I believe that animal testing should be illegal. Animal testing should be illegal because it harms and potentially kills innocent animals. Whether scientists are using animals to test on beauty products, medicine or anything in between, it’s still terrible. Animal testing is considered animal cruelty. Animal cruelty is the crime of purposely inflicting serious pain, suffering, or even death on an animal. Animal testing is helpful for the development of new medicines and cures, however, people now have the ability to test cells in petri dishes which is not harming people nor animals. Even The Food and Drug Administration has said that “92% of all drugs are shown to be safe and effective in animal tests, fail in human trials…”. This proves that animal testing in completely bad science. …show more content…
Think about that. Yes it’s still 8%, but, there is still that other 92%? Thats 92% of tests that have failed. The F.D.A also states that “And of the small percentage of drugs approved for human use, half end up being relabeled because of side effects that were not identified in tests on animals.” This is what angers me. Yes, I understand that you have to test something before you know it works, however, these are people, scientists even that don’t realize ahead of time that humans and animals react completely different to different types of drugs and medicines. Then there is the classic “We don’t want to use animals, but we don’t have any other options.” This is something that is said a lot by people who aren't personally testing on animals but work for the company. The truth is, we already are testing on humans. because if you think about it, there always has to be someone who using the drug first. So technically we already test on humans. People learn from their mistakes every single
Everyday, tons of innocent animals lose their life because of animal testing. The animals have no choice. Also, they suffer extremely. Animal testing is bad and should be banned to alleviate the torture of animals, prevent illnesses in the animals, and prove that it doesn’t always work the same on humans as it did on animals.
Today, millions of animals are captured in cold laboratories feared to be tested on once again across the country. Imagine living a life with constant pain, ache and loneliness, and to dream about roaming free. I believe animals should not be tested on for products because all living things should be treated humanely, there are other ways to test products, and millions of animals are put to their death because of the labs.
In the twenty first century, we have so many other alternatives besides continuing to burn, shock, poison, starve, and kill over 100 million animals to test new household products and medicines when it has been proved that animal testing is an ineffective way to cure illnesses and improve human life. Animals do not suffer the same illnesses as humans do and injecting them into animals and studying the effects delays our time to further understand the sickness on an actual human. Seeing that an animals’ genetic makeup is much different from a humans then certain medicines that work on animals more often than not are not effective on humans. Therefore, results are often very misleading. “Animals are fed harmful substances, infected with lethal viruses, subjected to brain damage, heart attacks, strokes, and cancers”(“What’s Wrong With…”). Through a humane perspective, the murder of millions of animals is a disturbing thought to hold. As a country, we continue to remain oblivious to what continues to go on behind laboratory doors for cosmetic, medical, and industrial purposes.
Right now, millions of animals—including mice, rats, dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs and monkeys—are locked in tight cages in laboratories waiting in fear for the next terrifying and painful lab experiment to be performed on them. (“Animals Used for Experimentation”) Such testing is used for things like biology lessons, medical training, curiosity-driven experimentation, and general cosmetic testing. (“Animal Experiments: Overview”) Animal testing should not continue in our world being that animals have rights similar to us, rights to live a life free of torture, free of being held against their will in a laboratory. Furthermore, animal testing is inhumane, it violates the lives of all animals used in such testing, it is very expensive for the inaccuracy of the results we obtain from it and it is unreliable as animals differ from humans in many ways. (“Pros and Cons of Animal Testing Facts”)
According to the Greek tragedian Aeschylus, "Wisdom comes alone through suffering," implying that genuine insight and comprehension are frequently forged in the furnace of misfortune. Characters ensnared by the harsh reality of their oppressive cultures in Arthur Miller's "The Crucible" and Margaret Atwood's "The Handmaid's Tale" powerfully depict this idea. The complex traits of suffering and its potential to foster profound self-knowledge are explored in both Atwood's dystopian novel, which depicts a future theocracy where women are subjugated, and Miller's play, which is set against the backdrop of the Salem witch trials. In "The Crucible" and "The Handmaid's Tale," suffering does more than just test the characters' limits; it also becomes
To begin, animal testing is a problem in today’s society because it is inhumane, and enormously cruel, this is considered animal abuse. Like humans, animals can feel the agony and fear, as well as, happiness and contentment. There are many animals who are incarcerated in laboratories, instead of casually interacting with other animals for fun. For instance, the article, Human Science is Superior Science states, “Animals in labs live stressful, monotonous, and unnatural lives of daily confinement and deprivation”
Animal testing should not be allowed because it abuses animals who cannot defend themselves. It is clear that there are other ways to test medicines, vaccines, and procedures but the government still allows people to test on animals. It is unfair to abuse an animal that cannot defend itself when 7 billion people are on the earth who would give more accurate feedback. The number of people is overwhelming that could instead of abusing animals, we could test on inmates and volunteers who can consent to the possible issues that may come with the tests. Animal testing should not be allowed because it leads to animal cruelty and does not allow us to exercise other methods of
Is animal testing really worth taking away animal’s valuable lives? No, I think it’s wrong, inhumane, and cruel. Animals have feelings like humans do and they should be treated with respect even though they are just animals. When animals are tested over time they live in cruel and harsh conditions. They are tied up and changed to their cages or devices they are being tested on. Almost all tests fail in humans and it is not worth sacrificing an animals life.Think about all the things animals have to go through all the harsh and cruel treatment. They are put in conditions where they are not allowed to eat or drink and move around. Is it really worth killing an animals for eyeliner that will never hit the market or for drugs that all fail in humans. So here are some of the reasons I think we should ban all animal testing.
