Okay, so this is kind of annoying me ... Since the release of Pokemon Go, I have come across article after article of “social justice warriors”, I.E. 'people who can't think of anything better to do with their time except cause trouble” complain about the 'dangers' of Pokemon Go. “Paedophiles use lures to literally lure children!” “People are swarming major roadways to catch non-existent monsters!” “People are using lures to rob people!” The list really does go on. As one article so accurately mentioned; 'a bazillion users' play Pokemon Go since its release. Yes, people are staring at their phones and not paying attention to where they are going. Yes, that's kind of stupid. Yes, I learnt my lesson from tripping on a branch in a dark park. …show more content…
Children are getting up from in front of their T. V's and getting outside. Families are spending time with each other, walking around and discovering their neighbourhood. People are making new friends with common interests. And although the means are a little different, they are doing it in a way that most of the people who are complaining about the game did when they were children. Out in the street, before the street lights go on. Yes, the world has changed, and not necessarily for the better. However, how does keeping people from going out, getting healthy and having fun doing it really affects your life in any way? How does the group of kids at the train station taking on the Pokemon Gym affect the way you live your life? What I wouldn't have given to have something like this when I was a teenager and it seemed like I was perpetually bored. What I wouldn't have done to have something like this as a kid to get me out of the house a bit more. Now I have it as an adult, and I will damn well use it. And so will the 'bazillion'

Some even actively engage using speech as well. Video games are now so completely realistic, that it is hard to tell whether you are witnessing live actions or actually participating in them - the fine line between reality and fantasy has become completely indistinguishable. Countless studies have shown that participating and witnessing this behavior in games corresponds to more aggressive behavior in life and a lack of empathy for the actual suffering of humanity. Participating in video game play may seem real, but like the cave prisoners, this interaction is nothing but an illusion. Video game play is precisely graphic trickery and as Plato writes it “was all a cheat and an illusion.” (paragraph 15)
Because of this movement, places that were once gross and industrial are inviting and lively, changing where many people who spend their free time throughout
Throughout history, social movements have continuously formed because of a person who had the courage to stand up against the injustice they witnessed in every day live. When I was a child, I remember feeling as if it takes a superhero-like person to start a social movement. However, I have found that through the use of social media today, any person with a passion for making a change can spark a social movement. Social movements are a powerful way to help people believe that their voice matters and they should stand up for what they believe in. Before the advancement of technology, it took a lot longer for social movements to become prominent in society’s media outlets because of the difficulties of not having enough time in one’s life to
More than 4 000 teenagers lose their life in car accidents in the United States every year. Ray La Hood says that distracted driving has become an epidemic; because many teenagers sell cellphones and they think that they can talk while driving the car safely, but they can’t.
Today’s society appears to be constantly on the go. People seem to be pulled in multiple directions at once. Individuals never appear to have enough time to complete tasks that continually accumulate. It can be difficult to criticize someone that tries to make the most out every minute. Unfortunately, some of today’s drivers show a lack of judgment and trying to perform other tasks, while behind the wheel. People may feel this is best use time while getting to a destination. Occasionally, the small amount of time that people are trying to gain results in a time consuming accident. With modern conveniences that are geared toward an on the go public, individuals appear to be too preoccupied to driving safely.
Even if just one person puts their phone down and concentrates on the road and not where the party is or who they got a snapchat from that is one less possible accident.
When I was about seven years old, someone pulled right out in front of my parents. We missed hitting them. When I was nine, we almost backed into another car coming down the road. The lady was on her cell phone, not paying any attention to the road. When I was 13, we finally did hit someone. It was my brother’s fault. My brother should have been more focused. These are all things that happen to everyone at one point in their lives. It’s inevitable. I think if people were to pay more attention to the road, crashes would happen less often. Driving can be dangerous, and people can be even more dangerous if not focusing on the task at hand.
When one hears the word video games what is normally thought of? “Donkey Kong” possibly, or maybe the newer games like “Call of Duty” (COD) or “Halo” and “Grand Theft Auto” (GTA). Either way video games have gone though many advancements over the years. Since back in the 80’s when arcade games and games like “Donkey Kong” were around games could only go linearly up and down or left and right. For insistence in “Super Mario” the character could not move backwards only forwards and up and down (jumping). Now when looking back to those old, classic games they seem cheap, glossy and even not appealing to the new gamers of the current generation. This is because of the new development in games, such as, “Lara Croft Tomb Raider” where the graphics, sounds, vibrations from the controller makes the game so realistic. It’s almost as if those playing are in the game and are experiencing what ever it is the main character is going through. These games however fun and realistic they are, seem have a bad side affect to the youth. Games like GTA can affect the upbringing of young children who play even though they are not yet at a development stage to handle the level of violence in the game. There have been cases where children have reenacted the games, and many children who play start to think that the violence is okay.
Video games. They provide an escape from reality to explore worlds and realms beyond our own. However there is a lot of controversy surrounding wether or not video games are good for you, many people are under the impression that video games turn kids and adults alike into mindless zombies hellbent on violence but in this essay I aim to convince you that not only is this untrue but that video games are actually beneficial. I’d also like to mention that too much of anything is bad for your health, for example extremely high quantities of broccoli can be toxic.
Video games have been around about 50 years and they contribute a big part of the U.S. economy. People interact with video games every day throughout different ways, such as cell phone devices, computers, consoles or whatever which has a screen on it. In fact, it has always affected people’s lives. However, not so many people understand the benefits of video games. With video games, people can not only relieve themselves from stress and suffering, but it also improves people’s social experiences while they are exchanging and absorbing knowledge with other people; more than that, people can learn many other things from video games which can help them to achieve great things in lives.
can change the lives of people who interact and take part in leisure activities in the outside world.
Someone is sitting on a stage with people clapping and people cheering, but they didn’t sing or dance, they did magic while playing a video-game. This is competitive gaming. People can see and know that gaming is fun. They are playing a sport. Some disagree with this, but many other people believe it is. The players must go to the gym for fast reactions and stamina and must be very mentally focused, and just agree to stick with the trends as well. Video gaming should be a sport.
Over the past years, video games have been a way to escape reality for some people. Video games vary from fantasy, romance, and role playing games to violent games. However, vicious video games have been blamed for school shootings, growths in bullying, and violence concerning women. Various people argue that these games numb players to violence, recompense players for imitating violence, and educate children that violence is a suitable way to resolve conflicts.
Several years ago, technology and child’s play were not such as extremely developed as today. Thousands of teenagers have video game as their primary form of entertainment at home. The disagreement about violent video games is because they focus on several subjects such as violence scenes, pornographic content, racism and other resources. For many years, researchers have been debating if video games can cause dependence or not. However, an expert, Jack Flanagan believes video games have a really negative effect on a person’s life and even for children. Jack states that video game addiction exists, and can have the same effects as drugs and alcohol (Netzley 36-37). This shows that video game addiction can be like other addictions
