Cancer is one of the most fatal diseases known to human beings. Every year about half a million victims die of cancer and over a million and a half new cases appear. Breast cancer is one of the most prevalent cancers that raid women. Roughly 232000 women annually get diagnosed with breast cancer and 40000 tragically die of it (Siegel, R., Ma, J., Zou, Z., & Jemal, A.; 2014). The treatment of breast cancer was radical mastectomy which is the complete removal of the breast and nipple. With the advancement of technology nowadays, there are much more options one can explore before. Preventive mastectomy or Prophylactic mastectomy is a technique to prevent breast cancer. Women at high risk of developing breast cancer, usually with a family history, undergo this preventive mastectomy to remove both breast tissues that might become cancerous (Guillem et al., 2006). One would argue that everything that is preventive is good and that it is better than having the actual cancer but facts in this case state otherwise. Preventive mastectomies should not be done because it is very harmful to women in many dimensions.
