Keeping his word, he lets down an almighty blow against Adam's face. The force of the strike sends a sonic boom around the surrounding area. For a moment, Adam seemingly floats in the air, suspended in time. Afterwards, he catapults backwards into the sand dune, appearing out the other end and crashing down onto the sand on the opposite end of the mound, forming a crater. Superman dominantly edges towards the landing site. With genuine regret, he says, "I really wished that it didn't come to this. Together, we could have protected this world." "Why protect a world that doesn't deserve it?" "Funnily enough, I was considering this question in relation to you, earlier. Obviously, most sane people would rather see you dead instead of alive …show more content…
for all the atrocities that you have done." Superman pauses, musing more to himself than his opponent. "I came to the conclusion that the choices that I have to make are left to me, because I have the power to decide the course of the entire globe. If that's the reason, doesn't this make me the ultimate judge? I am the one that's left to decide whether someone deserves to be saved." Adam scoffs, "of course, you believe that humanity is great and that its redeemable. That's the exact same hope that led to the downfall of your allies." "That may be so, Adam, but they were different to me in more ways than one. Whereas they were reluctant to make the necessary choices, I am the opposite. The Joker being a prime example. Lives saved with a simple application of force." Adam's legs bend ever so slightly, only being noticed because of Conner's remarkable vision. Before his legs fully extend and jump up, Superman was already face to face to him, holding him down by the shoulders. "Give up. You aren't worth my time." Lasers shoot out of Superman's eyes, hitting Adam straight in the face. Adam holds his head in pain, although the beam wasn't powerful enough to pierce his godlike durability. Uppercutting Adam into the sky and the lassoing his neck using the white lantern ring, Conner yanks him down once more. Adam lands with a loud crash. Zipping up to Adam, he picks up the villain into the air via his neck. "Use your wisdom, Adam. You need to look at what you could achieve without enslaving the world. Peace. Prosperity. People. Need. Rights." Surprisingly, lets out a distorted laugh, being cut off by the force around his throat. "Giving people their rights doesn't free them, it enslaves them further. Rights are what gives humans the ability to dominate what others do. Even if you aren't the one on control, other that also shouldn't be are. A president- able to make decisions that shape the fate of the entire nation. That should be us." "That's not what democracy is, Adam. And without democracy, what's the whole point of being different to others? In your world, people who aren't like the rest would be outcasts... that includes you." Superman tightens his hold on the throat as Adam twitches. "Please... kill me." Adam's plea falls on deaf ears. "Why should I? If you die, all the other innocents that have suffered under you won't come back alive. The only way to redeem a life of evil and corruption is to change and start a life of compassion and justice. Think about that." Adam replies with a brief, "why should I help those that won't help me?" "Because...
that's what heroes do," Superman inwardly responds, thinking about the lives that he has saved over the years; he knows for a fact that many of them wouldn't save his. "You stand up and do what's right, without conforming to what other people would do. That's what makes being a hero so special. Being apart of something greater than yourself or your family is a good way to live, believe it or …show more content…
not." Adam's eyes blink slowly.
"It's too late for me, Superman." "That's what I thought about myself too," Conner smiles warmly. "And guess what... I was wrong. I changed because other people that cared about me saw that I had the potential to be something great. And... I'd say that they were right. A shame they never got to see how right they were." Releasing his grip on the throat, Adam falls to his knees. Superman looks down at him sympathetically. "Today's the day that you become what you were supposed to be. Leave... and think about what I said." Kicking off into the sky, Conner soars for the atmosphere. Breaching the layer after around a minute of a cruising flight, he floats above the Earth. The sight is still breathing after all these years. Pockets of blue sprayed over a green and white canvas, the clarity of the scene magnificent. The first major landmass that he can see is Africa, a large plain of humanity surrounded by the deep, mysterious depths of the waters. Somewhere, Atlantis resides, prosperous and more than likely unaware of the developments occurring above their
paradise.
Although not every hero shouts “Avengers Assemble” before a worthy deed, heroism is shown in all aspects of the everyday world. Webster Dictionary has exactly 5 definitions under the word hero and still no two people explain heroism the same. Superman and Captain America are a glimpse of the fictional characters society titles a hero. Firefighters and Military portray heroism each day in the lives of every civilian. As Sullivan and Venter stated “individuals are referred to as ‘heroes’ for seemingly different reasons” and even through endless studies the adjectives referring heroes is ever changing. Among the various ideas of what it means to be a hero, boldness and valiance capture the essence of heroism.

Stand up to the injustice unafraid of the strong enemy. Do the right thing even if you are weak. That is who we call a hero. Johnny could satisfy himself to save his friend. He could literally do anything to save his friend.

