Every year, approximately 56 billion farm animals are slaughtered by humans. This horrific number doesn't even include fish who's deaths are so great they are only measured in tons. Animals are not simply for our cravings, they have feelings and emotions just like us. Most people are horrified to hear about animals being harmed unnecessarily, but what they don't realize is how brutally animals are treated moments before their death. However, there is a way we can make a difference. If one person vowed to live a vegan lifestyle for one year, they could save nearly 200 animals. Although this number doesn't compare to how many we slaughter per year, if an abundant amount of people chose not to eat anything from an animal, we could all make a …show more content…
Raising animals for food now takes up an astonishing 30% of the earths land mass. Also, 70% of the grain grown in United States is fed to farmed animals. If we didn't have as many farmed animals we could feel thousands of people in need of food. One reason why people are so against subtracting meat from their diet is because they think they have to have it for protein and strength. However, what they don't know is that a healthy diet can most easily be attained by a plant-based diet. In order to get the protein that meat would usually provide, soy products and vegetables are a good substitution. Vegetables provide health benefits that meat cannot do for you. They are rich in potassium and vitamins that your body needs to obtain energy. Another main reason people don't want to evolve into a vegan lifestyle is because they are afraid to commit. They doubt how much will power they have but in reality, if you have a set food routine and easy recipes to make, it is easier to achieve. Besides a healthier diet, there are many other benefits that come with subtracting animal products from your diet. One benefit includes the reduced risk of diabetes, strokes, and heart disease. For people struggling with clear skin and weight gain, this is another beneficial factor. When there is no milk and meat in your diet, it stops acne from forming and gives you healthier
.... People do not have to become vegetarians, but people should consider other meat and food as alternatives. Ultimately, if a majority of people chose organic farms and foods it would put a heavy hit on the meat production business. People will be eating healthier, and they will be doing their healthy part in the ecosystem and that will help to lower greenhouse gas emissions and greatly improve treatment of animals. The prices of organic food just need to come down dramatically for people to buy it. Methane from liquid manure, nitrous oxide from manmade fertilizers, carbon dioxide from machines are why people have put themselves and animals into a dilemma and made it into a never-ending continuous cycle.
Many people feel like they need meat to survive, and that makes them turn a blind eye to the monstrous killings of animals. It is said that we became efficient killers by watching other killers (Scientificamerican.com), but people keep enabling killing past the point where it’s necessary to survive. It’s entirely possible to eat a healthy varied diet without meat, or to buy free range meat locally. The protein and nutrients that most people fear losing when they stop eating meat can be found if foods like tofu, and in supplements. Free range meat is also an option for people who don’t want to fully give up eating meat because the animals aren’t kept in inhumanely tiny spaces before they are butchered. People have more control over the food that they need to eat in order to survive in their environments, so it’s no longer necessary to support the inhumane butchering of animals when there are lots of alternatives that still provide the nutrients that our bodies
When I was little my teachers would ask me “Cora, What do you want to be when you grow up”? In reality, I couldn’t make up my mind on what I wanted to be ‘when I grew up’. When I was around seven, I went from wanting to be a Veterinarian to being an Astronaut, then back to a Veterinarian again. Around age 10, I wanted to be a dentist, even though I hate mouths. Then I wanted to be a Veterinarian again. Junior Year of high school came and when we started to research colleges and careers I heard that Premed programs were so hard to get into, and I wasn’t fooling anyone with my grades. I did some research on Veterinarians and I discovered that the Veterinarians don’t really handle the animals like I thought they did. Then I learned about Veterinary Technicians, they do so much with the animals. I
Keeping animals locked in cages, bored and cramped up in such a small space is an awful sight to show the children. It creates an image in the little minds of children that animals are to be treated like they don’t matter. They say Zoos are a place where children can learn about the wild, exotic animals, but in reality it doesn't teach them anything only that they are meant to be caged up, which is wrong. Also, it is really painful to see the animals bored and lonely, so why should people keep letting them do this to these beautiful creatures. Animal captivity for entertainment should end to let them go to their rightful home.
In conclusion the simple of one adopting a vegetarian or minimizing the amount of animal products can prevent the death and suffering of millions of animals. There are many ways that one can prevent animal cruelty, is just a matter or wanting to do so. For example one is not so excited about chores at all, but when some one important is coming one cleans the houses, and leaves it shining, just with this much effort one needs to want to stop cruelty because it this matter is not stopped it could lead to even major problems, one does not know if this could lead to animal extinction.
