Even though he lives in a messed up environment, he still has a family and a gang that protects him and his oldest brother Darry, is still trying to be a good parent. He watches over Pony and he makes sure Ponyboy does good in school. Pony should stay with Darry because he needs to be with his family that he knows and is comfortable with. The reason why Pony shouldn’t go into the system is because he is not going to be comfortable in a new house with a new family.
