Though most in society agree that processed foods are unhealthy, many debate over whether sugar is good in any form. The common items up for debate are foods that contain natural sugars, such as fruit. Although sugar comes in healthy, natural forms, sugar is detrimental to the population’s health in all processed forms. In his Ted Talk from 2010, Jaime Oliver discusses the negative impacts of America’s eating habits. We have become so used to eating out, that many families to not cook at home whatsoever (Oliver 2010). There are many bad qualities to processed food, but the main one Oliver addresses is the excessive amounts of sugar it contains. Oliver discovered, during his research, that many parents do not even know how to cook, meaning their kids will not learn either (Oliver 2010). This generational pattern may not be so prevalent now, but generations will suffer exponentially if this trend does not cease.
