Every song that you listen to doesn’t always have lyrics you can connect with. It loses your attention when it doesn’t relate to you. Or when it doesn’t have lyrics in the song that can make you a better person. When you come across a song that actually have meaning to you, you keep listening to that one song over and over and it becomes special to you immediately or it can be overtime. It makes you feel emotions you enjoy feeling. Eventually it starts becoming your go to song when you feel under the weather or feel overwhelmed. The song “I Hope You Dance” by Lee Ann Womack makes me feel this way. It gives me emotions that make me feel happy, comforting, and loving. Ever since I was a little girl my mom always played me this song. Still to this day it has a personal meaning to me. I will never forget the memories that I have with this song. I remember the times when she played the song to me just like it happened yesterday. …show more content…
If you become stagnant you will never accomplish the goals that you have set for yourself. The song makes you think about your outcome in your life. Lee Ann Womack says to “never lose your since of wonder”. Meaning to never stop dreaming about things that you really want or something that you want to overcome. For an example, If you are enrolled in school and having troubles. You will have the thought of possibly dropping out. But to avoid dropping out of school you keep on pushing and overcoming obstacles until you graduate. You can accomplish anything that you set your mind to
There are a lot of songs to choose form when there is songs that break down norms and one that reinforce some. There are songs that mean nothing. Great songs always have a hidden mean behind them even if when listen to them we do not know what they are.
My first song I´ve chosen is Sean McGee, song titled My Story. Mainly the song is about him facing different struggles, obstacles, and all the horrible things and situations he´s been in throughout his life. I can connect to this song and the lyrics for many reasons. One of his lines were ¨Do you know how it feels to be left out in the rain¨? And I have faced times like this when I feel like no one is there or have my back, and in the line he´s trying express how it feels to have nobody and be all alone. Also throughout this song he expresses how everyday you wake up your face with something rather it's just a minor issue or something that will greatly impact your life.
Whenever I play this song, I can’t help but remember my childhood. My parents struggled financially but, that was never an excuse for them. They always took my brothers and I out on small adventures. One of the most memorable memories I get when I play this song is when my parents would take us out to park to have a barbecue, while my brothers and I ran through the park till we became tired and hungry. Whenever I need a break from the world, I listen to this song just to remind myself of those special moments, even though those days won’t ever return, they are memories I will always treasure.
This evokes a direct connection with their emotions causing them to be more susceptible to let the meaning of the song resonate through their bodies. The image that the artists convey is easily understandable by the audience mainly because of the lyrics ease of interpretation. The song starts off by describing the scene as a “picture with a broken frame” letting the listener to imagine their life currently being shattered into many pieces. Then, the song describes life as “The edge of a canyon with only one way down”, which allows the audience to imagine that they have only one outcome, which is to fail. After being placed in this unescapable place, the song starts to describe another setting as a safe haven that anyone can reach. This place is found while looking up to the “sky on your knees” giving this place the significance of “heaven”. Once the person has found this place, the song says, “One more small piece of you/Starts to fall into place” reminding them of the picture frame that was broken being put back together. In order for the lyrics to be effective, the audience needed to feel comfortable when listening to the
My personal choice memoir was The World is Moving Around Me by Dany Laferrière, it was a memoir about the Haiti earthquake. Throughout the memoir Laferrière conveys not only his emotions, but his peers. His choice of words and phrases made this novel not only about the Haiti earthquake, but the country of Haiti and its people. His fixed descriptions show this event didn’t only move him physically, but mentally. Lastly, Laferrières connection to the people out side of Haiti, specifically the United States is key to show the world wide impact.
