfully combine elements of both classes: Penelope. She serves as a role model of virtue and craftiness. All the other women are compared to and contrasted with Penelope.
