Anyone that has ever taken care of an infant has also dealt with diapers and the nasty business they hold. Troubling questions of which one is comfortable, which one is most reliable, and which one is overall best are just part of the nightmare that parents live through. The fact that there are numerous brands of diapers on the market to choose from makes it even more daunting. Unfortunately, it is by test trial experiences that parents have learned those aspects and answered some daunting questions. Although all diapers are meant to do the same job, Huggies and Luvs brands vary in both major and minor aspects such as absorbency, materials, and cost.

Comfort is a priority when purchasing clothes, so it should also be when purchasing diapers. Huggies brand diapers have a cloth like feel with heavily stitched enclosure tabs. The tabs, also called wings, are the part that wrap around the side and hold the diaper on. Huggies brand diapers also have a sturdy Velcro closure system that is heavily stitched for extra strength. This feature is important for when a child tries to unfasten the diaper or is rolling away as the parent tries to fasten it. Elastic waistband and leg holes are also soft in texture resulting in less chaffing and less fussing from the child. Luvs brand diapers, nevertheless, is opposite in those aspects. Luvs brand diaper material is more of a plastic and cloth blend which feels uncomfortable and stiff when touched. Luvs brand diapers also tend to bunch up and pull on the already poorly stitched wings. Bunching and pulling makes it difficult for the diaper to stay on and even easier for the child to take it off. The tabs, also known as wings, are smaller with a weaker Velcro patch that is unreliable in performing its function of holding the diaper on. Just the slightest bit of pull will cause the diaper to come undone resulting in a bare behind. The waistband and leg areas have limited stretch ability resulting in chaffing, pinching, tearing and a lot of crying from both the parent and child.