Cruelty-free is a label used for products that has not been tested on animals before distribution. Many modern cosmetic companies are now using the label cruelty-free and have abandoned animal testing and have implemented alternatives. Using blood samples from human volunteers and artificial skin developed in a laboratory are some ways that cosmetic companies can test for possible skin reactions without the use of live animal subjects. People who are passionate about animal rights should support cruelty-free makeup companies by purchasing cosmetics only from those companies. Alternatives to animal testing replace procedures that use animals, reduce the number of animals used in testing, and minimize pain endured by animals.
With the ever-growing population of animal lovers on earth, a more viable, humane solution for food consumption needs to be made, but why make a solution when there has already been one? Meat consumption has been proven time and time again to be unnecessary, but that doesn’t stop the average person from eating a double cheese burger with bacon. Unfortunately, many people are apathetic to what happens to animals in farm factories and continue to support them by buying their products, however, consumers should consider switching to a vegetarian diet because it’s more humane to animals, less farm factories being built can save the planet from deforestation, and with a proper balanced vegetarian diet anyone can maintain a healthy life without the

Humans have been organizing themselves into groups since the beginning of time. This keeps civilizations flourishing, cultures alive, and people safe and happy. People listen to the government to reap the benefits of its rule, however blind acceptance of all that the government says leads to an abuse of power. The animal’s unequivocal devotion to the state in George Orwell’s Animal Farm warns humans of negative repercussions that arise from trusting the government too much and the impact it has on daily life.
People love to eat meat. For over two million years, humans have relied on eating meat in order to survive or simply just because they enjoy the taste. Early humans had more powerful jaws and larger teeth and relied on meat as one of their main sources of food. As evolution took place and humans evolved, they developed smaller teeth and were only able to eat the meat if it was cooked. With humans evolving and being able to survive on foods other than meat, meat does not have to necessarily be a part of human diet anymore. Although many people have opted for a vegetarian lifestyle, most people still continue to eat meat and do not consider it a cruel act. Many have also stopped eating meat due health risks and environmental concern. Whether
People choose a vegetarian lifestyle for many reasons. Health, environment, culture, religion and ethics are all factors that play into the decision to not eat meat. Vegetarians do not eat meat, fish or poultry. Vegans, in addition to being vegetarian, do not use other animal products and by-products such as eggs, dairy products, honey, leather, fur, silk, wool, cosmetics, and soaps derived from animal products (Vegetarian Resource Group). As veganism becomes more popular as a lifestyle and as a means of weight loss there has become a great amount of debate as to whether or not this type of diet is considered healthy or harmful because it has the potential to lack important vitamins, minerals and of course protein.
...ming I will be willing to contribute in any way that I can, and becoming a vegetarian will help the environment a great deal. Becoming a vegetarian can also lead to becoming a healthier person and living a healthy lifestyle. And lastly, the way animals are killed and treated in factory farms are unethical and they should not be treated the way they are just to create a meal for the next person.Consider that the animal you are eating was a vegetarian and the meat contains all the minerals and vitamins of the plant foods it ate when you eat it. Along with fats yourbody needs in substantial amounts to stay healthy.....more on the fats later. Meat is as close to a complete meal as you can get because of this.
Should the torture of an innocent animal go unpunished? No, it should not; the real question is to what extent should the perpetrator be punished? The most basic definition of animal abuse is the intentional act of inflicting physical pain, suffering, or death on an animal; this includes monstrous neglect (the act of withholding food and water) that causes an animal to suffer, die, or be put in imminent danger of death. Currently, animal cruelty offenders are not punished to the extent that some believe they should be. Animal cruelty should receive mandatory jail time because the abuse towards an innocent animal is deemed inhumane and oftentimes is a precursor for violence against humans.
Every person has the ability to make their own choice of whether to eat meat or not. However, eating meat is directly tied to negative health effects, pollution leading to a depletion of ozone, and the depletion of hundreds of thousands of acres of land “wasted” on animal production when they could be used to solve the hunger crisis or lower emission levels. What humans eat is no longer a matter of choice; it has become a matter of life and death. Literally, the future of the whole planet rests on the decision of whether or not to eat meat. If humans chose to eat less meat the world that wouldn’t have to suffer the consequences (outlined above.) Vegetarianism is one possibility, as is Veganism; however the world would be
Eating meat has been around as a way to survive for millions of years. Eating meat was a way to survive because it is full of protein. Humans have improved in so many ways since then. They now know how to successfully survive and we no longer have to hunt for our next meal we can go right to the super market. The food industry is so big, they are now making food that we shouldn’t be eating.
