In my opinion, it is not Youtube’s or social media’s fault for the brainless thing that people are doing that is going around social media. Kids are filming themselves doing dangerous stunts to get famous online, and many kids are getting hurt in the process. Some people think that it is youtube or other sites that there kids hurt and it is Youtube fault for what their kids are doing . Other thinks it’s is Youtube fault for what dangerous stunts kids are doing. Some kids where even doing these dangerous stunts before youtube even started. Some kids or teen have been doing dumb things that makes other teens or kids want to try it for youtube. All these challenge people are doing like tide pot challenge or other challenge are dangerous to do and could kill people. It isn’t youtube fault for the dangerous stuff these people are doing stupid things. It not social media fault when …show more content…
Some people think that youtube encourage people by giving them money for the video that they make but these kids that make the video just want money. These kids that think it Youtube fault well youtube did not encourage these kids or teens to do what they did. These people just want to be famous but they know they are doing is really foolish and challenges video that can get them hurt. Kids or teens watch other people video that do a trick and they want to try it and see if they could do it, they could end up hurt .This is why youtube doesn’t encourage these people to make these video. My main point is it isn't youtube fault for these kids or teens behavior of when these kids or teens get hurt or what they did. Some of these kids brains are telling them what to do and these kids do it and end up with a broke body parts or other things. These kids that are doing dumb things like stunts which make kids or teens want to try it and see what happens. Some of these kids don’t know what is going to happen after they do I can they know not to try it
This brings about another issue: children’s protection from this kind of content. More needs to be done to protect children’s eyes from inappropriate things on the TV, billboards, music, and other forms of media. Unfortunately, because society has gone as far as it has today, it will be very difficult to take a step back and re examine the effects violent media will have on children. People seem to care less and less about what children see. The need for protection from this type of content relies solely on the parents. Parents must take it upon themselves to guard their children against things on the media that they should not be seeing. Parents should be given different options with technology to help monitor the content their kids are allowed to see and what they are
James Franco says “Attention seems to be the name of the game when it comes to social networking”, I agree with this as all teenagers in today’s society seem to want is attention. This affects them by distancing themselves from who they truly are and what they believe in as they are very focused on trying to give the people only what they like to see. For example, the Snapchat article states, “Teens have this fear that people might be doing something cooler than us, so we feel like we need to make it seem like we are doing something even cooler.” Teenagers go that extra step of doing something that they might not agree with just to feel good about getting other’s attention. This has affected teenagers because they have forgotten of expressing what they believe in or what they
Studies also found that 6.4% had intentionally cut bruised or harmed themselves and that 8.1% had though about suicide and 1.3% had actually attempted suicide. This evidence shows that social media is bad for teens and preteens. If social media got banned then there would not be any sort of problem like this.
I happen to sympathize with the children, though, perhaps because they’re getting hooked on these games and some have aggressions problems because of them. Increased exposure to violent or “action packed” vide...
YouTube has also been adding age limits to the comedy videos. But why would teens be doing something so dangerous? Well honestly, it’s all about the likes, comments, shares, followers, it’s all about that fifteen seconds in the spot light. What better way to gain popularity by doing dumb acts for others to laugh at. This isn’t the first time something like this has happed, there has been several “challenges” over the years from the cinnamon challenge to the eraser challenge to the bath salt challenge. None of these are smart things to do but luckily the attention slowly faded away over time and teens stopped doing
Over four billion YouTube videos are viewed each day. They have to pay operating cost pay for employees and pay people to literally take down videos that don’t fit into the YouTube standard. YouTube is free for most videos and all they ask is for the viewer to watch part of an ad in which after around 20 seconds you can skip the commercial which might pay for the free viewing. YouTube should continue the previously decided royalties to keep them financially safe. One has to remember that not all content on YouTube produces any form of money. Since certain videos receives payment artists have begun to become aggravated.
Some believe that social networking sites should be controlled by the government as it would protect our fellow children and maybe another generation. It has been reported in the news for some time that some children have been bullied on these sites which caused them to commit suicide. Was the invention of social networking sites good or bad? Not all children use social networking sites to create havoc or destroy other people’s lives and many agree they have a positive effect. There are many people who disagree with social networking sites being controlled by the government.