I think music has a way of explaining something or telling a story. Music can bring up happy times, it can also bring up sad times as well. Certain songs can remind someone of troubling issues from a past, can be the reminder of someone you have lost, it can also be a reminder of many happy times; such as weddings, high school dances, or even just hanging out with friends in the back
When I am down in my feelings, I listen to, "What hurts the most," by Rascal Flatts. In this song, Rascal Flatt`s message that he is trying to get through to people is that he has lost a loved one that meant the world to him, and he did not get the chance to tell that person what he really thought about them. I relate so much to this because I am a person who is not good about telling how I feel to people. I keep my emotions bundled up inside. This specific song has helped me to show more of my feelings to people and to open up more. Depending on the situation, I still have trouble showing my emotions. When I have trouble opening up, I listen to Flatt`s song to remind me that it is good, not bad, to open up to people. Another song I listen to that I relate to so much is, “Barefoot Blue Jean Night," by Jake Owen. The reason I relate to this song is because it describes a night of warm weather and good times. Jake Owen knew what he was doing when he wrote this
Reading the lyrics makes it seem like the song is a very depressing story about the writer’s life and how he is lost and does not know what to do with his life. At the beginning of the song the singer states, “Some nights I stay up cashing in my bad luck / Some nights I call it a draw” (1-2). The singer suggests that he is a gambler and that some nights he “cashes in his bad luck”, meaning he gambles his money away, and some nights he calls it a draw, meaning he went even. The song then states, “Some Nights I wish that my lips could build a castle / Some nights ...
Music is one of the most fantastical forms of entertainment. Its history stretches all the way from the primitive polyrhythmic drums in Africa to our modern day pop music we listen to on our phones. It has the ability to amaze us, to capture our attention and leave us in awe. It soothes the hearts of billions, and it is so deeply rooted in my life that it has touched my heart as well. Everyday I walk to the beat of the song stuck in my head and hum along to the melody. For me, to listen to music be lifted into the air by the hands of your imagination and float around for a while. You forget about your worries, your troubles and find peace within the sound. Every chapter in my life is attached with a song. Every time I listen to a certain song, thoughts of my past come flooding back
A person can do more than just dance to music; they clean, laugh, sing, cry, and make some of the greatest memories while enjoying music. Music can take us back in time to past memories, whether they are good or bad. It can make us think of different phases of our life. Just hearing one song can take us back years. It can make us think of a certain person at a particular part in time. The words and lyrics in songs have a way of relating to some people. (White) (Lyon, Suzanne)
Have you ever been asked the question, “Why are you listening to that?” At that moment, you sit there and try to come up with a reason to explain your answer. However, the answer always seems to be, “Because I like it.” There’s no particular reason, maybe it’s the artist or maybe it is because you just like the beat. Perhaps it could be the way you are feeling at that particular moment.
my mom and I had a special song that she would sing to me if I was sick, sad, or
This song reassures us that in a world so vast and separated, people can be brought together by love and faith. Similarly, "Dreaming of You" expresses that life can be an unexpected fairytale in which our dreams can and do come true. It paints a picture of a female/male night after night dreaming about the person she/he loves; longing, waiting for the courage to express that love.... ... middle of paper ... ... Listeners reap from this conclusion the sense of hope needed to live out their lives.
Sometimes the emotion that the music brings is very noticeable. For example, if someone is attempting to recover after the death of a loved one and they hear a song that reminds them of that person, it can create different emotions quickly. The song could make that person remember the good times that they had together and make them happy, or it could make them extremely sad.... ... middle of paper ...
He strives for this feeling of liberation while remaining self-aware that life is composed of both good and bad moments in which you must learn to embrace both. Through my own personal experiences, I’ve been able to recognize this as well. We cannot control what happens to us, but we can learn to pace ourselves and take life day by day. I’m constantly reminding myself to not worry about the future and what it beholds yet rather learn to enjoy myself and live in the moment. One of the main reasons I connect with this song is because the chorus reflects on taking your time on the ‘’ride’’ that is your own life. I believe it’s important to not worry over something that hasn’t happened yet or may never happen. There’s no reason to rush our lives nor compare ourselves to others and how well they’re doing. I’ve learned it’s harmful to dwell on the future and forget to enjoy the moment. We should focus on ourselves and how you can achieve all you desire on your own
