1 ‘’Barter’’ by Sara Teasdale Task oneI choose ‘’Barter’’ by Sara Teasdale, I chose this poem because of the positive, hopeful, and encouraging feelings I had after reading it. Life is very challenging from birth to death. It is very easy for an individual to loose their way in this world and forget what is truly important in their lives. I believe the author was trying to bring recognition to the reader that it’s never to late to find your inner compass and get back onthe right track to your true happiness.‘’Life has loveliness to sell’’ is a phrase that is repeated many times in this poem. The phrase is used as personification because the human -like quality of selling is being given to life. This …show more content…
It is used in the first line of this poem, giving the reader a pretty good idea wherethe author might be headed.I believe ‘’Life has loveliness to sell’’ means that life can be as beautiful as you want it to be if you are willing to pay the price. I believe the author wanted the reader to feel encouragement. That life offers everyone equal happiness as long as they agree to pay for it. I believe the author kept the poem in the same train of thought with the phrase ‘’Music like a curve of gold, sent of pine trees in the rain’’ I believe‘’Music like a curve of gold’’ represents music as being as valuable as gold to some. Music has a great power. Hearing a certain song can make you feel many things. The song may make you want to dance with great happiness. The song may spark a memory of a lost loved one and fill your heart with a humblehappiness that gold could never buy. This poems meaning can change in the eyes of the reader. For example I believe ‘’Scent of pine trees in the rain’’ means taking in the beauty and smells of a peaceful rainy day standing under a beautiful pine tree. But a different reader may feel the pine trees are considered bad and smelling them is the price one must pay for the joy of the rain.I believe the author wanted to write a positive and encouraging poem for her
In the world of teenagers everything seems to come and pass by so quickly. For instance the beginning of senior year. ... themes of individualism and alienation. The chief value of living with music lies in its power to give us an orientation in time. In doing so, it gives connotation to all those indefinable aspects of experience which nevertheless helps us make what we are.
I think music has a way of explaining something or telling a story. Music can bring up happy times, it can also bring up sad times as well. Certain songs can remind someone of troubling issues from a past, can be the reminder of someone you have lost, it can also be a reminder of many happy times; such as weddings, high school dances, or even just hanging out with friends in the back

This poem was about very religious. In this poem she talks about her admiration of God and how she and all humans are humbled by God's creations. She says, "The higher on the glistening sun I gazed. Whose beams was shaded by the leafy tree; The more I looked, the ore I grew amazed, and softly said, 'What glory like to thee?' Soul of this world, this universe's eye, No wonder some made thee a deity; had I not better known, alas, the same had I". This quote means that a tree because of its beauty amazes her. Also, she is saying that the thing responsible for creating such a thing must just as beautiful if not the most beautiful on the earth.
Music is one of the most fantastical forms of entertainment. Its history stretches all the way from the primitive polyrhythmic drums in Africa to our modern day pop music we listen to on our phones. It has the ability to amaze us, to capture our attention and leave us in awe. It soothes the hearts of billions, and it is so deeply rooted in my life that it has touched my heart as well. Everyday I walk to the beat of the song stuck in my head and hum along to the melody. For me, to listen to music be lifted into the air by the hands of your imagination and float around for a while. You forget about your worries, your troubles and find peace within the sound. Every chapter in my life is attached with a song. Every time I listen to a certain song, thoughts of my past come flooding back
Music is far more than the sum of its parts. It can be thought of in a highly mathematical sense, which leaves one in awe of the seemingly endless combinations of rhythm, tone and intervals that a good musician can produce. Admiring music in this way is a lot like admiring an intricate snowflake, or shapes in the clouds; it's beautiful, but at the same time very scientific, based on patterns. All of the aforementioned qualities of music have one thing in common: they can be defined with numeric, specific values. However, the greatest aspect of music lies elsewhere, and cannot be specifically defined with words. It is the reaction that each individual has when they are confronted with their favorite (or least favorite) kind of music.
A person can do more than just dance to music; they clean, laugh, sing, cry, and make some of the greatest memories while enjoying music. Music can take us back in time to past memories, whether they are good or bad. It can make us think of different phases of our life. Just hearing one song can take us back years. It can make us think of a certain person at a particular part in time. The words and lyrics in songs have a way of relating to some people. (White) (Lyon, Suzanne)
In “Out, Out” we as a class talked about that the boy had a terrible accident and died and how everyone then went back to work. I felt that it was more about nature and the destruction of the trees and forest. The first five lines are just giving you the imagery of what the smells of the wood are like and how so many trees had dropped “Sweet-scented stuff when the breeze
“Music is enough for a lifetime, but a lifetime is not enough for music.” These were the words of Sergei Rachmaninoff, a Russian composer and pianist who was very influential in the twentieth century. Sergei’s perception of music was accurate because he understood the impact and significance music can have. Everybody knows what music is and they all have heard a form of it but most people underestimate the value and power music has in our everyday lives. Whether they know it or not music plays a vital role in the lives of people today. Music is a very efficient tool that influences and assists people, it plays a huge part in today’s society, and it had done so much for me as an individual.
Music, a form of art, made up of unique and special sounds containing elements of pitch and rhythm can powerfully soothe one’s soul. Firstly, there are different types of music, and each has its own features. These sounds and features are what I admire in music because to me it creates a new form of communication to one’s consciousness. It stimulates our mind and gives it a sense of harmony and peace through the hardships that life poses for us. As a kid, I would always listen to music from any genre, deciding which genre would complement me the most as I grew older. In middle school, I remember going on the computer and finding a website/program where I could make my own beats. From that day on, I spent countless of hours each day making sure the tune sounded proper and pleasurable for my ears. At first, it wasn’t good, but eventua...
Through music we are able to comprehend someone’s personality, their views, their culture, and who they are as an overall person. The music you listen to is a reflection of who you are and your own personal thoughts. As I reflect on the music I listen to I came to the conclusion that I gravitate towards songs that depict the emotions we feel through lyrics while being able to relate it to my own personal experiences.