In today’s society, much advancement has been made throughout the universe. However, one that seems to stand out in particular is the use of social media. Social media has both positive and negative effects on society. This advancement has led to a difference in communication to everyone by reconnecting with others, or even informing the public nationwide through televisions such as the news or talk shows. However, is social media safe to use? Social media has a great impact on everyone in society. While allowing your children or teenagers to engage in social media a few things to consider are the risks of youth using social media, what age is too young, and also how social media is useful in some cases. Children participate in cyber bullying now and even find themselves involved in bad habits, such as sexting (Schurgin O’Keefe). According to a recent poll conducted, over 22 percent of teenagers log onto their social media site more than ten times a day (Schurgin O’Keefe). Not everything is negative towards social media, but there are precautions that need to be taken when there is the youth involved.
They have invited the challenges that are dangerous and could kill the people doing the stunts and dangerous things. Youtube has invited the horrible challenges that the children get influenced by and the challenges that could kill them but they do it anyway. In the story it says that Youtube has been invited the bad behavior by letting the other people post the videos and letting the other kids see these videos on youtube and get influenced by them. That is the last reason why Youtube is to blame for the kids doing the dangerous
too. These violence, can cause kids to do what ever is on TV. For example, my
Trending videos and live broadcasting are displaying individuals taking their own lives or bringing pain onto themselves. Vulnerable young children are watching and influenced by these un-restricted harmful videos. During another search, researchers were analyzing how accessible self-injury videos were on YouTube. The results proved that the top videos on how to harm oneself had millions of viewers but with no age restrictions. And of these videos seven were pro-self-injury visuals.
I believe that the key to safe and secure social media begins with proper use. Illegal and highly discouraged activities should not be tolerated and consequences should be mandatory. In terms of social media use in teens and young adults, it is important for parents to teach their children what acceptable use of computers and social media is so that they can understand the potential danger and all minors should be monitored while using the Internet to ensure safe usage is being followed. Regardless of age, all users of social media should think twice before clicking the post button about what unintended consequences that post could have.
There are about one and a half billion users of social media worldwide. It can be used to meet new people, find old friends, chat the day away, join interest groups, or even to share pictures. Social networks were mostly created so people could meet and find new friends. What most users of social media don't know, are the dangers of using social media. One example is when you meet a person online, because they are not always who they say they are. If someone is not who you may think they are, who could they be? They can be a stalker or a person that wants to steal your identity; which could be done easily thanks to new developments of new technology. Also thanks to new technology it is now easier for people using your information to track you. Posting personal information can risk your family and friends lives. Social media can be used as a weapon against you. It can even lead to a kidnapping, or even someone's death. Many people use social media to help to waste time, but could also become an unhealthy addiction. Also social media can damage your future. When you are a teen you tend to post pretty much anything you want. This is dangerous because you can post too much personal information. What most teens don't realize is that what they do on social media now can affect them for the rest of their life. It can even come back to haunt you in the future. Social media is dangerous because it makes it easier to be stalked, identity theft to happen, kidnappings and murders, and also can ruin your future.
It is also a necessity that parents have an understanding of digital media to avoid the generational technology divide. This is a divide that is quickly growing because children are learning about digital media at a faster rate than their parents. If young people have an understanding of how to make good choices on digital media than they are less likely to negatively affect their future college applications and jobs through what they post online. Cyberbullying is a large problem among young people, and this is often because they are able to hide behind a screen while posting anything they want online. Bullying has always been a problem amongst students, but digital media has created a whole new form. There have been countless suicides as a result of cyberbullying. If young people have a thorough understanding of the consequences of digital media then cyberbullying is likely to decrease. Social media can beneficial in connecting people together and allowing them to build relationships, if young people are educated they are more likely to know how to communicate with one another in a positive way (Dotterer). Digital media can be beneficial to young people if it is properly used, it can assist in their learning and it can connect them with people globally. It is important that parents are monitoring what their children are doing online, to protect and to encourage them. It is important that young people are aware of the consequences that are a result of using digital media to ensure that they can avoid misusing this
The first effect of mass media on teenagers is violence. Aggressive behavior is the first example of violence in the media. Aldridge argues that, teens who watch violent movies may behave in an aggressive way towards others for example bullying and fighting in school. This is important because there are high risks of teenage developing into aggressive behavior that may last into adulthood if they are not being supervised on what they see on TV (2010). Fearful of the world may also occur for those who watch violence television programs. According to children and television violence, teens that are being over exposed to violent on television may worry about becoming a target of violence. The relevance of this idea is that teenagers will more likely grow up thinking that the world is a scary place and that something bad will happen to them (2008). Imitative behavior is another major effect of seeing violence in the media. According to Weldon, two teens from Johnstown, Colorado, killed a 7 year old girl by beating her to death. The teens claimed that they were imitating moves from a video game called “Mortal Combat.” This is an example case which shows that violence in the video game may lead to an imitating behavior (2007).
