Andeisha Farid
Andeisha Farid is a 28 year old female who created AFCECO. AFCECO is an organization that helps underprivileged Afghanistan children. AFCECO stands for Afghan Child Education and Care Organization. She is a hero because she helps children without families, homes, health, or education find hope for their future.
Andeisha Farid was a refugee born in Afghanistan, in 1983. Her and her family needed to leave quickly, for her city was being attacked by Soviet airstrikes. She was forced to go to a refugee camp in Iran. The children there were treated harshly with no health clinic, school, or fresh drinking water. Her parents finally sent her to a refugee camp in Pakistan, where she could learn and be in school. She

studied in the camp for six years, but wanted to do more. She started tutoring women and children in the camp. Little did she know, that was the start to something great. Andeisha Farid is our hero because she created an organization that gives children in Afghanistan and Pakistan an education and a safe environment.
The organization that Andeisha created is called Afghan Child Education and Caring Organization. Farid states in a cnn interview “I wanted to empower them with a sense of security, with education and eventually independence.” This shows that she is going the extra mile to make a big difference in these kids lives. On paragraph two of the Vital Voices’ website, it says “Also while living in Islamabad, Andeisha became engaged with a non-profit that founded the Child Sponsorship Program in conjunction with the U.S. based charity, Charity Help International.” The reason this quote is relevant is it shows that she does not ask for anything in return, because she teamed up with a program that is a non-profit.
A Hero is “a person of any age who goes the extra mile to make a big difference in someone's life, without being asked, and without expecting anything in return”. This describes Andeisha Farid, because she went out of her way to help children in Afghanistan have a better life. She helped them to get a better education, and home. After she accomplished her goals, she didn’t ask for anything in return. This is why Andeisha Farid is a

In October 2000, Meena Gardizi was forced to flee her home in Kabul, Afghanistan because of death threats and persecution from by the Taliban. These threats were made not only to her, but also to her brother and sister-in-law because of Ms. Gardizi. Ms. Gardizi left behind her beloved brother, the only biological family she had left, and his wife in attempts to distance herself from them for their own safety. As a young woman, Ms. Gardizi could not and can not protect herself from the Taliban and their zealots. The government cannot keep her safe. Ms. Gardizi seeks asylum in the United States so that she will not be forced to return to her country, where the Taliban will almost certainly find and murder her.
Webster’s dictionary defines a hero as any man admired for his courage, qualities or exploits, especially in war. Some people attribute the term hero mostly to war. My personal definition of a hero is someone who takes a stand against evil or an unjust cause. The term hero can be applied to anyone, it isn’t necessary to save the world from explosion to be a hero. The act of standing up for a friend can also be called a heroic act.
What is a hero? A hero can be classified as a number of things. A hero can be a person who in the opinions of others has heroic qualities or has performed a heroic act and is regarded as a model or ideal. Ervin Staub, a holocaust survivor from Hungary and as scholar on altruistic behavior, has written, "Goodness like evil often begins in small steps. Heroes evolve; they aren't born. Very often the rescuers make only a small commitment at the start, to hide someone for a day or two. But once they had taken that step, they begin to see themselves differently, as someone who helps. What starts as mere willingness becomes intense involvement." The business man, Oskar Schindler, demonstrated a powerful example
Being a hero means to be willing to risk your life for others. Such as, Pat Tillman. Pat Tillman was a fantastic football player and he loved playing it too. Despite that, Pat Tillman turned down a 3.6million dollar contract to the Arizona Cardinals to go fight the war against terrorism. He ended up dieing from friendly fire. All this goes to show how brave Pat Tillman was to risk his life and give up his football career to go fight in Afghanistan to help protect the American people. Likewise, the people that helped evacuate New York City after the

... and I saw the civil war; I saw everything damaged and destroyed,” she says, “This thought was always in my head: ‘I have to be in construction; I have to help conditions here” (Lemmon 35). Afghani women are indeed making a difference; they are also doing it on their own terms.
Walt Masters was a boy in the Yukon that tried to save a gold claim from being stolen to help his neighbor. Farah Ahmedi wanted to lead a better life by going across the border to Pakistan. John Thornton wanted to become rich by mining gold. However, all three were determined to help themselves or their friends achieve something better.
According to google.com a hero is someone who “is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievments, or noble equalities.” (google.com). For example, superman , superman is an all time american classic modern hero who is admired for his courage and for saving earth multiple times from super villains. Another example of a hero is Beowulf. Beowulf was created around 1000 AD and was known far and wide throughout the lands for his selflessness, bravery, and courage .
A hero is someone you look up to, someone who has done something to inspire you, someone who is your role model. In our society, there are many different types of heroes—family, friends, teachers, firefighters, and police officers to name a few. But a hero that stands out to me is a U.S. soldier. Soldiers risk their lives every day just so we can have our freedom.
“Hero,” what does this mean today? People have many different ways of using this word. The Webster Dictionary definition states, “a mythological or legendary figure often of divine descent endowed with great strength or ability.” I look at the word “Hero” and think bravery, courage, and sacrifice. First, when you see or hear of the growing problem of bullies in the school system, you see a hero stand up now and again. I have seen this with my daughter, who once was bullied, but stood up for herself and for others. As a father, this made me feel proud that you’re raising a leader and not a follower. Secondly, the men and women that not only put their life on the line for our country once, but go back a second time or more. This is courage, not only for the soldiers themselves, but their families. I have many family and friends that have served or still serve in our military. The courage they face overseas is hard, but for most, the courage comes when they return home. Lastly, anyone that puts someone else or someone’s life in front of their own takes sacrifice. Our local, county, and state law enforcement do this every day. We see it on the news, or know someone that has witnessed this. For many they have lived the reality of the sacrifice of a loved one. So when I define the word “Hero,” I say look around, life is full of hero’s, it’s in use all.
she is only 16-year-old from an Islamic country leading the first vital step towards raising the status of women in the Arab region is undoubtedly laudable. Indeed, she deserves to be called an ideal person of all girls in the world, who fight against any obstacles that abuse women’s individual rights. She is raising confidence to all girls and urging them to speak out what they want to be and ask for what they should have
According to Miriam-Webster Dictionary a hero is defined as a person who is admired for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. Everybody has a hero as children. For example, Superman, The President, and many others have been known to be obvious childhood heroes, but one hero who goes unrecognized very often is Eli Cohen. Cohen is a hero because he is intrepid and selfless.
