Ethics is the good in an individual and should not be confused or interchanged with morality. As morality are the ways that an individual can obtain good by following the laws of one’s society and the commandments of one’s religion. Although there are many great philosophers whom have impacted the world, multiples of them have extremist views about society, and therefore Aristotle is the philosopher whom I consider has a similar perspective of ethics as myself. He discusses how the “good life” comes from happiness and continues to explain to attain the “good life” it must be done ‌‌as a community. Even though Aristotle is one of the eldest philosophers, his ideas of ethics are still relevant in today’s society.

One of Aristotle’s idea of ethics is “Human Excellence” which is about excellences virtues, meaning to act virtuously as a human being. Additionally, he argues “The Mean” displaying how individuals should not live with excess. “Human Excellence and The Mean” plays a huge role in attaining the “good life” as a community. Aristotle and I both recognize to obtain the “good life” as a community it must be done through virtues and not living with excess. How my ethics in me are related to “Human Excellence” and ”The Mean” in a community setting I am an active person in my school community and have been acknowledged by authority figures in my school by receiving student of the month (a pin given to students who have demonstrated a specific virtue of the month) four times in a row in grade 11. Equally important, I donate my gently used clothing that I do not need anymore to charities such as, Value Village and the Diabetes Society on a regular basis.
