On November 8th, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. at University Theatre Shasta Hall in Sacramento State University, a dance performance called “Dance Sites 2016” was performed by the University Dance Company members and Guest Alumni Company members. The dance contained eight shorter works with one intermission and wide varieties of genres. Each of the pieces were unique and interesting because they all contained a different and meaningful message to the audiences. For the piece called “Unfabricated” choreographed by Nhan Ho, it would be the best fit into modern dance because there was no specific concentration on the movement techniques. The dancers were able to move freely around the stage without having to worry about each of their steps while performing the piece. The dancers also utilized their fast body movements to express their interior feelings as if something dramatic happened to them. Another key point is that the music that was used in this piece does sound similar to a modern music because it involved techno and electronic sound in it. What MEANING did the dance(s) have? Considering the title “Unfabricated”, the meaning of the dance was to inform the audiences that this perform will destroy or demolish something. Based on the performance, the dancers demonstrated that one should destroy all of the darkness and hatred in this society because there was a moment where a male dancer used a big hammer to knock against a huge piece of rock to show that he wanted to destroy all the hardships that are in his way and to move on to enjoy a happy life without hesitation. Adnan Syed did not murder Hae Min Lee nor did he have anything to do with her death. However, without a doubt, Jay Wilds, his alleged partner in crime, was involved.
I had the pleasure of being in Western Kentucky University Dance Department’s concert, An Evening of Dance. The performance took place on April 29th through May 2nd in Russel Miller Theatre. It consisted of many works from faculty and guest artists. I felt like the concert was a success and that the choreography was all unique in its own way. I enjoyed the pieces that I performed, and the ones that my fellow company members were in. Through the analysis of “Petrichor”, I found that each production and chorographic element plays a large part in the successful outcome of a dance and emotional responses can be evoked by the simplest ideas.
Every dance that is created by a choreographer has a meaning and or purpose behind it. The dance choreographed could be used to send a political, emotional, or a social message. Regardless of the message being sent, each dance created possesses a unique cultural and human significance. Dance is an ever evolving form of art; in much the same way that one can categorize and differentiate between eras and styles of architecture one can also do so with dance. These eras at times have sharp delineations separating them from their antecedents, other times the distinction is far more subtle. Throughout the years, America has pursued the performing arts in a large variety of ways. Theatre plays a dramatic and major role in the arts of our society today, and it takes great effort in all aspects. Musical Theatre, specifically, involves a concentration and strength in dance, acting, and singing. This is the base that Musical Theatre is built upon. For my Senior Project, I helped choreograph multiple scenes in a community musical “Thoroughly Modern Millie”. Choreography is a way of expressing oneself, but it has not always been thought of for that purpose. Agnes de Mille’s expressive talent has drastically affected how people see choreography today. Agnes de Mille’s influence in the world of dance has left a lasting impact in the Performing Arts Department, and her revolutionary works are still known today for their wit, lyricism, emotion, and charm.
Li’s passion for ballet shows on and off stage through his arabesques, flexibility, fouettés, grande jeté and pirouettes that were nothing less than perfection. I understood that becoming a dancer requires commitment, passion and having a great memory as there’s many moves, routines and ballet terms that you need to learn. When I was performing on stage, I felt free and that I could own the stage as it felt like it was my second home. I also felt complete within myself just as Li felt. To perform on stage, you need to be light and graceful along with connecting to the music using precise steps, poses and formal gestures. The film used dance, music, scenery, and costumes to portray a story characterised by Li’s dance. Classical ballet dancers require the utmost grace and I’ve found that you also need a tremendous level of concentration and memory. This portrays when his choreographer Ben Stevenson asked Li Cunxin to replace the main male role due to an injury on the day of the performance to memorise new dances and perform them in front of an enormous crowd. Many of my performances have been in a group where we all need to be in sync and work together. The work ‘Ghost Dances’ by Christopher Bruce was viewed on 26th August, 2011 to the Year 12 Dance class. The individual interpretation of the social/political or world issue/ comment the piece is attempting to make. Using direct examples from the performance, the use the choreographer has made of the movement and the non-movement components have been identified. Also the effectiveness of this piece has been evaluated.
In this essay I will be discussing how Ho Chi Minh sense of nationalism was the driving force in ending French rule in his country. By tracing Ho Chi Minh’s life it becomes rather obvious that his endeavors would result in a strong sense of nationalism for his country that had long been exploited by French rule. Following his travels throughout the world Minh found that the West had no interest in a free a Vietnam, so Minh was forced to turn to the Communist for help. By working with the communist, Minh was ultimately able to free the Vietnamese people from French rule. The paper argues that Ho Chi Minh’s strong sense of nationalism for his home country far outweighed his allegiance to the communist party.

Modern is an emotional type of dance where you would not think about what you are going to do you would just dance how you are feeling at the moment. I remember when i first learned what modern dance i felt so awkward doing it because you will feel like people are judging you how you but dance in your own style which people don't and once i got over that i have gotten more comfortable

It first originated from ballet, however changed when Isadora Duncan adjudicated that she didn’t want to dance ballet.
