In this day and age where car owners are plentiful and the number of convenient parking spaces is inadequate, it is a complete abomination to society that some people choose to park in such a way that they occupy more than one parking space. To simply imagine the sight of one measly car taking up the amount of space meant for two is nearly unbearable. To make matters worse, each space is specifically marked with lines in order to guide one in their parking endeavors. By ignoring these lines and parking poorly, it is clear that drivers who do this must be completely incompetent. To make matters worse, when another, perfectly capable driver and parker arrives at a location with intent to park their car relatively close to their location, and …show more content…
A system shall be created by police departments to report and identify poor parkers. This online system will provide a location for upset drivers to upload pictures of license plates and awful park jobs. In addition to user-submitted photos, the system will also utilize cameras that are installed in the parking lots. The use of these cameras will not cost additional money, as many lots already have cameras in place for the sake of security, as noted in an article from Home Buying Checklist. The system will then judge the park job on its severity to then determine its punishment. For example, if a car is parked only inches across the line that denotes the space, it will incite less punishment than one which is parked in the direct center of two spaces. After the severity of the offense has been determined, the police department must then notify the offender of his offense and punishment. Said punishments will range appropriately based on the individual park job. Sentences may include the following: required classes in which participants must complete five coloring pages colored in perfectly, required viewing of instructional videos on what a parking lot is and what each space is for, required attendance of instructional events in which proper parking is explained and practiced, suspension of a driver’s license, and in the most severe cases, prison for seven …show more content…
Firstly, there is currently no punishment for rude parking such as that as I have described earlier. With the institution of undesirable consequences, drivers will be less likely to park in ways which obstruct the parking of others. Referred to as deterrence, this concept regarding the threat of punishment has seemed to be a recurring trend. The National Institute of Justice has determined that “the certainty of being caught is a vastly more powerful deterrent than the punishment.” Based on this, it is logical to assume that my parking system will deter poor parking. Secondly, fines that are paid as forms of punishment will provide greater income to our country’s institutions. As explained by a SeattlePi article, the money from current parking tickets is allocated to multiple locations, the most prominent of which being the Public Safety and Education Account, and the city in which the ticket was given itself. Both of these things are worthy of receiving the extra money that would be collected from these fines. Thirdly, ensuring proper parking will save time for many people. Instead of driving in circles around a packed parking lot looking for a space that isn’t occupied by half of a car, there will be plenty of open spaces with adequate room for parking a car. Fourthly, with a threat of punishment in place, there will be legal motivation for people to properly park their cars. Fifthly, with all
The choice to lower the amount of spaces available is to leave room for a nice park. At the front of the parking lot will be a kiosk and two gates where tourists will grab a ticket and also pay as they leave. This will ensure that the fee of five dollars per hour is being paid by keeping those in who haven’t paid it. The money from that fee would go to maintain the parking lot and bettering the park. To not build a parking garage at this time may anger some businesses, but the city will agree to look into the issue again in five years and decide then what should be done, if
The infrastructure in West Main Street is not dissimilar to City Road in regards to the street bollards which have been introduced to stop vehicles parking on the pavements. Pedestrian islands are another similarly regular sight throughout the street. (‘The Street’, 2009, Scene 1) Both these material things are there to ensure the safety and ease of pedestrians while drivers may find these a nuisance as they are restricted to the small amount of parking bays along the street instead of parking on the pavement for convenience, consequently resulting in an inequality amid the public. There is a steady flow of traffic through the street of which most are cars but there are a lot of busses as well. The busses seem to be in favour of...
Deputy Strange conducted a residential patrol at Strom Park Drive and Lake Andrew Drive, without instruction and using his own initiative to look for criminal activity and to maintain visual deterrence. Deputy Strange utilized his radio to conduct this residential patrol. During the patrol, Deputy Strange noticed two parking violations and written parking warnings for the violations. See Section three and four. Deputy Strange cleared the call with CAD comments without assistances. No officer safety issues were observed during this case.
If not, everyone will feel the liberty to do as they please which will cause chaos and resentment. Enforcement of the social contract within the town will be carried out by the Board of Selectmen and town authorities. I think the best option under the Social Contract Theory would actually be a little bit different from the recommended suggestions. I think keeping things equal between all citizens will be the best possible solution for everyone. The town should keep the parking lots the current size that they are to keep the beach population to a manageable and safe level for everyone visiting. Parking meters should then be installed within those parking lots, giving open access to all towns and individuals. By putting in the parking meters this will allow everyone equal access to the beaches. Due to the parking meters being for a specific amount of time, individuals will only be able to be parked in the spot for that amount of time. When the time is up and they leave this allows others to come in and use the beach, cutting down on the people not being able to get parking spots. The money from the meters will help to maintain the beaches as well as the parking lots. The town may also make money with the meters to put back into the town for their residents. Expired meters will receive a parking ticket which will also provide the city with