For decades, using animals for laboratory testing has been a controversial issue. Typically, animal testing is used to test cosmetics and medicines that may be used on humans. Scientists tend to use animals for testing when there’s a chance that the chemicals used in the substances could cause harm to the person using them. It is estimated that more than 115 million animals world-wide are used in lab experiments every year. Since only a small proportion of countries collect and publish data concerning animal use for research, the exact number is unknown. The question is whether the use of experimenting with animals is morally right or wrong. Most people would agree that of course it is wrong. If these heinous acts were committed outside labs,
The way I look at animal testing is a form hateful cruelty. None of these people care about if it hurts or kills the animals. The cruelty has been going on long enough and I think it is time to stop. What people do not know is that animal’s react a different way to drugs as humans do, so scientist cannot apply the results to humans. Many animals go through screaming, unbearable, horrific; you cannot even imagine pain when they go through test for products that you use every day such as: Cosmetics, Household Products, Medical Products, even Iams dog products. Some well-known animals that are use for testing are: cats, dogs, mice, rats, hamsters, guinea pigs, gerbils, sheep, llamas, cattle, owls, deer, monkeys and other primates. These are not, by any means, all of the animals that they use. These are just the most common ("Animal Rights: Animal Testing"). Animals cannot tell you that something hurts, but they can scream to let the scientist know, but none of them care that it hurts them so bad. Some scientist do not see that countless animals suffer and die, or that it is just plain wrong. These animals suffer, feel pain, hurt and want to live as we do. These companies have burned the skin off some animals, mutilated some bunnies’ ears, poisoned the mice, punching puppies in the face, drip a substance in bunnies eyes, and the suffering and dying of these animals has gone on too long.
Animal testing has been around since the third and fourth centuries BC, when it was performed by Greek philosopher-physicians. However, it is unknown when people began to question this process. In today’s society, the idea of testing products on animals has become more and more controversial with numerous groups being created and becoming even more vocal. While people will decide for themselves where they stand in this argument, I would hope that most would agree that animal abuse is wrong. So, if animal abuse is wrong and animal testing can be, and usually is, much more painful and severe than animal abuse; why can’t people agree on the subject of animal testing? However, the argument for animal testing is also legitimate. Animal testing can help scientists find side effects, medicines, even cures. So, are the advantages of testing on animals worth the ethical issues it creates?
Picture yourself in a testing laboratory; needles, drugs, and knives pointed in your direction with you having no idea what’s going on around you, this is how animals everyday are treated, we have to stop this now! Millions of animals are killed in laboratories everyday with no chance to object to what the testers are about to do to them. Animals feel as much pain as humans do so why does it make it okay to test on them when they are so alike to humans? Every day people test makeup, shampoos, and medicines on animals, the strange thing is that animals have different skin, hair, and internal organs than humans have. Since the animals have different internal organs than humans only 5-25% of the testing results are agreeable between animals and humans. Humans don’t allow animals to have the right to say that they don’t want to be tested on, but humans have the rights to say they do or do not want to be tested on. There are many non-animal alternatives that humans can use to test products, but many testers refuse to use them. Do you think that these animals enjoy being tested on?! Animals are being tormented everyday in laboratories, animal testing must stop!
end_animal_testing/qa/about.html?referrer= https://www.google.ca/) Sadly, only a small portion of the tests are accurate and provide new treatments. Animal testing should be banned because it is dangerous to humans as the tests don't provide us with accurate results, it's wasteful on the environment, and all animals are different
Animals are used in research to develop new medicines and for scientists to test the safety of the medicines. This animal testing is called vivisection. Research is being carried out at universities, medical schools and even in primary and elementary schools as well as in commercial facilities which provide animal experiments to industry. (UK Parliament) In addition, animals are also used in cosmetic testing, toxicology tests, “defense research” and “xenotransplantation”. All around the world, a huge amount of animals are sentenced to life in a laboratory cage and they are obliged to feel loneliness and pain. In addition scientists causing pain, most drugs that pas successfully in animals fail in humans. It is qualified as a bad science. Above all, animals have rights not to be harmed even though the Animal Welfare Act does not provide them even with minimal protection. The law does not find it necessary to use current alternatives to animals, even if they are obtainable. Animal testing should be banned due to animal rights, ethical issues, alternative ways and the unreliability of test results in humans.
According to the article” Save the Animals: Stop Animal Testing,” animals’ rights are violated when the sciences are doing the research and there are many similar ways between humans and animals, such as how they feel and behave. Even though animals cannot express their opinions, they still feel, think, and experience pain. When the sciences use animals to do the research, humans still need to respect them because of animals’ rights. Animals have their opinions they cannot explain and humans have a duty to protect animals’ rights. Animal testing should be banned because humans need to respect their minds.
