Do you know how many animals die each year because of animal testing? Each year millions of animals die, since 150 years ago is when animal testing started. An estimated 92 percent of drugs tested fail to get on the market. Animal testing is increasing more than it is decreasing in countries like the USA, Japan, China, Australia and also Canada.(https://www.crueltyfreeinternational.org/why-we-do-it/facts-and-figures-animal-testing) Each year more than 100 million animals such as mice, rats, monkeys, fish, dogs and cats are killed for medical training, chemical, drug, food and cosmetic testing.(http://www.hsi.org/campaigns/end_animal_testing/qa/about.html?referrer=https://www.google.ca/) Sadly, only a small portion of the tests are accurate and provide new treatments. It's dangerous for the animal, but most importantly to humans. When using a drug called Vioxx used to treat arthritis it was safe when it was used on monkeys. When it was tested on humans is caused an estimated 320 000 heart attacks and strokes, and It caused 140 000 worldwide deaths.(https://www.crueltyfreeinternational.org/why-we-do-it/arguments-against-animal-testing) As this proves that there is a higher chance of death since all testing might not be correct.In 2006 a group of volunteers were testing a new treatment at Northwick Park hospital. As they were given the dosage they suffered severe allergic reactions which could have killed them.Therefore, this isn't only dangerous, but it is life-threatening.