A hero, as stated before, selflessly thinks about others’ well beings before his or her own. Bilbo Baggins, the hobbit who was enlisted to help the dwarves retrieve Thorin’s family treasure, does the same thing when he decides to take matters into his own hands, and end the fight between Thorin, the lake men, and the woodelves. Bilbo decides to give the Arkenstone, a p...
In my opinion, a hero is someone whose principal purpose, whether it be in one situation or over the span of their entire life, is to help others while simultaneously making the world a better place. When the word hero is brought up, the most prevailing image that comes to mind is superheroes like Batman and Superman. But I don’t think you have to have superpowers or even be well known in order to be a hero. There are people all over the world whose intention is to do selfless deeds and go out of their way for others without expectation of obtaining anything in return. These are the type of people I like to consider everyday heroes. They go through life just trying to be the best they can and trying to help as many people as they can. Whether
Superheroes have been around for at least 90 years. The first superhero comic book came out in 1933 about Superman. Since then, there have been tons of superheroes created and two of the most popular superhero “universes” have been made. These two “universes” are called Marvel and DC. Many people have different opinions on these two universes and it even begins in arguments and debates; however, Marvel is the better “universe” because they really took superheros to the next level. Marvel came out with more and more creative superheroes as the years went by. Marvels best superhero is the Incredible Hulk because of his changing ability, physical abilities, and work efficiency.
If I were to ask you who would win in a fight the Justice League or the Avengers, you may say the Avengers while your friend says the Justice League. Marvel and DC have been in constant battle over which company is better, and we all know the obvious answer is Marvel. They have a better style in writing their comics than DC does. They have way better movies than DC does. Marvel also, in my opinion, has way better superheroes too. Although I love DC with all my heart, Marvel is just a better franchise and does a better job of telling the stories of its superheroes.
Superheroes; they save and protect the world’s people. They courageously stand up and battle against evil, anarchy, injustice, crime, and sin. When the world has nothing else to defend itself, they are the ones who are present with a duty to safeguard everyone. The superheroes you may know, such as: Superman, Batman, Iron Man, etc. all have extraordinary superhuman powers which they use to shield those in need. However, anyone can be a superhero. Throughout history, many people have become like superheroes not because of extraordinary powers, but extraordinary courage, bravery, humanity, and love. Those people made a choice to risk everything they had in order to save another human being. Is it the right thing for a person to stand up and do the right thing?
When people think of heroes and villains they think of the characters who play these roles in cartoon movies like Batman and Spiderman, but in reality, anyone can be a hero and anyone can be a villain. Heroes are considered to be inspirational and bold because of what they do to help others. While villains are typically defined as a wicked or evil person who makes others feel helpless.
Beatty laughs. “There are things I do, but no one understands. Let’s just say I am a graceful man.”
Being able to fly, to defeat all the villains of the world, and having supernatural power are just some of the supernatural characteristics of a superhero. However, these characteristics are the personification of what society would indicate to be the perfect man; or, depending on what superhero, a woman. I grew up admiring and idolizing Superman. From wearing his underwear to owning every one of his videos, I yearned to become Superman. This, however, was obviously impossible. Superman can fly, create a laser beam from his eyes, and he can lift the heaviest of objects. Thus, not being a totally clueless kid, it was the ideals of being a man, that superman possessed, that I tried to copy: having incredible strength, being flagrantly courageous, and being heroic. This, through my admiration of Superman, is what I thought a man should be.
“I suppose that I have never properly thanked you for saving my life. I am sorry for that. I was not sure then that I wished it saved.”
Nearly 60% of adults confirm that they suffered some manner of traumatic experience during their childhood (SAMHSA, 2011). At a young age, they were not aware of murder, kidnappings, or sexual assault, but they believe in a just, fair world. Imagine a little boy no older than five, peacefully playing in his room when suddenly he hears the front door burst open followed by the screams of his father and consecutive gunshots. His mother runs to him and hides him, reassuring him that everything is fine. More gunshots follow and absolute silence lurks as the assailant’s footsteps fade away. The little boy emerges from his hiding spot only to see his mother in a pool of her own blood. To a young, innocent child this scene is too much to take in. He may question what happened, and he may wonder why his parents are not waking up. Ultimately, he cannot comprehend the loss and this shatters his world and leaves him lost (Brody 173). Because that world was shattered by a traumatic event, getting through to him can be a difficult task for a therapist. That trust in the world is now gone and feelings of helplessness leave a lasting impression (Brody, 173). This is an all too familiar story. It is very similar to the superhero Batman’s origin story. Given these similarities, that child is able to identify with Batman and use him as a role model. By using superheroes, a child can identify with using those characters as a means of communication, a therapist can easily establish a more comfortable setting in which a child can express how he or she views an experience and his or her troubled emotions. This medium of communication also provides an opportunity for the child to find a path to escape that torment and to conti...
