The "White Pony" by the Deftones is a seminal alternative metal album released in June of 2000. The album was extremely successful, and praised by fans and critics alike. The moody instrumentals and aggressive lyrics have the ability to transport the listener back to their angsty teenage years. Lead singer Chino Moreno's scratchy vocals and the bands audio distortion techniques have an almost haunting and thought provoking effect on their fan base, and an aptitude for grabbing the attention of new listeners. "White Pony" is an album to stand the test of time.
It has always been argued that nature, nurture, or both affect human development. In Flobots’ “Handlebars”, the lead singer answers the question of whether nature, nurture, or both affect human development by showing two best friends who went their separate paths and turned into two completely different people. The music video and song shows and tells the experiences that shaped both friends and ultimately caused the demise of one, if not, both of them. However, within this song and video the power of the government, namely the American government and politics is criticized; also power plays a big role in what occurs within the video. In Flobots’ “Handlebars,” the use of illustrative lyrics, reflective instrumentals; and detailed images helps show how your surroundings and your choices could effect human development.
...ent ground. the background is bright red and has large graphic circles of yellows, pinks, and blues. They seem to mimic the idea of a musical notes. It is composed of flat figural forms cut from vibrant paper. This was not the only album cover that Romare Bearden ever created. He also did another album cover for Wynton Marsalis called J Mood.
Founded in New York City,1984,by Russell Simmons and Rick Rubin, Def Jam Records is now one of hip hop’s most influential record labels. Famous for dragging a once underground genre into the mainstream.Def Jam Record’s first release under the label was Jazzy Jay and T La Rock's "It's Yours." This was the initial fuel that launched the label to fame in 1984. Singles produced by Def Jam such as ‘I Need a Beat’ by LL Cool J in 1985 closely followed by ‘Rock Hard’ by the Beastie boys allowed Def Jam to gain a distribution deal with CBS records which boosted the popularity of the record label dramatically.
In “The Sweetheart of Song Tra Bong,” Rat Kiley recounts the time when Mark Fossie brought in his girlfriend, Mary Anne Bell, from Ohio to Nam. Mary Anne is a curious and very friendly seventeen-year- old girl who just graduated from high school. She constantly asks questions about the war. Tension grows between Mary Anne and Mark when Mary Anne starts to become more involved in the war. She helps with taking care of the injured soldiers and learns how to operate an M-16. Mark suggests that the two of them go back home, but Mary Anne refuses. She begins to return to the camp late at night, or not at all. One day in the early morning, Mark cannot find Mary Anne and panics, only to discover that she is out on an ambush with the Green Berets. Mark has a talk with Mary Anne in which they make plans to get married. However, over the next several weeks, an undeniable tension grows between the two. Mary Anne suddenly disappears after Mark starts to make plans for her return home. After about three weeks, Mary Anne returns to the camp and disappears into the Special Forces area, and Mark waits for her there. He hears a woman, Mary Anne, chanting along with strange music and bursts into the hootch to confront her. O’Brien uses disturbing imagery to emphasize how the war takes away one’s innocence and changes one forever.
Authors tend to write novels with specific purposes. A common purpose that many authors touch on is societal observations. In the novel The Red Pony, Steinbeck incorporates his observation on the main protagonist Jody’s transition from boyhood to manhood. The book is divided into four sub-stories: “The Gift”, “The Great Mountains”, “The Promise”, and “The Leader of the People”. Each episode focuses on Jody’s gradual maturation as he experiences a critical time of his childhood.
I like the song “ love yourz” by J.cole because it sends out a great message throughout the song about life and the trials and tribulations that come with it. the rhythm in his words are very motivational and the beat brings more interest to the song.
Atwood, Margaret. "Owl Song." Poetry Foundation. Poetry Foundation, n.d. Web. 17 Nov. 2015. [The poem is utilized to analyze and illustrate themes that can be juxtaposed to Sylvia Plath's poetry. In case themes, literary elements, and biographical elements are drawn together, then there is a commonality amongst eminent female writers. However, the use of the poems and comparisons is to find the underlying factor that traces these possible connections; in case it is not due to mental illness or embracement of death, then The Sylvia Plath Effect may be redrawn to a new possible hypothesis.]
