Anakin Skywalker underwent a similar process in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. Toward the beginning of the movie, Anakin was tempted by the Chancellor Palpatine on General Grievous's personal Separatist craft “The Invisible Hand” during the battle of Coruscant to kill Sith Lord Count Dooku. Anakin had no intent to kill Dooku, to begin with, but was tempted him to do so. Palpatine remarks, “Kill him. Kill him now.” Palpatine acts as a temptation from the devil and marks the beginning of the end of Anakin Skywalker and his transition to Darth Vader. When Anakin had become Darth Vader, the mask was put on. He felt no empathy for his actions, especially after killing younglings in the Jedi Temple. The mask had taken control of his vision and blinded
him from the consequences. He was blinded by the fact that each individual he struck down was another person and not just another target. Anakin makes clear what the mask has done to him when he states, “From my point of view, the Jedi are evil.” Obi-Wan remembered Anakin’s previous commitment to becoming a Jedi Knight and loyalty to his Jedi accomplices, and remarks by saying, “Well, then you are lost!” Anakin also states, “I hate you!” once he is mortally wounded by Obi-Wan-Kenobi, who he had previously remarked as “like a father” to him. It is only when Vader’s suit is equipped and the physical mask is put on; his clear vision is replaced with small, blurry lenses that made it hard to see (which only fueled his anger: the emotion from which Sith attain power). Anakin had changed. He was no longer Anakin Skywalker; he was now Darth Vader. The mask had made Anakin into something he wasn’t, and temptation from Palpatine as well as his thirst for power led him to put that mask on and let go of his old self.
Luke's disobedience, with the lack of a just cause, ultimately led to his demise when he realized that fact at the end. His desire to disobey authority for no particular reason and construction of an image initially created tension among his inmates. Gradually, inmates started to idolize him, which the wardens saw it as a threat. His multiple escape fails to cement a clear reason for his disobedience; it was not until his recapture that he starts to lose his moral. He realizes this at the very end, however it has been too late. Cool Hand Luke demonstrates to us that disobeying authority requires a moral, just cause so that one can accomplish a more fair society and be one step close of attaining happiness.
In Cool Hand Luke, the movie begins with the word, VIOLATION, across the screen. The word is from a parking meter and sets the tone for the entire movie. Luke Jackson, the title character, is arrested for cutting off the heads of the town’s parking meters while drunk, or in legal terms, for destroying municipal property while under the influence of alcohol. When asked why he cut the heads off the parking meters, Luke answers, “You could say I was settling an old score.” While it leaves the viewers believing that he probably received a parking ticket at some time in the past, no clues are given to what the old score may have been.
In William Golding’s “Lord Of The Flies”, a group of boys is stranded on an island that completely changes them. The boys turn totally different from how they act from society as if they were putting on masks. It’s not just the boys that wear masks, but a lot of people try to hide from other people. What a mask does is that it hides a person’s trait and shows something completely different. I have made a mask like one of the boys, Ralph, that tries to show that he’s a leader, but hides a different personality. Here are some of the qualities of my mask.
Throughout the novel, The Lord of the Flies by William Golding, the character Jack finds his true identity through a clay mask of his own making. At the beginning of the novel, Jack is unable to kill a pig for food, however, he later puts on a mask in order to blend in with nature and not drive the pigs away. To the contrary, by putting on this mask Jack gains a newfound confidence that was nonexistent in his own skin. For example when Jack first put on the mask he “looked in astonishment, no longer at himself but at an awesome stranger” (63). By putting on a mask Jack is able to lose his identity a little bit and act and feel like a whole new person. This idea of taking on a whole new role when putting on a mask can be seen in many modern tv shows and movies.
Heroes are often perceived as characters who leap great distances in a single bound. However, they actually have three distinct stages where they develop into the character we grow to love. In George Lucas` “StarWars IV: A New Hope.” Luke Skywalker is a quintessence of of an archetypal hero because he goes through initiation stage through distinct phases of separation, transformation and the return stage. Luke Skywalker begins his journey as farmer boy on a remote planet and becomes the hero of the galaxy. However, this process the not happen quickly. Rather, it is a difficult journey where is is faced with multiple tests and obstacles and pushes his endurance to the limit.
Being a prisoner has more restrictions than one may believe. Prisoners are told when they should participate in daily activities and what they are allowed to say or do on a daily basis. This is not a life anyone is determined to experience during any period of time. However, all though for most prison life is just a depiction in a movie or on television, it is a reality for many. Their crimes and behaviors brought them into a world of being stripped of their freedom. Those who oversee the prisoners must control order within the brick walls. An article discussing the duties of a prison officer, defines it as one who “...has responsibility for the security, supervision, training and rehabilitation of people committed to prison by the courts”
This is a huge problem today because people do not realize that once he puts on that mask to be something he is not, even for a “second”, that can have a permanent impact on who he is. His whole persona changes and the people around him will most likely not recognize the person he is becoming or who he has already turned into. Most people do not realize that once he loses himself, he will eventually lose the people he loves and cares about deeply. If he finally wakes up into reality and see who all he has effected, it may end up being too late and that is the worst feeling.
In the book Static Jedi, evangelist, communicator, author, and artist, Eric Samuel Tim, shares a story about a missions trip he took to the Philippines to help a church there.
The first idea I will be looking at is that Star Wars is a type of
One could make the argument that perhaps Anakin was amoral in the way he dealt with his experiences. On the other hand, he was just a man who let his emotions and desires control

A combat scene that is well-written and well thought out adds excitement and tension to a story, whether it’s hand-to-hand combat between mortal enemies or an all-out four-army control-of-the-world skirmish of Tolkien magnitude. Writing a combat scene can be a complex process that may or may not work out, following a few simple rules can ease the headache a little by at least knowing which pitfalls to avoid.
THX 1138, American Graffiti, Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back…the list goes on and on. Although many have not heard of each of these films, everyone certainly has to know the man behind them. George Lucas has, in many cases, written, produced, and directed, not to mention edit, his own films. His vision was the driving force that imagined and created these movies. All have made back the cost of the film and most have received millions of dollars in profit.
Star Wars (1977) is one of the world’s most successful films of all time. It has made a terrific impact on popular culture since its release. Furthermore, Star Wars changed the narrative and aesthetic style of future Hollywood films. Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, illustrates how cinema has evolved since Fred Ott’s Sneeze (1894). Ultimately, this essay will explain the set up of Star Wars and how it connects to cinema history, in the point of views of the: narrative and cinematic style, genre, auteur theory and the global film industry.
George Lucas is the producer of Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones the movie that my mini-painting is from. Lucas was born on the 14th of May in 1944, 21 years prior to his first produced film. Lucas was in the art period of cinematography from 1965-2013, his year of semi-retirement. He stopped making big films that year, because he wanted to hand his biggest series, Star Wars to the next generation. He still helps out to make sure the continuity is good, and they don’t forget anything or add something extra that should not be in the films.