Parking on Campus is a Pain New students entering Concordia College are not permitted to have a car on campus. With each new freshman class entering every year, parking represents an issue. Concordia is as of now constrained in its parking on campus and since first year students are not permitted to have cars, the students are confronted with the problem of having no place to park or parking very a long way from their goal. There are parking issues everywhere throughout the campus, making backups in residence hall and other lots, bringing about students parking illegally to avoid from walking far distances, which can be very aggravating in the bitter cold. Parking nearer appears like the reasonable thing to do, however it is a hazard, which
Central Park was one of those best outdoor venues for huge concerts. But not only that, it is even one of the venue for the largest concerts ever in terms of estimated attendance. That seems quite a feat but the huge space that the park offers was able to accommodate around 980,000 attendees during Garth Brooks’ concert in 1997.

We always hear "do not litter!" or "throw your litter in the bins", maybe some of you bored to hear that yet we still do not throw it in the correct place. Litter is a serious habit problem to just throw away objects on the ground or leave them lying on the ground, instead of putting them in the garbage can. In Indonesia, the amount of litter is 175.000 ton/day and this is increasing every day. But we don't have to see that far, just look around us, our campus, Sanata Dharma University is still facing the littering problems. Each day, although there are various spots of bins and it is never full yet there are many litters lying in the floor, you can see the student hall as the evidence that even though it has 10 spots of bins, we still find people throwing their litter everywhere.
Parking on campus needs improving. Students entering the university are allowed to have a car on campus. With every new freshmen class entering parking posses a problem on campus. The campus is already limited in its parking on campus and since freshmen are allowed to have cars, the students before them are faced with the dilemma of how many new freshmen will be bringing a car to school.
In the past when I was young, I used to think that the blue parking handicapped sign was only for disabled individuals who were in wheelchairs. My reason for thinking of that was, because when you look at the sign you see an individual and a wheelchair. Therefore, I thought it was only for individuals who were wheelchair bound. It would bother every time I would see an individual get out of their car, and be able to walk to a store, supermarket, their home, and other places without any problems. I would always think, the person who is car is parked in a handicapped parking spot is going to get a ticket. As time passed, and I grew older to understand, I became aware that the handicapped parking spot is for anyone with a disability, and have
It is hard to find parking on campus, especially during rush hours. Both students and professors are encountering trouble for this crisis. As a simple example, the parking lot next to the Sarkeys building is always full. This problem is a continuous, daily hazard. As a student required to maintain a lot of class schedules and activities, I suffer from the parking problem daily and find that others encounter the same. It is true that the university is working on a new parking garage, but during the construction process, there is no alternative way to settle the crisis. The official home page of OU parking and transportation services is a source to consider for exploring the problem.
So we are going to design a system which aims to improve parking facilities by the introduction of a smart car parking system. The system will automatically assign a vacant space to the patrons for parking their vehicles. The patron will be guided to the specified location by referring to variable message sign and the map and the location printed on the parking ticket, in which the whole process is monitored by a central computer to store and update the occupancy status of available parking space vacancies in the database.

“Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of unintentional deaths for teens (16-17),” reported The New York State Department of Health. The most exciting thing about being sixteen in the United States is driving. Teenagers can not wait to be sixteen to drive, however, they do not understand the dangers that come with driving at such a young age. Sixteen is the age between child life and adulthood. It is a time when they are not stable and undergoing change, which makes them unsuitable to drive. Many teenagers would say that they need to get to places. In response to that claim, there are public transportation systems and bikes as available alternatives for young drivers. The financial stability and matureness of eighteen year olds proves