Continuing on the novel, O’Brien continues on talking about his memories and revealing some of his war memories to the readers, such as, the “Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong” is a love story between an American girl and an American soldier in Vietnam. Because of the significance of the American girl whose name was Mary Anne, he travelled down to see his lover, who was described as, “clean and innocent”. It implies that they did not know anything about the war and did not see the terrifying parts of the war. Both the words “clean” and “innocent” denote free from the dirt of the society, connoting immature and blameless. The author uses Mary Anne as an example to delineate how the people at home saw the soldiers. Moreover, O’Brien says, “they’ll
At the St-Deborah which is Waterside town, Cole tried to find her friends and learned that they had gone to a "Museum of Civilizations" that was said to have retained the old ruins. In the theater, the appearance of a mad prophet forced the orchestra to flee the road, and the end of the journey is the Museum of civilization. And they found that only 12-year-old stowaway Eleanor, and let her join the Travel Symphony. On the road, the discussion turned to Kirsten's tattoo and "survival"-a famous quote from Star Trek. Dieters don't like tattoos because they see someone die from an infected tattoo. Other people in the symphony talk about what they do, not remembering Star Trek and nostalgic air conditioners. Kirsten began to recall Alexandra. She
This song is really touching my heart, obviously to say, it is a warm song; some people said that the Beatles were overrated. I don't think that's true. I think they're exactly as popular as they deserve to be. Also their song are still appealing and charming until now, people can’t deny that the Beatles had a huge influence on Pop and Rock music than any other band. If anything I think they're underpaid because of people saying they're overrated. All the song was describing a really nice picture and showing it in front of us.
The acapella group The Sweet Trebles were performing at Titan Club during dinner. That night people were given a show during their dinner. The Sweet Trebles did an awesome job. Their performance went very well I thought. My favorite song and their best song of the night was Hallelujah. It was nice having a change of atmosphere in the Titan Club. Usually it is either quite or loud like a cafeteria. Also it changed the mood there as well as people’s attitudes were happier. The acoustics there weren’t the greatest but the group still sang on key and were loud enough for everyone to her. Things I would have changed was probably where they were standing it was kind of dead center and in the way of everything. I would’ve made put them somewhere
“I can’t take my eyes off of you.” is repeated many times in the song “The Blower’s daughter”, which means quite a bit. With the poem and to the painting, the song expresses the feeling in both of the eyes of a handicap person and in the eyes of another person who loves them. Handicapped people require all the attention in the world, and even when they aren’t being attended to, someone is thinking about them. In the painting, the artist depicts a young girl, who seems to be crawling toward a home on a hill quite the distance away. She seems to be quite thin and weak, which hints at the point there may be a physical problem with her. In the poem, the farmer and his family give birth to a handicapped child and while watching her sleep, can see the desire and peacefulness in her. “His thoughts while they are resting. She’s only imagining, stalks of yellow flowers flush and frilled and rippling, and a song of hours. On this and all the world’s resources, she lingers, lit up like a votive.” which means that she is only thinking about the most peaceful things in the world, and no matter what happens while she is awake, those thoughts inside of her will not be changed. These examples express the thought of someone being different or struggling to live. With the picture of a weak girl crawling to a home-looking building and the constant attention both shown in the song and the poem, these three things all connect in a certain way. They connect in the way of love and caring. They connect in a way that shows the desire and the determination anyone can see in a handicapped person’s eyes. In the song by Damien Rice, it seems, that quite possibly someone has fallen in love with someone. It does not have to be what everyone thinks. Love is not just something between two people, this could also be something felt by a father to a daughter, or a mother to a son, in a completely non sexual and non physical way. The father, who is a farmer in the poem “Bringing Desire to The Fields”, seems to be in love with his handicapped daughter. He thinks about her constantly, even when he is about to sleep.
able to go past just their mistakes and eventually were able to practice for a certain amount of time and make progress without wasting any of that.
‘Rubber Soul” is a great album because it can help people who are in some difficult situation or if they are feeling lonely. It can remind people of loved ones that they lost, give them strength and encourage them because they know that they have someone who is watching from the sky. Also, songs are filled with inspirational meanings that can uplift someone’s mood.
“Nothing gold can stay” Ponyboy should be able to stay with Darry because if you take Pony away, he will be missing out on all his bigger family that he has. Even though he lives in a messed up environment, he still has a family and a gang that protects him and his oldest brother Darry, is still trying to be a good parent. He watches over Pony and he makes sure Ponyboy does good in school. Pony should stay with Darry because he needs to be with his family that he knows and is comfortable with. The reason why Pony shouldn’t go into the system is because he is not going to be comfortable in a new house with a new family. If Ponyboy does go into the system he doesn’t have a high chance of getting lung cancer. If Pony does stay with Darry he has protection from his real family, even though they don’t live in a good environment.
